so I call up my city electric co-op and appearntly its only $1k for a connection drop to connect to the grid, but we have to get an electrician to install the meters and outlet etc.
Internet to the camera would be additional on going monthly cost I'm trying to avoid. 2 of the 4 entrance has electric hook up. But 2 doesn't... Well 1 does but it's across a pond... Too dang far away
The problem is we have bigger fish to fry with our budget....
Changing the declaration.... Fixing up the landscaping the builder gave to us in crappy condition. Install aerator in the retention pond so we don't get nasty algae bloom... Etc...
That's a fall back option but at like $500 to start for a z12e + nvr + hd + accessories its a tough pill to swallow for most home owner coming from ring cameras. And hard to get the homeowner with the best view to sign up
Mostly I can work line of sight so it's not block by any house, but there will be some trees or bush in between, not a forest, maybe 2 or 3 at most and bush I can probably work with landscaper to trim them back if they are in common area.
Thanks a lot to Wade through.
As for solar... Flock are primarily solar no?
If we install ourselves it will all be diy anyway I'm not averted to installing a couple panels 12v lifepo4 and the bms/charger.
We are 310 houses and researching all options DIY and vendor managed (several instance of crew stealing from parked car and even 1 car stolen). hoping to pick everyone's brain here for past experience/insight
Flock is everywhere but like $1700+ per cam per year thats pushing the willingness of...
I don't have BI but for this I'm wiling to buy it assuming this LPR functionality is not planned to be a subscription type feature once it is out of beta?
I'm assuming this won't work with a standalone dahua NVR (even if i can have a Windows/Linux server to pull the RTSP stream from the camera?)
What's the iframe set at, too short and you get these fast flicker, too high you get a big "pop" type change. Usually I think 1x FPS is ideal
Lower the gain to 30 if your ir fill light is working. How are you turning that on anyway? Programmable plug switch? A build in light sensor?
switch...
Why do you need a wooden bracket?
May but be ideal but the combination of tilting the head up and down
and...
Rotating the cross frame clock wise or counter clock wise you should have the "reach" to point it anywhere, the light may end up looking at a diagonal or tilted. If you don't care...
These are waterproof but you still need to waterproof the 12v end

This was my v1 if you Change the lens maybe good enough. I was using this recently for a while with 1/500 and 7 degree lens when...
1) open the iris all the way it let in more light (but it reduce the in Focus "zone" so you really have to dial in the ir focus)
2) be aware night IR focus is different than daylight focus. Most of us have a way to manually set the focus around sunrise and sunset
3) I had success with 1/500...
the little bright dot is a piece of retroreflective safety plate. its my sanity check that the camera is indeed still aimed correctly and still working this isi with the laser IR 7 degree spot light.
If i crank down the shutter speed, you see in the top left my neighbor's house is blocking...
1) BI18 with 90 degree lens is probably way too wide... How FAR is the target area?
2) per earlier, i ended up going with LASER infrared.... 7 degree lens.

That's what I was hoping for... Clause and language outlining access. You provide live access to resident? With 300+ lot not sure if that's feasible for us.
We have 2 lighted entrance sign we maybe able to hide the camera behind and supply power but the enclosure for the nvr is something we need to figure out.
The hosted option does offer some benefit in neutrality and access audit tracking and chain is evidence custody
So nothing about resources...
I'm in a new build sub-division that's getting closed to owner take over from builder for the HOA. While our sub division is very nice, unfortunately we live off of a main route where drag racing is not infrequent (can hear the racing engine noise a couple times a week) sometime they turn into...

One of the loryta on my nvr port wasn't enough to drive a ptz speeddome + a 4k mini turret. But using the splitter combiner with 2 ports work. I supposed it maybe able to drive 3 or 4 on turrets but those are low power
The surface mounted wall box I was using also can't hide the loryta where...
These work great too, and works better for high power application at the expense that you can't Cascade it further. But if you are plug into the poe nvr port, they will still auto map correctly where the loryta switch would mess up the nvr auto port mapping
