Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

I just found in this forum the pinout of the Dahua camera serial cable here: Dahua IPC unbricking / recovery over serial UART and TFTP It is the same cable as the NVR. It uses the JST ZH connector. I ordered it on Amazon. In 2 days the NVR was recovered. Thanks to the contributors on this forum...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

I've recovered my NVR via serial connection. It was pain in the butt though. F..king Dahua made with this v4.001 impossible to go back and if you do you screw-up the device.

Good luck. Please let me know if you were able to recover the NVR. I will try to do some research on my side.

I see you have the same NVR as I do. Did you notice any issue with IMOHU or Smart PSS connection wit this new version 4? Mine was losing connection to cameras and disconnecting after less then a minute. This never happened with V3.216.

Good for you. Don't try to downgrade back to v3.216. It will brick the NVR.

DO NOT UPGRADE TO THIS Fellows, DO NOT UPGRADE TO THIS VERSION!!!! It will kill your NVR if you device to downgrade later back to v 3.216. I did to my NVR4104 and so to another member of this forum. Looks like due to this Corona time the Dahua engineers decided to "improve the product" with...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

How stupid was I when deiced to give another try to update my NVR4104 to the newer version 4. I had issues every time with it, but was able to downgrade NVR back to v3.216. This time even after reading your post I did the same try and got the exact issue you have - it boots up with Dahua logo...

    NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000001.1.R.190830.zip

Wondering which version 4.xxx doesn't have bugs? So far only v3.216 or below is running smooth. Tried differnt v400xx and every time got a very laggy picture while streaming over SmartPSS or Imou. Any improvement since then? Unless people can tolerate this issue. I can't

    Dahua Firmware update 4.000.0000001.5.R.191206

I have previously tried a previous version 4.000.0001 with my NVR4104-P-4KS2. It made the whole system slow down and lagging. Even the real time video was disconnecting after a minute of play with IMOU or Web browser. I have reverted back to version 3.216. Everything returned back to normal...

I have also noticed that my NVR4104 started to lag significantly after upgrading to V4. Had to revert back to v 3.216.

    NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000001.1.R.190830.zip

I've noticed that after the firmware upgrade the NVR4104-P-4KS2 performance went down. Every time when connecting remotely with IMOU (Easy4IP) a video stops on all 4 channels just a minute after connecting. Need to re-connect every minute. Also after the upgrade from some reason I couldn't make...

    DH_NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V3.216.0000002.0.R.190102

No matter how do I connect the camera. It won't work with neither DH private or ONVIF protocols. Just RTSP. The NVR stopped recognizing it after I upgraded the NVR firmware to the newest one. This is the known issue with the Chinese modded cameras. I thought you would bring some new ideas. Are...

Unfortunately I can't go back to English anymore. The English modded version discussion which was available here in the forum helped with the old FW camera versions, prior to the signature introduction. After that, if you upgrade to any official newer version you have no way to go back to older...

I have 4433C-A. It works if it is Modded from Chinese to English. I had to convert the firmware back to Chinese due to modded FW issue. Since NVR version 3.216 they made something to prevent these cameras to connect. Neither ONVIF works. RtSP only. I also can't mod the camera back to English...

The source location of the Firmware isn't good. The download never completes and hangs. I used Dahua UK website to upload the new Firmware: https://www.dahuasecurity.com/uk/support/downloadCenter/firmware?child=171 From the first glans the web interface looks different. Surprisingly Chrome...

Can you please share how did you connect serially with NVR? Did you make a plug to a 4-pin tiny white connector on the board?

We can try to challenge Dahua o their NVR ONVIF 2.4 certification. If they blocked these Chinese Dahua cameras which used a Private protocol, they can't block the connection over ONVIF. This is an OPEN network protocol. But since the NVR also blocks these cameras over ONVIF- that means that...

I feel your pain. Luckily I have only one camera not working after the upgrade. If your cameras firmware is not signed ( before 2018) you might be able to flash the cameras back to modded English version. Otherwise you might be looking at different NVR.

I also tried to update the camera to English version using UART with TFTP. No go. The camera uses new signed firmware. I couldn't update it. Unless there is another back door. I'm giving up in this shit.

Can't. I have tried it. After this particular version Dahua closed the door. Can't downgrade. The NVR. Neither cameras. Looks like I've made a big mistake buying Dahua cameras and NVR.

Is there any way to downgrade the NVR to an old firmware? Or that's it. Only up. Not down.

    3. Screwed the compatibility with Chinese Dahua cameras. After upgrading the NVR from version 3.215 to this vesrion 3.216 my IPC-HWD4433C-A camera suddenly became not compatible with the NVR. I opened a ticket with Dahua North America. They deferred the ticket to Oversee. Thous guys said that I...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

Now I have established connection between UART device (RPi) and the Camera. But I can't update (downgrade) the Chinese firmware back to English. Is that it? With the new signed firmware there would be no way to apply changes?

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

How to reverse the bootloader? I have found this "UBOOT_commonSwRsaVerify" function. Or at least was able to see this name when the camera booted. I'm not sure what analysis I should be able to make? Version 1.4 is the minimum one allowed to be loaded?

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

The serial interface is still OK. I switched from PC to RPi. Now I don't see gibberish anymore. However when trying to send files over TFTP I'm getting the following message after sending completion: " ER0002:The IMG header be changed!" Any ideas? Thank you.

I tried different serial adapters: one FTDI USB to RS232, second PCMCIA. Also tried different boudrates. Probably neither adaptet was suitable. I will try to buy a new one which was listed at the beginning of the tread. Thanks a lot.
