Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

overview camera is already in place as noted in 1st post. No flood light implied as I used term spilled. Just a normal residential post lamp at the driveway entrance. yes...a trench is being dug. Conduit or 2nd trench will not. A trench was not mentioned in 1st post as it was not in scope of...

Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

I will keep that in mind for the future, thank you. This post was not about electrical code or direct burial vs conduit. simply stated, Last option I would consider is a light. Added cost of conduit, bigger trench, direct burial wire if no conduit, cost of the light post, the impact on the...

Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

I will test the wash back again. one thing I failed to recognize (you reminded me when you said flush) was the other cameras were mounted at 15 feet. I could not get them flush with out being noticeable. These cameras will almost be at plate level, so I may get lucky on this install. thanks

do you have alot of street light in that application? I did some testing with a similar camera and it did not perform well.

Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

Thank you for the information. This is not a new install so I know the use case here pretty well. Security of the camera will not be an issue as the mounting location has camera coverage already. They will be hidden. The IR will wash back. I will do some testing with external IR and the 2...

Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

ok. so I will need to mount an external IR or lamp post. Not sure which would draw more attention on my street. I can power the IR over POE. If I did install the light post, my thought was the light would not spill far enough since it would not be a flood light. I will have to look more at...

Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

I think this is the camera I was looking at last year. You think that this would work in a no light application? I may not be able to use the IR of the camera due to reflection once I mount them.

Camera to read License plates / Not APR or LPR

I looked at some cameras to capture license plates on the street during an upgrade last year but decided the investment was not worth it. However, we have has some incidents of people taking pictures. It is unclear if they were taking pictures of the house or the kids outside. For obvious...

Sentry Updates / Changes / Price Increase?

It did take them almost 2 months to reply to my ticket on the site, so guess they are focused on the big buck corporate version.

Sentry Updates / Changes / Price Increase?

Received this reply from support. Some of this is pretty vague, but talks of price increase, commercial versions, and no planned updates for the BI home versions? I was really hoping they would expand on features for the home version. No info is available on commercial version without a...

server 2016 high CPU usage live view over RDP, No Graphics Card, 4K cameras.

Thank you for everyone's input and testing. Wanted to give you an update. I moved bi over to the HP Mini, Elitedesk and reran the test. Testing went so well that I reconfigured all test cameras ( 6 4k cameras) to 12 FPS, vbr with max bit rate of 7120 and quality 6. I am no longer limiting...

server 2016 high CPU usage live view over RDP, No Graphics Card, 4K cameras.

that is what I was thinking by installing on the hp desktop mini. It would be a win 10 build on an i7 processor. The only issue would be storage space, so it would need to write back to the file-share on the server. No the best solution as it introduces another failure point.

server 2016 high CPU usage live view over RDP, No Graphics Card, 4K cameras.

Thank you for toes numbers. I did do some more testing and found that the issue is independent of bi. I ran into the same issue playing bi 4k videos in media player as well as YouTube 4k streams. It may be the OS as the version of server 2016 I am running is datacenter. I do have desktop...

server 2016 high CPU usage live view over RDP, No Graphics Card, 4K cameras.

I have mine set to 3 fps as well. Helps keep it 65-75% in live view, but playback hits 100 and has major motion blur.

There is not a GPU monitor in datacenter 2016. I believe MS brought that back in server 2019.

h.264. Had to log into the cameras just to make sure. 3840*2160 8 fps VBR Max bit rate is 5764 Ifram is 16 I changed it to VBR for testing. constant bit rate did not seem to have an impact.

hey there...thanks for replying. The data sheet I was looking at referenced the wrong bridge. Thank you for pointing that out. I did confirm that direct to disk is enabled on each camera. I also logged direct into the server and looks like that gives me a little less the 10% reduction. So I...

server 2016 high CPU usage live view over RDP, No Graphics Card, 4K cameras.

I think I may have found the problem. The i7-3770 is running on sandy bridge and cant handle 4k without using an gpu. the the gpu in the processor is bottle neck here. So I may price out a newer processor instead of a graphics card. Anyone else find this processor to be an issue when using 4k?

server 2016 high CPU usage live view over RDP, No Graphics Card, 4K cameras.

So I guess if there are no more suggestions I am going to look for a graphics card as a surveillance system without the ability to play back is kinda pointless. I am thinking that I do not need a card that I can offload via hardware acceleration since my CPU usage is under 40% when just...
