BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I disagree. I have a very hard time selling a Blue Iris system to residential users because of these issues. And over the last couple years, it's becoming more difficult to sell to commercial users. No one wants to sit in front of a monitor or computer to view their cameras and/or save footage...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I said what I said. And that's right, I DON'T want to use a browser to view my cams. I want to use an app, an app I paid for too. Also, none of my customers want to use an app. How unprofessional would that look if I told them, "well, the app kinda sucks and doesn't have all the easy features of...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

You're missing my point, it's not user error. It should be simple to do for ANY user. No one is going to go through this every time. They should be able to simply go into the APP, and tap the the button for the corresponding camera, turn turn "on" to "off"...boom, done. And yes MANY other NVRs...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

BI has 2 major flaws that I've been working with the developer on. 1. You cannot shut off individual camera push alerts on the mobile app. Well, you CAN, but it also shuts it off for everyone else. For example, my wife has a camera I installed that she likes to watch birds with that has AI to...

Blue Iris mobile not allowing me to shut off individual push notofications

Can someone please tell me why this is doing this. I tap the icon to run it off and it just immediately changes right back. I can shut off alerts, but then the system won't record alerts, so that's not an option. It's doing it on my wifes phone as well. I have gotten no love from BI tech...

    Exporting clips on mobile

Forgive me if the answer is simple. But is there a way on mobile to export clips to your phones gallery. I see an "export" option on clips, but it seems to do nothing but put a little symbol on the clip, but nothing happens (picture attached). I know that you can watch the clip and tap the...

    Alerts without push notifications

Yes, I can disable it through the settings on my phone, but it seems like I should be able to disable push alerts on specific cameras through the app while it still records the "alert" as a "motion event" that I can scroll through later

    Alerts without push notifications

Hey all! I hope I can ask this so it makes sense, I cannot seem to Google the correct question to find my answer. With Blue Iris, I used to be able (at least I think I remember) to go through my "alerts" WITHOUT having it send a push notification to my phone, now it seems that if I go into the...

    Alerts for different user IDs

Blue Iris question: My wife and I have our own user IDs, but she wants alerts on certain cameras, I want them on others. Anyone know why when I enable/disable alerts in my user ID, it also enables/disables it in hers?

    Watchdog probmems

I monitor 8 servers. It seems a bit random, but they all give me Watchdog notifications that they are off for a few minutes, then back on. But when I get the notification that they're off, I check them and they're still on. So it's a problem with the watchdog service

    Need a moderator

No, it's been going crazy for a few weeks now. I had hoped it would clear itself up. At least 2-3 times a day I get a notification, then subsequent emails that my servers are down. Sometimes just a few, sometimes all. Then I go to check them, and they are all fine. So that means I get up to 2...

    Watchdog probmems

For the last several weeks I've been getting a lot, I mean A LOT, of false positives that my server(s) are not responding. I watch about 10 servers or so through the Watchdog service and I get a half dozen notifications, then subsequent emails, that they aren't responding, then I check them and...

    Help installing Amcrest PoE camera

And just to clarify, cause being a networking guy this drives me nuts, your router is actually 3 devices in one. It's a router, a switch, and a wireless access point. You can, and should, buy these devices separately. No "routers" have PoE ports

    Help installing Amcrest PoE camera

The camera is PoE, which means it CAN be powered by a PoE switch. If you just have it plugged into a regular switch, it's not going to power on. It will not include a power injector or power supply, you're much better off getting a $40 PoE switch

Off site Blue Iris server question

Thank you everyone. I figured it out. All I had to do was change the RSTP port of the cameras so they're unique, and port forward those ports on the router where my BI server is. While I truly appreciate the concern of the vulnerabilities of port forwarding, it wasn't my question. Thanks again

Off site Blue Iris server question

Lets say yes, I do want to do this. So I would change the HTTP to port 8080 (for example) and RSTP to 1554, then match that up in BI?

Off site Blue Iris server question

I have a Blue Iris server at one location (location A), and want to set up 2 cameras off-site (location B) to connect to the server at location A. What value should I be using in the camera IP field in BI when adding the cameras? I know I should use the public IP plus port number, but I'm...

    WiFi Camera Range Poor

Have you tried not using the NVRs Wifi? Connect the camera to your local WiFi and the NVR should be able to scan the network for cameras and add it that way. I honestly wouldn't be blasting some off brand NVR WIFI network out, its probably no the most secure thing in the world.

New router, new question on port forwarding

I would try it, what could it hurt, right? On internal, enter 56788-56788, and on external enter 56788-56788. I know you definitely need to have a port (or range or ports) specified on both

New router, new question on port forwarding

New router, new question on port forwarding

It may also be possible you have a port conflict...? (spiballing here) And my old networking days want to tell me not to use a port over 49151...not sure that matters though. I use pFsense, so I haven't used a conventional router in a while personally, but I do set up 1-2 Blue Iris servers a...
