That's irrelevant. The temp at any time will not be effected by anything longer than about 30 minutes prior. That said, I'm going to swap out a thermostat for an activation of 105 degrees (current is 95). The camera is perfectly safe occasionally reach 110F. It's speced for 122F.

Zoomed in on 1 day. Sorry about the labels. Blue is the camera enclosure and red is outside.

Had to finally hook up power to the TEC given the heat: Here's a temperature graph of inside the housing and outside. 7/14 and before, you can see inside of the housing follows the outside exactly with the interior always running about 10 to 12F higher than the exterior. This is due to the...

SOLVED: Do not upgrade to 5.6.0!!! Much worser exposure/focus performance

FYI, the difference between the DS-2DF8236I5X and the DS-2DF8236IX is that the former is the laser IR. Same firmware for both cameras which are in the H3 series.

SOLVED: Do not upgrade to 5.6.0!!! Much worser exposure/focus performance

If I use dev tools in Edge and uncheck none-important, the exposure level shows up but it just snaps back to 0 when dragging it right or typing anything into the value box.

SOLVED: Do not upgrade to 5.6.0!!! Much worser exposure/focus performance

So yea. 180511 is a massive improvement over 200628. Their hacked version has something that really messes with auto tracking. 180511 brings it back to on par with 5.4.9. Now if I can just figure out how to get the exposure setting back. IE compatibility mode no longer works in developer mode.

SOLVED: Do not upgrade to 5.6.0!!! Much worser exposure/focus performance

Installing the 180511 build now. One obvious improvement in smart tracking over 5.6.0 is that the camera no longer zooms in first and then tracks. My 5.4.9 cameras all center their subjects first at the start of a track and THEN zoom in. 5.6.0 breaks this resulting in almost every track...

SOLVED: Do not upgrade to 5.6.0!!! Much worser exposure/focus performance

I just applied this firmware to my DS-2DF8236I5X-AELW(not quite the same as DS-2DF8236IX-AELW) which I thought was exactly the same as boomer53a's but then realized there's an extra 5 between the 6 and X. Rebooted fine and everything seems OK but the exposure level setting is still missing...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

This is what OpenALPR does. Too expensive to be worth paying for but it works great.

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Most of us? I seriously doubt that. I have 5 cameras facing my cul-de-sac from different angles and with the exception of the trackers, the LPs are clear coming and going on the left and right sides of the frame and WORST in the middle. The trackers rarely get the LP in the center of the frame...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Why does it have to choose? LP OCRing is cheap. OpenALPR runs every frame with an on prem install and picks the highest confidence match.

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Still on DS for now. Would be very interested in switching to CP if I could white list license plates and only be notified of vehicles that drive in our cul-de-sac that aren't vehicles with recognized license plates....just like OpenALPR can do.

I'm going to test with WDR and sacrifice frame rate to see if it improves license plates that are very brightly lit. Even with highlight compensation set and reducing exposure by 1.0, plates sometimes are too bright to read about 20% of the time. The Hikvision trackers I have are amazing at not...

@tech101 Way earlier in the thread you said you were going to try "4k multistreaming" in the Installation tab. If the output mode is NOT set to this, the View-DR setting will be grayed out and it will be checked or unchecked based on the last time you selected it (but disabled regardless). If...

I happened to be looking back at this thread for something and realized that the WDR box in your photo IS actually checked on but grayed out. When I first glanced at it, I didn't see the check inside the box but it is there. So for whatever reason, your WDR is forced on.

Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

I'd first just do a "backup setting data" in the System/Initialize tab and then factory reset the camera and see if you the WDR setting comes back and if you can turn on stream 1 and 2 with 10 fps. If it doesn't work, then you can at least restore so you don't have to spend a lot of time fixing...

So not only is it not selected but your WDR is disabled for some reason? How odd.

@tech101 , is your Wide Dynamic Range setting on in the Picture tab? If so, that will lower your max to 5 FPS if you use a substream.

Ran another test but below the cooling activation threshold so that just the circulating fan is going. This results in a 14F difference between the interior and exterior. This means the true cooling capacity is 24F which is far more reasonable.

So good and bad news. The bad news first. The enclosure doesn't cool as much as advertised. So either the advertised cooling requires special conditions or my ebay Cooldome is defective. It's able to cool interior down 14 degrees. For example, if it's 104 degrees in a room, the camera running in...

It's here. Bench testing it now. Fan draw without AC is 8 watts. With AC it starts at 180 watts and settles down to 160 watts within a minute. Initially the thermostat with a hair dryer just to make sure it comes on. Now it's sealed with a SensorPush wireless temp sensor to log the temperature...

Ordered it from 123Security... the same company that previous canceled my s-type tornado order. I ordered the aluminum arm for $143 total (shipping included) and the plate for $21 + ($20 shipping) for a total of $41. Just a bit higher and I would have tinkercaded one myself and printed it.

Ugh. So even though the mounting plate is $24 on the dotworkz store, the cheapest shipping is $50. Looks like I'll be 3d printing a plate. Edit: it seems they have a minimum shipping charge no matter what you buy. The smallest replacement part has a $50 shipping charge.

I ended up ordering 12v Cooldome after all. Bought from ebay still wrapped in plastic. I made a $250 offer and they accepted it. I called Dotworkz first to make sure I could still get the regular aluminum arm which is $127 and the camera mount plate $25. Since I'm mounting the power supply...

123Security refunded my order and said the product was no longer available. I checked their site and it still showed but was now $104 more at $596. They then clarified that it was no longer available at that price. So I went to the next site that had the $492 price...

I ended up ordering the Dotworkz ST-TR-POE+P-SS which powers the blower and still passes through POE+ for a camera. i.e. the camera is powered by POE+ as well as the blower from a single cable going into the enclosure. Although there's a heater that comes on at 40F, the enclosure is not...

The literature says it's thermostatically controlled but nowhere does it say what the setpoint is or if it's adjustable. I'd consider it if it wasn't just pulling a full 144 watts 24 / 7 even in the winter but given there's no mention of what the temperature it controls to or if it's adjustable...

@tech101, which cooldome do you have 24 or 12vdc? What power supply are you using? Have you measured how much power it actually draws on a hot day? I assume when it's cool enough in late fall, winter, and early spring that it doesn't consume any power? Is there a thermostat you can set?

Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

So not sure, but it appears the s-type tornado does not exchange any air with the outside. It just circulates air inside the enclosure to ensure the heat is evenly distributed which will help but given how much heat the sony gives off, the inside of the enclosure might exceed 122F when it's 110...
