    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

Problem 80% resolved! It turns out it was a combination of both windows having made it public instead of private (I failed to reboot after making the change) and also after the reboot it did not work until I snoozed ZA and tried again then Finally I got the prompt for a blue iris connection...

5.0.3 - New Edge Vector Motion Algorithm

reading this thread at 3am because I just switched to V5 yesterday and was shocked that it didn't catch any movement of a catalytic converter thief an hour ago. I had to manually alert for it after just barely catching it and it didn't pickup any movement outside from the police or resident out...

    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

I'm also wondering if this newer looking feature for port triggering could be used instead of port forwarding for BI? https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/114110 "WAN - Port Trigger ~ Port Trigger allows you to temporarily open data ports when LAN devices require unrestricted access to the...

    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

Yeah I was planning on tackling that as soon as I solved this issue before jumping to the next level but it might be my only way out now, and in ZA's defense it has performed flawlessly for well over a decade. I double checked its rules and tried manual mode which shows every single connection...

    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

Checker showed it failed, port closed and I've tried deleting and recreating it already to no avail. I even forced the rule name to be Blue Iris thinking it had to be exactly that, I've disabled and re-enabled the port forwarding master button, rebooted everything multiple times and did another...

    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

You were correct it did do that, I moved the network back to private but port is still timing out. I have tried disabling windows firewall, zonealarm and the routers firewall all at once and still nothing! There's no other filtering enabled and the router has no other issues and was performing...

    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

That's usually the first thing I check and comcast barely refreshes them as much as they used to so haven't needed to in a long time but yes it's all the same.

    Port forwarding suddenly stopped working..

I've noticed for awhile after an old android app update that the wan connection was slow to connect and load vs the speed on lan but I put up with it and double notifications for the same alert for awhile. I don't know if that helps at all but suddenly I can't connect at all by wan now. Thought...

    Foreign user? "local_console"

odd that didn't come up when I searched BI section for "local_console" but that explains why it had a pw since it was copied from admin account back then, thank you!

    Hikvision PTZ having trouble focusing?

I'm a younger and strict whole food plant based vegan so I doubt it's that haha!

    Foreign user? "local_console"

When I first setup BI years ago there were only ever 2 users I created. At some point during an update I noticed a 3rd user account called "local_console" but didn't think much of it at the time. Today I inspected it closer and revealed its password set for it which was something like 33egl34ee...

    Hikvision PTZ having trouble focusing?

So based on the lack of responses and no other case of this when searching I figured it really must be something easy I'm missing. I read this comment "that anything other than 10cm causes an out-of-focus picture when zooming out to Z20." on this thread Mini outdoor PTZ : DS-2DE4A220IW-DE and...

    Hikvision PTZ having trouble focusing?

Hey guys, I started noticing that my DS-2DE4A220IW is not refocusing with optical zoom as it used to when new. I had no other issues with it and I'm wondering what could be causing it.. I first noticed it at night but now in the day time it also won't refocus after zooming, it just sort of...

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

I must be new to this can of worms because I can't believe there isn't a definitive studied answer regarding this. Cool mystery I suppose thank you for the replies!

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

Understood but doesn't that mean closely neighboring properties will already suffer this fate anyway? Our grounds aren't bonded with the neighbors ground which in some cases can be under 20-30ft apart.

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

Is it because even though it is "NOT part of any full-time, current sourcing or current sinking device or system" it can cause the potential difference in the rare event the lightning strike cause both grounds to be used simultaneously?
  17. TheWhiteKnight

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

Do you mind explaining why you prefer an independent driven ground rod instead of plumbing pipes / existing ground? I'm curious because that's exactly what Xfinity was about to do until I stopped them and from what I was told it's normal practice.

I am taking your advice just trying to learn more. Thanks a lot for your help it makes sense!

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

Well said thank you for that. What about when it's in a city and the individual grounding rods for each townhome are already so close to the neighboring townhome grounding rods, doesn't that make the idea of multiple ground rods having a different potential senseless? Is there a certain amount...

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

I thought that was for the CAT only sorry had to take a double take and yes fenderman ftw! I remember reading some kind of law or code about having more than one grounding rod for the same property not being allowed.. I remember because Xfinity wanted to ground it to the plumbing since the...

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

Thank the gods, it turned out it was the switch. While it still came on, it stopped providing any POE and wouldn't register an uplink. I'm almost certain the surge came through the coaxial cable as well. Any recommendations for a product that can quickly ground it before permanently doing so...

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

So basically I have no other choice but to get the ladder out? Is there a chance the CAT cable itself is fried or is that impossible?

Lightning may have damaged my cameras!

Hey guys! Lightning struck my place and I did not have my components in a surge protector at the moment it happened which was also by chance because normally it is protected. The timing sucks but initially it looked as if the only component that fried was the modem. The other parts being the...

    Login Logout & Clips Notifications

I actually think I fixed it now, apparently it's not in the general app options or individual cameras it's instead in the status section under "status alerts", remote access was enabled and disabling resolved the frustrating issue. Not sure where the clips/status option was coming from however...

    Login Logout & Clips Notifications

So somehow a setting got changed and now i'm receiving these endless login and logout notifications from users (seemingly only to the admin account) through the Android BI app. I'm also getting a clips notification that gives a status of the clips and computer. It's driving me crazy and the...

Numerous "Move: nothing to do" log errors?

oh okay. I only called it an error because BI calls it that in the log "20 errors", it's just a minor inconvenience I was curious about. Thanks

Numerous "Move: nothing to do" log errors?

I've been getting hundreds of this error ever since adding my first PTZ and I can't seem to find anything about it. Any ideas what's causing it?

    Backdoor found in Hikvision cameras

Yeah it was just the UPnP test that came back ok but I will dive into the VPN setup as soon as possible. Good to know the BI app is an exception, can you confirm if the 2CD2T42WD's are excluded from the backdoor vulnerability?

    Backdoor found in Hikvision cameras

Am I right that the DS-2CD2T42WD-I5 is excluded from that list? I see the FWD's are but don't see WD's. Currently on 5.4.1 Build 160525 I also see here that UPnP is not a good practice and luckily have it disabled everywhere already but didn't know port forwarding is frowned on. The only...
