Hikvision DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3/W shows 'offline' in Hik-Connect but is actually online - how can this be?

It is running on wifi alone, but when I had it connected by cable I was able to view it in Hik-Connect. I have another 4 of these and they are also connected by wifi and working well. Perhaps I need to update the firmware? The firmware details are - firmwareCode =...

Internet Explorer browser replacement on Windows10 to view Hikvision live view, configuration, etc

I really like the facility to view Hikvision live view, configuration, etc but I'm conscious that support for this browser is coming to an end. Is there another browser that will support me logging on using my Windows 10 PC please? Also, other than Hik-Connect, is there a browser / method...

Hikvision DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3/W shows 'offline' in Hik-Connect but is actually online - how can this be?

I have just set up another PTZ DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3/W and it is definitely online as (having port forwarded), I can view it online as a test. I have activated it for Hik-Connect but for whatever reason I cannot view it as it is constantly showing 'offline'. Is there something simple I've failed...

<SOLVED> Notification for whenever a home router is switched off - is there an easy method?

Thanks fergenheimer, I'm not into the programming side and am happy I've found a solution in Uptimerobot however I'm interested in your synology setup. I'm assuming it's remote to the camera, is that the case please? I'm trying to work out the logistics of having a remote NAS at my home or...

<SOLVED> Notification for whenever a home router is switched off - is there an easy method?

OK, I didn't really want to get dragged into this but I've attached the screen captures to demonstrate what I'm referring to. "user8963", I'm not sure what you look at in your spare time but that's not for me. As I said, the cameras are positioned at the front entrance. These are city centre...

<SOLVED> Notification for whenever a home router is switched off - is there an easy method?

This is the solution I've been looking for (Uptimerobot). Without any cost I can monitor the camera ports and have them checked every 5 mins. It even has an app which runs on my Android. Unfortunately, there is a cost with ipct Uptime Watchdog once you get past the 1st monitor whereas...

<SOLVED> Notification for whenever a home router is switched off - is there an easy method?

Thanks to everyone for such interesting thoughts and advice, much of which is way over my head. To give a little bit of history, 2 days ago I had to go to a property because I was unable to view the IP cam protecting it. I was suspicious that for example, the camera might have been pulled off...

<SOLVED> Notification for whenever a home router is switched off - is there an easy method?

Our Hikvision IP cameras are installed at remote properties and the easy way to disable them is to simply switch off the router. Is there any simple method of creating an alert when a router is switched off?

Looking for external port number of a Hikvision camera - can I get it from Hik-Connect or iVMS-4200?

My camera has been up and running at a remote location for months and is accessible via Hik-Connect and iVMS The external link however has suddenly failed although I've confirmed the exterior IP address has not and so I'm assuming either the port has changed or that the router has stopped...

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

I have checked this with the police a number of years ago. They think it's a great idea to deter prostitution but advise simply that the camera must only be pointed in towards the entrance and not onto the street. I would respectfully disagree. Guests are made aware of rules before booking and...

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

This all sounds a bit complex. I have a VPN on my phone so that when on holiday I can access BBC from the UK but have never used it as a tunnel before. Would I need a separate VPN account for each property?

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

Thanks for your post. Forgive my ignorance, but I'd though I had to port forward to access the stream from the IP Camera? If I were to setup a VPN, would it be on the remote router or on my home router? Or perhaps it might even be on the IP Camera?

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

That is correct, a few years ago we had an attempted break in to a car parked outside. In this instance, we needed to have images / footage but unfortunately did not. This is a risk we have to take, it's more important to have the cameras there even as a deterent.

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

If you remember Teken, I have now invested in Hikvision cameras which I'm really happy with as well as there software. I'm also using the SD card back up in each camera, the problem is that I want to store the images / video at my home using a NAS connected to my PC. The properties are outside...

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

I'm only a little further on with this project in that I have now upgraded all properties internet to fibre and so now have fast connection from each so that I can now comfortably view live motion using Hik-Connect. I'm also running IVMS-4200 from my PC but this is not ideal. I'd still really...

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

Apologies for not explaining my setup initially, I wish we were a big organisation with a large budget for security but in reality we are a small family concern with 5 holiday home apartments in Belfast (N.Ireland) city centre. We rent these apartments short term on booking.com, AirBnB, etc but...

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

Thanks for your thoughts Teken. I do have SD cards installed in each of them set to record, but one of the annoying things about this is the low broadband speed at the properties means that playback barely works even though I've set the video and audio to substream. Cloud storage is a bit...

Newbie question - Is it sensible to use an NVR for recording images from remote IP Cameras or should I use an alternative method?

Apologies in advance for asking such a simple question but I have 5 Hikvision cameras at different remote sites all with different (No-ip) IP addresses and I'd like to store any images off site. I have iVMS-4500 and Hik-Connect on my Android phone as well as iVMS-4200 3.4.0.10 Client on my PC...

General newbie question about NVR's for remote captures of Hikvision cameras before purchase

I own 5 Hikvision cameras (soon to be expanded), 1 at each different property with different IP addresses and am looking for a way to view and store the data at home miles away. I'm totally new to NVR's and am trying to understand the technology. Could I ask for advise please on - 1 Each of the...

Thanks for this, I've enabled this stream too but it's still not working. I'm guessing it's the wrong mic too and am about to ask looney2ns for more information on the link to the micro 7

Problems setting up audio on Hikvision Dome DS-2CD2142FWD-IWS

Thanks for this Alastair. The good news is that I didn't know that drop down was there as I'd thought it was only 'video' on the video tab. Thanks so much for that. The bad news is that it's still not working even with the volume turned up. In the simply non powered mic, I've attached the...

Problems setting up audio on Hikvision Dome DS-2CD2142FWD-IWS

I bought this IP after reading that it had audio capability, but being totally new to Hikvision I didn't realise that it meant I had to add a mic. There's an plug connector which has 4 terminals - In Out and 2 Ground. I've spent hours trying to connect both an unpowered mic and a powered one...
