1st post "Hello" and sanity check

Hello. Been reading as much as I can... But, I'm starting from "0".

I have an order on the way from @EMPIRETECANDY... Two IPC-HDBW4231F-AS and one NVR5216-16P-4KS2. These will be used too get my feet wet and keep an eye on the kids while my wife and I work (from home) during the day (playroom and main living area). I expect I'll add more cameras, inside and out, once (if) I figure out what I'm doing.

Suddenly, I realized I'm going to have to install these and run cables, etc...

So, I'm about to order the following. Can someone do a sanity check and keep me out of trouble?
Is there anything else I should go ahead and get? Are these good enough choices?

I have tons of room in the attic. Navigating that area should not be a problem. I expect I'll ceiling mount the cameras (I think). I have a spare conduit from my master closet (where all networking stuff lives and a small desk) that runs to the attic. But, I think I can handle running wires down the inside of walls, if I really need to. I think...

I have a little electrical experience (from my youth). Basically, no real networking (short of setting up simple home network) or camera experience to speak of.

Really appreciate any help, opinions, advice...

SmartPSS makes it rather simple to view video.
Take a deep breath, take your time and do it right.

Looks good, I actually picked up a crimper tool from monoprice - one of the nicer ones and it works well.

Also, optional - I also pulled a couple of wires for inside the house during my install so I picked up some keystone jacks and wall plates.

Installation and test equipment

Locating cameras and picking the fov can be trickier than it might seem. A test rig so hold the cam in the targeted location is wise, then check the view.
These threads discuss test rigs for outdoors (where locating the camera is trickier than indoors). It might give you ideas. Test before you put holes in sheetrock!

Fastb- It is definitely trickier getting the FOV than I thought it'd be. I hung one of my two cameras (corner of the playroom). I "tested" it beforehand by having wife hold iPad while I held camera in place. Still, after having it up for a bit, I'm second-guessing my decision. Have too much wall in the shot than I realized. Oh well, it definitely serves it's purpose. Just going to be more mindful going forward.

All the focus is on the inside, for now. Basically, an elaborate nanny system, not security for these. Ceiling mounting, so not sure how to get a test rig set for that. But, test rigs will be used for sure when I move outside.

I still can't figure out how to get motion, IVS, etc to work. Nothing I do seems to get it. Have tried everything, every combination (NVR, direct to cam, Blue Iris) I can think of. Over and over again. No doubt, user error. But it's got me stumped. I may try a new thread in the camera or NVR section...

your FOV is more than 90 degrees, so a less-than-ideal lens for the application.

Ceiling mounting, so not sure how to get a test rig set for that.

I used a light bulb changer on a pole, and bungee cord connected to a step ladder.
Some folks use a camera tripod. Others an extendible paint roller handle.
Because a wife-held camera has its own issues.
Ideally, get daytime and nightime shots. Wifey won't have the perseverance....
