is tailscale safter than a VPN?

I use it. I just upgraded my firewall appliance this weekend. I'm running Opnsense on a mini PC. Tailscale was quicker and way easier to setup than OpenVPN (which I had been using for years on another router). I was up and running in about 30min. I may go back to OpenVPN at some point but so far...

    NGROK Questions

Sounds like I'll just stick with Open VPN for now. I was hoping to figure out something different because some places (hotels etc,) block Open VPN connections on their networks.

    NGROK Questions

I see a lot of updates pertaining to NGROK on Blue Iris. What is NGROK for Blue Iris? What is the benefits vs something like open vpn etc. Is there an updated setup guide? I know absolutely nothing. But I do like to access my Blue Iris remotely when I'm away.

Am I doing this right? (Continuous Recording)

My CPU usage went down actually. I was running 12-18% CPU and now I run 2-3%. It will jump up if I have a bunch of triggered cams but it never goes above 25%. I run 22 cams on an I-5 w/ 32 gig ram and 12tb hd

    New Install Camera Identification conundrum

That's why I have my cameras on static IPs. I have a set range for my cameras so I know where to start looking. For example 192.168.0.0xx and my Blue Iris Server sits at a static IP as well. Everything else in the house with the exception of my printer is DHCP. It just makes things way...

Am I doing this right? (Continuous Recording)

OK, I decided to go continuous after getting frustrated with recordings being stopped or missing this with motion detection. I've got a decent size Blue Iris system with 21 Cams all 4mp and above except for 2 of them. All are set to continuous sub + trigger. I do use sub streams and capture...

    Dahua Door Bell

My camera arrived. Now, bear in mind, mine is the wired POE version. It works great with my 20 cam (now 21 cam) Blue Iris setup. The image is great and the phone app seems to work well too. It comes with a detached doorbell wall wart that works off bluetooth. It synced up w/o any effort. I...

    Questions About Continuous Recording

OK! My 20 camera system would trash it if I continuously recorded all 20 cams LOL So when I switch to continuous which mode should I choose? Continuous, Continuous + triggered, Continuous + alerts? I also use deep stack btw.

    Questions About Continuous Recording

I have a Blue Iris system running on a Dell PC. I currently have 500gb internal SSD and a 4tb SATA HD. I have 20 cameras (primarily 4 and 5 mb Dahua). I'm using motion triggers to capture events. But I would like to go continuous. I realize I have a pretty large pool of cameras. I looked at...

Windows Home 11Blue Screen After Update

I'm a long time Blue Iris user. I've never had any real issues with running or using the program. But here in the last year I've run into a real PITA occurrence. It's not the fault of Blue Iris, but the end result makes Blue Iris unreliable. Randomly my machine will go into a "blue screen"...

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

I believe you're exactly right. My camera would go offline and still give me notifications. See my earlier post. I put my camera online and deleted it from the app. The camera has been online with Blue Iris for about 4days.

Sweet! LTS is releasing an ONVIF compatible doorbell with SD card slot and 940nm IR

Oddly I have the NSC-DB1 running for 4 days now. Moved a WiFi extender within 8ft of the doorbell. I put doorbell cam online. Registered it through the app. Then promptly deleted the camera from the App. The camera has been very stable thus far (going on 4 days). I even turned the wifi...

Blue Iris 20 camera setup continuous record

Hey, I've been running a 15 camera BI setup going on 2 yrs w/o issues. I have expanded my system to 20 cameras. They are all Dahua 4mp cameras (HDW4433C-A) and one Hikvision 4mp all at 10fps. My CPU usage is running OK with 15 cameras and BI doing the motion detection. But my needs for more...

    Motion Sensors

Unless you have a really large or odd shaped room, there is no need for over lapping coverage. Mine picks me up instantly coming out of our bedroom. The sensor is mounted on the wall in my family room that's 14x27 and inline with the hallway (by design). It has no problem looking across the...

Increase Storage in the future with BI- how to do it?

I just added another disk had have the files move there after 30 days. They go to a folder on the new drive (3gig) and sit there for 6months or until space is needed. Leave the DB on the install drive.

    Failed to Modify Ip

    Failed to Modify Ip

I have 2, fresh from China, Dahua DH-IPC-HDW4421C cameras. I find them in the Dahua config tool w/o issue. But I can not modify their IP address. They show up in the tool as 192.168.1.108. I try to change them to my network (10.0.0.x) and all I get is "failed to modify ip". I ordered 2 of...

Is there any difference between the two cameras? (IPC-HDW4421C and IPC-HDW4421S)? Other than the visual difference in the IR and lens arrangement. I've looked at the spec sheets and they look identical. But there is a significant price difference between the 2 on Ebay and Aliexpress. What am...

    Portable Monitor with BI?

I wouldn't over complicate things. Just go to a yard sale, on eBay or craigslist and get you a cheap 15in flat screen monitor. You could prob find one for 20 bucks. They're not heavy. And other than the cables dangling they are quite portable.

Best way to view cameras on a remotely connected TV

I use a wireless HDMI transmitter on my TV. IR blaster to change the tv HDMI input. I use it to take the tv signal from a bedroom tv to a TV in my detached workshop. I guess don't see why you couldn't use it on a PC to do the same.
