    Nothing intelligent :). I have a cable tester that has a similar looking display and has worked flawlessly for me. Does your's have a "wiremap" box that p[ugs on the far end of the cable? I've never used my tester without that in place.

It does have one major gotcha in that after you initialize a camera you have to change the ConfigTool password...

    My bigger problem is not being willing to get rid of them. I'll probably never use the old brace and bits again, but shudder at the thought of parting with them. For cheap junk tools that break, trash or metal recycling is just fine with me.

    As an alternative , if the short is in the orange or green pair, you could swap the bad pair with brown or blue. Adding for due diligence, the camera has to be unplugged when using the cable tester.
