    Deepstack picture resolution

On thing to keep in mind is that DeepStack will scale the image to the required input size of the model, that being 256x256, 416x416 or 640x640 depending on whether you have selected low, medium or high settings in DeepStack. Using the sub-stream as input to DeepStack therefore makes sense as it...

    New ColorVu cameras

What you're seeing is the result of the inverse square law. Your camera and light sources are about the same distance from the subject and the camera sets its exposure based on the bright areas, but in reality, at 20 feet the brightness is only 1/4th of what it is at 10 feet, and at 40 feet it's...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

Could it be that with the larger sensor size, the optics don't fit inside the turret as easily? That being said, I picked up one of each of the HikVision turrets (8MP + 4MP ColorVu) Andy has listed and they are significantly larger than the Dahua 4MP turrets. Or maybe they sell way more of the...

    Lit up neighbors

On the bright side, your neighbor shouldn't have any issues when you put up your own 2 billion watt driveway light to supplement your cameras :) One thing that stands out in your cell phone picture is that that the exposure is wrong. Your driveway and car are too dark. Did you provide any...

Sudden gust takes out test rig with new cam

I had a HDW5231R become somewhat myopic after I accidentally made my test rig tip over. It works fine zoomed out, but the more zoomed in, the more trouble it has focusing. Sounds like yours fared better :)

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

It's because of the difference in sensor size. The 5231 would have to have a 2.0mm lens to have the same field of view as the 5442 with a 2.8mm. On the same note, a 5231 with a 4mm lens has about the same field of view as a 5442 with a 6mm lens with the 5442 having a slightly more narrow field...

LPR Camera Tuning - Supplemental IR

Additional IR would certainly be desirable at that distance. I use a Bosch UFLED20-8BD AEGIS with a 20 degree beam at 120 feet which works great. They were being sold at a heavy discounted before they were discontinued. Scene Electronics have various models available with 15 degree beams. When...

How about this angle for LPR?

I use a Bosch UFLED20-8BD AEGIS 850nm, 20° that I picked up for ~$230 before it was discontinued. It works great at that distance, but unfortunately no longer available. Scene Electronics have illuminators with 15 degree beams available on AliExpress. They have additional models listed on their...

    Danua's White paper on Starlight

And with larger sensors the lenses will have to be physically larger too. The 12mm F/2 (focal view comparable to a 4mm on the 1/2.8" Starlights) lens I have on my 4/3 Dahua is significantly larger than lenses in the usual 2MP starlights. Longer focal lengths at the same aperture would require an...

Latest New 20181228 Firmware for DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea

Updated the firmware on my IPC-HFW4239T-ASE and one of my 5231R-Zs. Working fine so far. Great to see live view, playback and configuration working without any plugin. Also, the second sub-stream now appears to support full resolution, as well as recording a custom region at its full resolution.

Your current preferred way to access BI on cell phone?

I have been using OpenVPN + Blue Iris App on my iPhone so far, but been playing with switching to UI3 behind a nginx reverse proxy providing TLS with client certificate authentication. I have it all set up and have been testing it locally and it works quite well. I find the UI3 interface...

    Front Door camera for ID

Which direction is your front door facing? My entrance is south facing and if I mount my front door camera too low I will have problems whenever it faces the sun, especially during winter when the sun is sitting lower.

@bigredfish Did you mean these cameras? They are 4MP with 1/1.8" sensors.

    Hikvision Releases ColorVu IP cameras

I'm happy to see that they'll be available in turret form since Dahua has been neglecting releasing turrets for their Full Color and StarLight+ IP cameras so far (though they have been releasing turrets for HDCVI). I picked up one of Dahua's Full Color bullets, but I'd much rather have it as a...

    Hyper-threading CPU tests

Nice work, @bp2008! How exactly are you scheduling the work? Are you scheduling n jobs every 1 second, n/10 jobs every 100ms, n/100 jobs every 10ms (where n is the target number of jobs per second)?

Public WiFi and Open VPN being blocked.

I don't know the details of the OpenVPN protocol, but it doesn't look like HTTPS. It's using TLS, but only for the control channel. The data channel is encrypted using an OpenVPN specific protocol using an ephemeral key exchanged using the control channel. And even if the VPN traffic was wrapped...

Public WiFi and Open VPN being blocked.

For added security, enable tls-auth. With tls-auth enabled, the OpenVPN will only respond to clients that know a pre-shared secret key which is used for signing messages between server and client. That means if you're using UDP, an attacker can't even probe the server port to determine if...

Public WiFi and Open VPN being blocked.

You may have more success with using TCP in cases where they are simply restricting access to TCP + port 80/443. It won't help if they intentionally want to block VPN and are employing deep packet inspection to do so, in which case you'll have to fall back to your data plan as suggested above.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E Motion Blurr

For the ghosting at the end, besides ensuring your shutter speed is high enough, also make sure you haven't set the 3D NR too high. For daylight I would keep it at less than 30. If nothing seems to help, try starting out fresh by restoring the settings to factory defaults and post screenshots...

    color night vision

It's meaningless... The "pro" SLR has a F3.5 lens. The spec sheet for the LaView camera does not list aperture, but the SLR likely has a a 2-3 stop disadvantage due to the choice of lens. They don't specify shutter speed either. Lots of motion blur in the LaView color video. Hard to tell if...

Malicious OGNL Expression Upload from BI?

Are you port-forwarding traffic to Blue Iris? If 208.76.202.112 is your IP then it sounds like 80.97.220.35 was probing your machine for vulnerabilities, which Norton AV blocked. From the description here, it appears to be a vulnerability in Apache Struts, not something Blue Iris would be...

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

I wonder what sensor it's using. Sony announced a 4K sensor, the IMX334, 4 months ago. I've been waiting to see how that sensor would turn out. But according to Sony, that's a 1/1.8" sensor, not a 1/2" sensor as Dahua has it. Could they be used something different, like in their recent 5MP...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

The reason why the CPU usage of the i7-8700K appears to be affected so heavily is likely due to hyper-threading. Your CPU has 6 cores, which with hyper-threading appears as 12 logical processors. Whenever two logical processors on the same core are in use, you'll see an improvement on...

How can I improve on this facial image?

You're right. The image is 7786x3000. It's shot on a Nikon D3100 from the EXIF data, which appears to be a 14.2MP camera. Presumably it's a composite of multiple shots since the final shot is almost 24MP.
