Bobcat nearly snatches some of my chickens...

ouch! My auto door is pretty good about stopping for something like that. Nobody needs to see 45 min of chicken kill video. What camera are you using in the coop?

Mine didn't end so well....45 min of a fox in the run....and 6 dead chickens later.

I flashed a few times with no luck. So then I re-downloaded and flashed again and no luck. Then I reset to factory defaults AGAIN and now it's working. Just posting this here for others.

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

I just updated and having problems with the live view on latest version of chrome and edge. Also the old NACL plugin will not let me login. I was able to use internet explorer to see a live view though. Odd. EDIT: I had to do everything twice to get it to work. First time was attempt...

Apparently I'm going to be the Guinea pig on this one. Upgrade went very fast. However two small problems. 1. Live preview does NOT work for me in latest version of Chrome or Edge. 2. Using the old NACL plugin I can not login. I get an error message that says "Failed to login the plugin!"...

homerun all data cables in new home addition, or just a few?

A little bit more work...but might make those 26 runs easier. Can you get a really good accurate measurement for the longest line you have to run? If so...pre cut all 26 and pull them all at once if you can. Or Beer/Pizza and friends :-)

homerun all data cables in new home addition, or just a few?

    1. No. It for centralization of those lines and a single management point. I don't see troubleshooting changing much. 2. Yes it would/should easily handle the traffic (That I could imagine one to have in a house) fine. If you have physical constraints to running the wire that's another story...

homerun all data cables in new home addition, or just a few?

If it was me, homeruns for sure!! I'd also run twice as many as you think you'll need. Running cable in new builds is so easy and flexible...that for the cost of the cable do it now! Even if you don't wall plate/terminate them all...at least they are there. Just number/mark them. For your...

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

Mine is outside during our long and cold winters and has held up fine....I think. The only thing I swear is going on is the image is getting darker over time...but I don't have a good way to prove that. Mine is setup in the back field and generally only auto tracks deer and other animals in...

A prototype for alerting based on object detection

The technology that's available now is fun to mess around with. I did this with some python scripts and the sighthound API a few years ago. Had it tuned pretty good to then go through my home automation system to handle the alerts and tracking of the same vehicle. It worked great for eliminating...

    Little help with exposure

So I think what I have been seeing is a gradual change. Meaning the image wasn't only like this and it didn't happen over night. I've thought it was looking dark but finally I can really tell. Yes plastic film is off. I've had this camera working great I might add for almost 2 years I think. I...

    Little help with exposure

In addition to trying both those things I also played with other exposure settings and brightness. Turning up the brightness just washed everything out. I haven't changed these settings for over a year. Is it possible something is wrong with the camera?

    Little help with exposure

I have a Dahua PTZ SD59225U-HNI . It's picture has been seemingly dark. Something I think I've noticed but not really paid much attention to until today. Even though most of the scene is snow. The image is very dark compared to my other cams (5231s).

    No recordings after 20191231?

These are both dedicated drives...no files whatsoever on them outside of BI clips. C: drive is dedicated OS drive and BI program files with DB on them. It's a 256G SSD drive with over half of that space free.

    No recordings after 20191231?

I was going by the BI manual which states "A drive should always be configured with enough headroom for a complete clip from each camera that’s recording to that drive" which in my case is 25G (for all cameras). By all means I can up that a bit.

    No recordings after 20191231?

I just showed you my allocation...it wasn't over allocated. I don't know what happens. All I know is that I do have to manually delete files to get it back up and running again. And it isn't consistent. Possibly a write error? Move error? Permissions error? I don't know. But it is NOT over...

    No recordings after 20191231?

Nope, sure didn't...the settings haven't changed in months. The fix is a bug in BI. This system has been working with these drives for a few years now. The cycling of videos from my "new" drive (SSD drive) 500G 465 formatted and I allocate 420G to BI. The ONLY thing on that drive is a NEW...

    No recordings after 20191231?

Do you know how that happens? Meaning it's been running great for months...then all of a sudden it gets that error. Then when it does over allocate. what's the best way to fix it. Do I just need to delete enough clips from the over allocated drive to get it under the proper allocation and...

    No recordings after 20191231?

So I have had this happen to...and oddly on Jan 1st also. It seems maybe once a year my drives fill up and BI stops recording clips (obviously drives are full). I'm running the same setup with some buffer on all my drives. I don't set the limits right at the max. I generally have to go in and...

That is more location dependent. That being said mine indoors in a corner surrounded by 3 white walls is a non issue. Of course the paint is flat which helps.

    Upgraded to 5, no problems

I'm not sure you need to do that anymore. UI3 was in 5 and accessable if you go to http://IPADDR:PORT/UI3.htm. It looks like there is a checkbox to default to this on non IE browsers...just doesn't seem to be working. A simple redirect from default.htm should be all that's needed for me...

I upgraded yesterday too...no issues. Did not have to change www folder either. Still running great today. Only issue I see is when accessing via www...chrome gets redirected to http://192.168.13.60:81/default.htm and not the /ui3 page. Even with that setting on. Otherwise it's running fine.

    Pre-Trigger Buffer with Sentry

Ahhhhhh...that makes a lot more sense as to why I'm seeing that. No wonder the hit rate is so low. With my sighthound integration I save the initial image captured, if I get a hit then I SMS that image.
