    Since the FCC looks like it is ready to ban Hikvision and others, are there any exploits that people are aware of that have happened to Hikvision NVR etc. I'm still leary everytime I give localservicecontrol.exe permission to run. Are there better/safer easy alternatives? Cheers,

    Awesome thread sir, thank you... Perhaps know what firmware to use for DS-2DE2202I-DE3/W20160220CCCH575946125 I went through the above fix and installed a multi language firmware 5.3.9 and getting language mismatch error again :)

    Will export both... didn't think of doing that! I think I had problem with update in past and had to recover the device, it has been some time... Hopefully Hikvision has changed this? Any idea what happens to cause failure between firmware revision updates?

    Yes, according to the config screen of the NVR... I'll try update via web GUI and see what happens. Can always deprecate via tftp route? Do I need to unhook cams for update, and will we lose configuration settings from update? Thank you,,

Do we need to use the tftp method to update from a 2.x.x version to 3.x.x version firmware as I think you stated in another post from 2015, this is why I have been on old firmware for awhile... the site you linked does not show my current firmware v2.3.11 build 150625 so perhaps...

    Thank you Penhead. Thought I would share that as I read that the newer firmware would lock out downgrades, though for whatever reason if you brick your older NVR like myself you have pretty smooth avenue back... little letdown as I was kinda psyched about getting out my serial cable though :)...

    Was able to use HIKTOOK.exe and tftp server to dial back the firmware.... Hopefully find a tried and true upgrade path here for this older unit... :)
