do not think 4k output would help, if the source is only 4MP to start, unless you buy some 4K (12MP) cams.

yeah, but updating to a 4K output HikVision NVR (the NI series), do not think will help much without 12MP cams. i have a DS-7716NI/16P and can't see much difference between 4K & 1080p as both upscale (either TV or the NVR)
