Thats where I am stuck now,, and I presume thats where I will be stuck at even after setting up VPN server. So I want to sort this problem first and then look at VPN after that.

Hi Thanks for your reply. It’s not the cam, but NVR password that I am talking about. I grabbed the NVR configuration file from iVMS-4200. It was a zip file and when I unzipped it, it further contained many files. Here is a screenshot of all files.

This is how it is for all 8 cmeras All cameras record upon Motion Detection except number 8, which is the 2432 (indoor)

WTH ! I just set it to Continuos and still no recordings ! "No record File" under Playback tab

I checked it after reading your message and it was Purple (Other). I then went into Edit > All Day > Motion Detection. Then I clicked Copy to Week > Select All. Then OK, then Save. Now it is Green (Motion Detection). Walked into its FoV. Still no record file :(

I thought they had the same settings. But on a closer look, I found that under ""Linkage Method", Trigger Channel wasn't ticked. I ticked it and walked into the motion detection area. It still didn't record any file. Other than that all settings were similar.

OK, I might be getting close. I just deleted the NVR from my hik-online account and added it back again. What does the 'Platform effective port' mean in the pic below ? I have also disabled uPnP but it hasn't helped (it did eventually, probably needed some time to kick in. See post below)
