They also make MOCA adapters that claim 1gig transmission ability with the 2.5 moca adapters. I have never used any but they are supposed to be plug and play.

I did it once but forgot how. I think i used VLC to check the stream before adding the channels to my BI computer. I'm gonna post stream that is similar to what i used i think.... rtsp:/192.168.0.118:554/unicast/c1/s0/live or maybe it was rtsp:/192.168.0.118/unicast/c1/s0/live I possibly...

Did I buy the wrong cable for POE (increased the risk of lightning/surge etc)?

I had to sit in on several ANSI/EIA/TIA-607 standards classes. I can't argue with any recomendations, and especially agree with float your equement away from a metal bulding...or place a piece of wood on non conductive box if you are mounting to a metal building. If lightening hits it's gonna...

Did I buy the wrong cable for POE (increased the risk of lightning/surge etc)?

I think you'll be fine. You may have paid more for the shielded foil cable' but if your using it the same as you would unshielded twisted pr. (same unshielded connectors) I don't think you'l see much difference. As far as running a higher risk of lightning, my experience says no unless you...

    Camera Water Issue

We dropped two hard drives onto the pavement outside a Marathon gas station. (from about waist high, not from a ladder) After installation neither worked. (my boss has a good supplier but best they usually do in such circumstances is give you a discount)

    Camera Water Issue

I have seen this exact problem. The camera had been dropped from a ladder onto a driveway during installation. It looked ok so we went ahead and mounted it under the eave. Had to come back rather quickly due to moisture inside camera.

I may try again one day. Currently i have no use for the xvr at this time. I think it was a simple procedural error on my part. If i could figure out how to turn my lorex nvr into one with dahua firmware i'd be pleased. Heck i'm still working on my rtsp feeds from my current nvr to send to my...

I found one of these cameras that was given to me uninitilized and never used. OEM - It laid around my basement for about 3 or 4 years. I have two 8mp cams on 1/2.7 sensors. They look great in daylight. I have a bright driveway light. About 1 year ago 3 kids in hoodies were trying door handles on cars. they tryde mine (it was locked) but even with a fairly bright driveway light they were very blury and impossible to identify...

Looking for an NVR for 5 cameras

Looking for an NVR for 5 cameras

No reason at all to use any NVR other than Reolink if that is the cameras you have. The price of a reolink nvr is no more than any other nvr with the same capabilities. Reolink has cornered the consumer market for some reason? I built a nice BI computer a few years ago but am too stupid to...

    Dahua Camera and NVR recommendation

I'd like a 8 or 16 channel smart nvr with a a few 1/1.2 or 1/1,8 cameras. edit to say i finally installed one of the 4mp cams from empire tech that has a 1/1.8 sensor. My other cameras are 8mp with 1/2.7 senseors. When it got dark the cam with the 1/1.8 sensor had a much better picture. With...

I may start bidding on some installs using Dahua or oem Dahua equipment.

Yes it is. The plastic base can screw on to a PFA136 Junction box for Dahua IP Camera with a gasket, then the camera slides in place with a set screw in the back. (you gotta have plenty of ambiant lighting at night for the 1/2.7)

I may start bidding on some installs using Dahua or oem Dahua equipment.

I'd also probably go with different model cameras, especially for the residential installs with less ambient light. I can't compete with what 1 company pays for the lite series 4k w ai cameras. I cant purchase 100 at a time, but i can offer beter low light cameras and still make money.
