Hello everyone,

I've been an IP camera fan since 2014. I have 12 Hikvision DS-2CD2143G0-I 4MP 2.8mm & NVR that I've always been impressed with except do to age all have lost there IR capability and now don't perform at night unless there is lighting.

I'm looking to replace all of them with 8MP / 4K IP cams and are tossed between Dahua or CCTVSecurityPros cameras. Most of the views will be 50ft or less. My goal is best clearest picture day and night. Either one I go with I'll use there NVR.
Has anyone have any real world experience with either of these?

Dahua N85DY62 8MP IP Dome 2.8mm IR ePoE
Dahua N85DJ62 8MP IP Eyeball 2.8mm IR ePoE
or
CSP-IPMD8-A 8MP IP Dome 3.6mm IR Poe
CSP-IPMIC8-A MP IP Eyeball 3.6mm IR Poe

These will be all outside cameras. I believe both would be very good in the day but which would be better at night?

Thanks
Richard

Hi @rlemoine

I don't know the prices you've been quoted on these, I pulled up a quick search and imho I thought the prices are a bit higher than I would prefer for a DIY job ..

The CSP-IPMIC8-A I do not think is a good buy with such a small sensor 1/2.8" and 8MP .. seems very overpriced to me.

Most of us prefer to find better deals than what I am sharing here ..

Bottom line is that every camera needs light to see at night.

1/3" = .333" Great for 720P
1/2.8" = .357" (think a .38 caliber bullet) Great for 2MP
1/1.8" = .555" (bigger than a .50 caliber bullet or ball) Great for 4MP
1/1.2" = .833" (bigger than a 20mm chain gun round) Great for 8MP

After the feedback and more research. Looks like the IPC-T5842T-ZE is probably the better direction for performance and price. I really did want to bring things closer to a 4 or 6mm especially at night. Will this camera perform decent color at night?

Thanks
Richard
