    BI Feature Requests anywhere ?

nailed it BP - thanks for that response - I'll stop thinking I missed it now (even though the Help file eludes to it) I don't think it is beyond Ken's ability since ASP does it easily. More likely it is just not high on his priority list. [[ just thought he might want to be better than them...

    BI Feature Requests anywhere ?

page 38 discusses PTZ control and also has a screenshot of a menu. Page 39 says to choose "Select PTZ w/mouse cursor" to do exactly what I am asking about and also says this only works in full screen or solo cam mode. However, my very current BI has altered the menu and "Select PTZ w/mouse...

    BI Feature Requests anywhere ?

Being a huge fan of PTZ cams, there is one feature missing that would improve it for all PTZ users. I cannot find the feature of being able to point and click on a part of the monitor and have the camera move to that location. Because of this item alone - I am forced to also use Surveillance Pro...

Burglars run after getting fright on their life

Same here, I installed some before setting up cameras and find the lights to be an interference with the cams now. Most of the time the lights don't even make the raccoons or possums flinch. Once in a while a cat might notice and freeze but that's about it. I find them useful at the neighbors...

    Amcrest IP4M-1053E

I have no idea so I will just toss this out as it's the first thing that hits me. Is it possible that the camera is set to operate at 50mhz instead of the normal 60mhz we use in the U.S. ? With that pixelation the cam also looks like it is zoomed past the 12x optical and into the 16x digital...

Burglars run after getting fright on their life

Amazing they didn't even flinch when the light went on. I'd have preferred to hear a 12ga. rack and then some profound statement by Samuel Jackson though.

    Green number by camera name

yes, all the cams are still on Profile 1 and the ones showing the Green 1 are the only ones I have used the Global Override. Okay, This makes sense and apparently I have a lot more tinkering to do as I have not mastered Profiles and schedules yet. Thank you.

    Green number by camera name

I do have a color set but prefer to just put the cam name there - that one is an Amcrest white 853 model on an IP address ending in 131

    Green number by camera name

hmm, yes I did do that recently also, so it wasn't an update and only on the 3 cams with that # - okay. Can you tell me what the #1 means then as I have several items that use the global override. Like why isn't there a #2 ? :-)

    Green number by camera name

Very Top Left right click on your view and half way down the menu "Show Camera Names" turns on that title bar. I keep mine on and suddenly after a recent update this Green #1 starts showing up.

    Green number by camera name

I've been out for a bit and after an update I see a Green number in the title bar by my camera name and can't find what that means. Looked in the most recent help file ("What's New") and tried the feeble search engine here AND using site: blah blah. It's on 3 of my 5 currently connected cams and...

Homeland Security watches what you buy online.

I had always heard that the grocery store was really into this. They don't give out shopping rewards for YOUR benefit - they do it to build that database. I installed a VPN for the first time a few days back and sure enough, Kroger.com has blocked any of the new assigned ISP #'s. A few other...

    Cooler thief hit neighbors house

Line #6 of Post #1 - I went and talked to the neighbor. :) That thought crossed my mind too so I had to go ask them if they set something out to be picked up. I'm no "cooler Karen" LOL I gave him information and a CD to do with as they pleased.

    Cooler thief hit neighbors house

Exactly, and the cam on the far side of the truck has zones on the neighbors vehicles to move the PTZ that way if it detects motion over there (they had a break in before I bought my stuff) and I set a zone near my front door to swing the PTZ there also. So, yes, I have 3 different cams that do...

    Cooler thief hit neighbors house

Yes, I had just sat down and when the PTZ swung that direction to get the plate, I saw that the truck stopped in the middle of the road which was very odd and caught my attention. It doesn't do object tracking but when I saw what was happening, I took control again and had it hit another preset...

License plate detection - 200 feet away - PTZ?

LPR tinkering will take some time and pinning down those distances was a tad trickier than I thought. Just grabbed one at 633 ft to the plate here - and the heat waves are shimmering - but I can read it - LOL can read it here live as it changes through the shimmers.

License plate detection - 200 feet away - PTZ?

I am not pushing the IP2M-853EW - just showing my results. It would be great if others could do similar with other models of PTZ's - especially any 4mp cams. I have a thing for the versatility of a PTZ. Some shots were last night using my night / color settings (starvis) and the day shots were...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

The left wing conspiracy theory is that with higher #'s - the democrats are screaming how THEY would have done better - how Trump didn't take action soon enough - Trump wanted to re-open the country too soon and is now killing people. People should remember though that a full month AFTER Trump...

License plate detection - 200 feet away - PTZ?

and that still keeps the full 1080p ? Geez, I've been testing a lot and just pulled a # off a mailbox 682 ft away.

License plate detection - 200 feet away - PTZ?

I shot a lot of pictures this morning and a few last night without using night LPR settings - so I will need to add more later. I am curious as to what is the best way to show a LOT of pictures on here? I heard that videos should be on youtube then linked here but what is the preferred way to...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

So the counting has changed in Texas where 1 Confirmed case is now counted as up to 17 cases. (due to contact and probable - but still counted as a case) Also posting a news story that half way through shows same thing being discussed in a city council meeting - so don't try the "it's fake -...

License plate detection - 200 feet away - PTZ?

Mine seems to have no degradation up to the full 16x and I will be happy to grab some day and night shots. Currently there are a few cars in the way looking East (July 4th visitors) and looking West is right into the sun currently. This will be fun.

License plate detection - 200 feet away - PTZ?

I have not tested my PTZ Amcrest IP2M-853EW infrared lights at the full 328 ft stated on the box yet and maybe I will tinker with that tonight but I must say, my stop sign is 300 ft away and I can easily get the plates during the day. I can see them with the 12x zoom alone and then the...

    Setting Up PTZ Commands

it seems that my problem was similar to yours in this thread and I solved it in post #4 there by inputting a different cam than what I actually own. Worth a shot. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/lost-ptz-controls-with-firmware-upgrade-solved.47467/

    Cooler thief hit neighbors house

I noted early on that using the PTZ for LPR is just an experiment to see if it could be done and in my situation it works pretty well but I have seen the flaws in this system also and highly recommend just using 2 stationary 12x zoom cams instead for the LPR and then maybe just use the PTZ for a...

    Cooler thief hit neighbors house

Sure - when it is backed up with what I think was overwhelming camera evidence. Glad this forum exists to learn from. The guy didn't have a Facebook page - I was going there next if I could find him and if the cops dropped the ball.

    Cooler thief hit neighbors house

Well, just spoke the the neighbors about their cooler. It turns out that the police ran the plate - and yes it was the person 400 miles from here - so they got his phone # and just called to let them know - but they reached the thiefs father who then apparently called the thief on his cell...

older triggers not showing on timeline

I am a little ticked at myself for not catching that when I set up these folders. Sure enough it was set for 7 days instead of the size limit I had put on it. Thank you so much kind sir - too simple.
