I only spent a couple of minutes looking at their site, but they appear to be marketing to industrial and military customers. The products I looked at were hardened (NSA certified) and/or ruggedized. Their "about us" indicates they provide solutions to Traffic, Railway, Security, SCADA, etc...

I agree, but this could also be driven by the reporters. Maybe they didn't want to deal with an external file and thought it would be easier to edit by just filming the monitor.

Also a lot of this is unchecked/out of control government spending. It's not like they're spending their own money and as soon as somebody tries to push back on a budget increase, all you hear is "think of the children" or "we need to pay the police" or whatever. Even though nobody is asking...

Actually, the "N" looks narrower on the back. Is it possible that they squish the font on the back plates? What about the other numbers/letters?

I was reading this as SEVEN alarm inputs and thought that was wrong, but looking at the picture I see lots more wires that my PTZ. So does it really have 7 inputs?

Wow that zoom is amazing! For me, it's great from a cool factor, but really don't have a good location to use it. I'm already maxing out with 25x from my current installation locations and don't have a good place to put a camera that can see up/down a street like that. Still may need to get...

Python is a pretty fun language to use and could do this pretty easily. A bit of a learning curve, but tons of examples out there to get started and something like this wouldn't require much more than learning a basic python app along with how to process files/folders.

I only put an SD card in one camera just to see how it worked, but as prices continue to drop, I'm definitely thinking of adding them to a few more cams. Slickdeals.com has been showing lots of deals on good quality cards pretty cheap recently.

The mention of Frys makes me shiver. Actually I do shop there since there's one across the street from work. But I never buy stuff from them which has a rebate. Tons of failures.

Thanks so much for this well written solution. Win10 did an automatic update last night and I started having the 100% CPU issue today. Solution works perfect with latest BI (4.6.5.2). My system has an Intel 530 based video instead of the 650 mentioned in OP, but fix is still valid.

As expected, I liked the UI appearance, but am having issues with the video quality. The UI3 video is really compressed and blocky, especially when I move a PTZ or select a different camera. Once it becomes a more static image, the quality improves close to that of UI2. I am running on a bit...

As bp200 says, don't forward your camera ports. Since you indicated you'll be using BI, you can use it to more safely access your system for live and recorded viewing. And you should add the improved BI remote pages that bp2000 created (links in his posts).

Yeah, use that one too and works well...except when you forget about Windows Firewall and it blocks the NTP ports, doh!!!
