    EmpireTech 2025 Spring Sales March.18th-23rd

Decided to finally replace my first Andy cam from 6 years ago (SD22204UE-GN) with a Color4k-T for my front porch. Can't wait to see how much better it will perform at night. Gotta love these sales.

Glad you are ok. That could have ended very badly.

    Weight value as overlay

I needed to pull some json data into my camera feeds a few years back. @bp2008 was kind enough to whip up a very easy to use app. Working great since set up. See this thread: https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/looking-for-a-way-to-pull-a-data-value-from-json-to-overlay-on-camera-feed.60630/

Best current deal on 1000ft of Ethernet cable, RJ45 Connectors, and a crimper?

This is why I only use cat6. The pricing difference between 5 and 6 is not enough to take the risk of needing the extra poe power later and not having it. Especially for long runs.

Contemplating Blue Iris and have a question about PC location

Curious why you do not want to put the PC in that closet and run headless? I've got mine in a closet with the hdmi output run to a TV in a nearby room. Other solution would be to run ethernet from the switch to another room where the PC is.

Best current deal on 1000ft of Ethernet cable, RJ45 Connectors, and a crimper?

Yeah looks like Truecable is the way to go. I see it for $194 on Amazon for 1000 feet. Good to know it's good quality.

Best current deal on 1000ft of Ethernet cable, RJ45 Connectors, and a crimper?

Looks like just over 4 years. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8103 I think i need to look around too.

Best current deal on 1000ft of Ethernet cable, RJ45 Connectors, and a crimper?

Crazy how much monoprice cat 6 has gone up in the last few years. I checked my past orders from amazon, and see i was paying around $100 for 1000ft. Same cable is almost $300 now.

User experience on BI Android App?

https://ipcamtalk.com/tools/watchdog/ There is a watchdog that can alert you if your server is unreachable, but it doesn't know why it is unreachable (power outage, internet outage, server issue, etc)

I think the Kohler engine builders and the Kohler toilet designers might actually be the same people.:p

Customer Service is dead (share your stories here)

Well, mostly dead. There are still a few good companies out there. Looking for something in the garage the other day, I came across the engine block for my commercial grade Scag zero turn mower that I replaced last year. It stirred up some anger and I have to vent. Sorry. I bought the mower 5...

    Home monitoring alternatives?

Me too. Works great with my Honeywell hardwired alarm. Alerts are instant and we can decide to call police/fire/etc after checking cameras if we are not home. No monthly fees is nice too.

How to run cat 5e outdoor rated cable along a fence?

I'm wondering if lightning or stray voltage will be an issue with this length of cat cable run horizontally outdoors, even if it's not underground.

Swap old ssd hard drive to new cpu?

Update: I ended up setting the new pc up from scratch including a new install of Windows 11 pro. I left the existing drives in both computers. I imported my Blue Iris settings and everything seems to work great. I am running between 1-3 percent cpu and 2-5 percent GPU with codeproject (14 4mp...

Windows 11 pro and ZeroTier public/private

I just finished setting up a Blue Iris pc with Windows 11 pro and could not get ZT to pass any data on the ZT network which I verified was properly set up. I looked on the zerotier network on the webpage and could see the new BI cpu connected on the ZT network, but no connection to Blue iris on...

Swap old ssd hard drive to new cpu?

Interesting. I'll look into that. I'm starting to think I will wipe this computer and install Windows 11 again on it. Will cloning software allow me to copy everything off my old ssd except the os, which was Win 10? Any software you recommend?

Swap old ssd hard drive to new cpu?

Well, nevermind, I think. The PC was delivered today and it has an NVMe hdd. It's probably better to put everything on that drive, right? Due to it being faster than my sata ssd?

Swap old ssd hard drive to new cpu?

Thanks. I think I'll try it. It will save me hours of setting stuff up again. Plus I'd rather use the bigger drive.

Swap old ssd hard drive to new cpu?

I just bought a new (to me) i7-10700k with windows 11 pro to replace my older blue iris cpu that was having issues. The new cpu has a 256gb ssd hd in it, but I was wondering if I could just simply swap this out with my old 500gb ssd hd which I bought new a couple years ago. The old cpu was...

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

I received another one today. I tried to reuse the base and just screw the new illuminator on, but apparantly they changed the post threads from metric to standard pitch. Also, they are now using an all plastic jamb nut with plastic threads! I couldn't get it tight enough to hold solid, and...

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

This illuminator just went out on me a couple of nights ago. I just checked power at the connector and found only 4vdc, so I thought maybe just the plug in transformer failed. I wired in another 12vdc 1000ma transformer I had lying around, and now I have proper voltage to the illuminator, but it...

    Starlink satellite internet

Yeah, I use zerotier for cameras. Works great, but no full access to my lan from the outside. I will have to do some learning on ipv6, as I've heard t mobile uses it. Starlink was supposed to, but it was was very unreliable.

    Starlink satellite internet

Well, after 2.5 years of using Starlink, I think I can say it's a pretty decent setup for those who have no other options for high speed internet. I've had a few small outages, but it has been very reliable, with speeds greater than I needed. However, I may be moving on. 5G has finally come to...

Blue Iris suddenly says it's in evaluation mode, and I have no more days left.

Mine also did this at exactly 6am this morning on live view and recordings. The 'About' tab showed my expiration date as the last time it expired. I looked in my email for the last key code and it fixed it. The message on the screen about evaluation was an inconvenience, sure. But it did not...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

It's a useful device to turn non smart switches or sensors into smart ones. It has inputs for switches or even temp sensors, and an independent solid state dry contact relay built in. I currently have a dumb doorbell connected to one, and Hubitat sends me a push notification when someone pushes...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

When I get a little free time, I plan to open up the plug in chime to see what the circuit board looks like. I may tap into the speaker output with a Fibaro Smart Implant (zwave) to bring the db alerts into my home automation (Hubitat).
