FBI Warns Of 'Widespread' QR Code Scams By Cybercriminals To Steal Your Money

The world is going mad, here in India a username and password is no longer considered safe, everything now involves a mobile phone. It’s completely crazy, to check and pay my electricity bill I need a working local SIM that I have to get registered by “popping” into their offices! Used to...

FBI Warns Of 'Widespread' QR Code Scams By Cybercriminals To Steal Your Money

I’m in India right now and had a similar experience. Went to a restaurant that we have been many times before, asked for the menu and got pointed to something on the with a QR code. Now the other people with didn’t have a clue what to do, again we asked, in the end I scanned it, checked the site...

    VLAN Question

By router do you mean what the ISP gives? Here in the UK I don’t think I’ve ever had a router from an ISP that support VLANs and most only come with 4 ports so limits what you can do. If assuming that this router does support it and you create a VLAN for that port and give it internet access...

Defined Subnet versus VLAN: Is there a difference in my example for Blue IrisI

In the above example I personally don’t see the point of implementing VLANs as the traffic has been separated by the dual network cards? If you were to go to the trouble of configuring that then yes BI would be able to see the cams on both subnets.

    Multiple network cards

Each card must have its own IP on a separate subnetwork. If I’ve understood the above then you have used 192.168.0.7, 192.168.0.8 and 192.168.0.9 all these IPs are on the same subnetwork so no wonder the Pc is getting confused as it doesn’t know which card to send the requests to. My BI PC has...

Is BI acting weird for anyone else? one camera sees a truck other 3 cameras see nothing?

GetEvents error / "Events: subscription 8000ffff"

From what I remember about this issue it had to do with a mismatch between the authentication request time and what the camera evaluated time was taking into account time zone settings. I also had a similar issue way back when and disabled authentication in the cam itself as my cams are on...

I used to be that guy that always updates but over the years had a few issues so now only update to whatever stable release I’m allowed to use. BI is great if you’re a tinkerer and accept the associated risks but I just stick with stable releases no matter how old as at the end of the day it is...

The amount of cameras mounted on a house in my neighborhood

This, my wife would never ever on any month of Sunday including leap years allow any of that crap in what otherwise looks like a very nice house. why u no port forwarding u stupid router...

If your ISP uses CGNAT then you don’t get an IPv4 IP that you can use to port forward so you have 3 main options, first is to ask the ISP to move you, second is to use either Zerotier or Tailscale ( which is what I personally use, the last is to setup a VPN so that you can VPN into your home...

I too sort of hated substreams when they were first introduced, hated the blip you got when full screening a cam but BI and that blip has now been fine tuned to a point where I’ve either got used to it or it just not that noticeable now.
