To answer my own question, you can set the reservation and don't have to change the IP on the NVR.

That's very cool. I didn’t know there was such a thing as hdmi over Ethernet! If a laptop won’t handle it, it's unlikely the old pc would. I might have to put it on the office secretary's i5 NUC then. Maybe try it out on the laptop first until I know what I'm doing.

That would be perfect. I'll find out what camera software is running on the server and what the server is. No problem with a cat5 jack available. Can really low end PC handle that? There's an extra ancient one kicking around and also an old laptop we could hook a monitor to.

It will be even higher fallout if it isn’t fixed- sooner or later all email services will be upgraded meaning the Dahua hardware won’t work for email, not to mention gmail is probably the biggest email service in the world.

Andy, we've done Wireshark tests and freshcoast's tests suggest there is a problem with how the cameras are responding to the use of tls 1.3 by google.

If a brand new gmail account doesn’t work I don’t think a gsuite one will either but I might try it later after breakfast as I have one for work. Tried it, gsuite didn’t work.

Yeah, mine are from Andy too. Can't be my router as the two other stmp servers I tried work fine on the cams, just not google's.

I used a little python script I found online to send a couple emails from my pc using the non-working-on-the-camera gmail address to another email address and it even works fine. So that email address/port works from other email clients, web mail and now python scripts, just not the camera...

I tried that already, brand new account, didn't work. I also tried using 2fa enabled on the account and a generated app specific password. My best guess is that google might be rolling out the inability to use insecure apps unless they can get a confirmation dialogue like what an iPad does when...

Yes I switched over when gmail did this. But now TLS on port 587 isn’t working either.

I am using evohd on my iPad, thanks for the tip. It works well for playback. I can’t get iDMSS to playback events the way it should so except for live view iDMSS is useless until they fix it. I haven’t tried alerts yet and I haven’t tried evoplus on my phone yet either.

I just tried my isp's smtp settings and they also work fine. Oh well, I switched my main 3 cams over to my isp mail and yahoo. Will see how that goes.
