    IP mismatch

Ah, I thought I'd seen my same IP numbers in other's posts. When it comes to online privacy and security, I'll always error on the side of caution. IP cameras seem to operate like having to rewire your house, if you buy a different brand light bulb; or rejet your carburetor if you buy a...

    IP mismatch

For some reason, my *'s representing numbers, are being taken out, and bold letters are put it. So much for AI. Fixing what's not broken.

    IP mismatch

My router, recorder, and 2 current IP cameras all use an IP of ..0.* A third camera I'm trying to install has a default IP of *..1., the first 2 values match, 4th is different for all. The recorder can't find it, and I can't access it via browser, even though it has HTTP protocol, whether I...

Single run and POE switch or individual runs?

Is this why I started with 6 cameras, and am currently contemplating the 16th? Not exactly a reply to the original question, but reaffirming this comment. Allow for expansion!

What do you think about having cameras INSIDE your home?

Personal preference. Ours is, no inside cameras. Every access point into every building is covered from the outside. While most people wouldn't be interested in watching a 60+ year old couple walking around naked, doesn't mean it has to be recorded. Besides, the greatest danger inside...

    Cameras disappear from recorder

Originally yes, until I read here what CCA really means, Crappy Cable A**hole. Now everything is upgraded to real copper. What finally made it come on was fiddling with the ports in the camera, as I mentioned above. The camera showed up on the recorder then, but I couldn't access it via a...

    Soffit Mount Alternatives

I used 3/4" mounted on the facia trim. The little bit showing doesn't bother me, if you didn't know it was there, odds are you'd never notice. You could always taper the end down, notch it at the end.

    Cameras disappear from recorder

I tried everything, eventually changing the ports in the camera. Even though ports matched in recorder and camera before, somehow changing them must have made the camera appear. Only then I was locked out of the camera via the browser. Tech support from the camera seller told me how to...

    Cameras disappear from recorder

This hybrid is 16 analog, 4 network capable. Disabling analog channels increases network capabilities. For 3 months, I've had nothing but trouble with network cameras, while analog just keeps marching on. I'm about ready to switch back to all analog, except I've spent the years budget already.

    Cameras disappear from recorder

The only way for me to get a picture is by taking a picture of the tv screen, which is lousy at best. The analog cameras I started with continue to work flawlessly.

    Cameras disappear from recorder

It's a Camius Trivault 2168R The recorder isn't going to capture video it's not seeing in the first place, so no it's not recording. If I type in the recorder IP, the recorder shows up, but no camera. If I type in the camera IP, the camera comes up and does show an image. The recorder did...

    Cameras disappear from recorder

When I install a network camera, search, and add them to the recorder, sometimes no image appears, sometimes an image is there for a couple minutes, up to a couple of weeks, then disappears. IP addresses match, as do subnet mask, port, protocol, etc. All I get is a message, "Failed to...

    Just another newbie

I feel as if I should apologize. While I tried to emphasize technology isn't my thing, it hates me, it never works, etc. What I really need is simple. Even the you tube videos, supposedly for beginners, is over my head for the most part. It takes repeated watches of different videos to...

I have never bought a used anything that didn't wind up costing me more in the long in the run than buying new. That's how my luck runs. Your luck may differ. Yup, I'll stick with words, others will use random letters, and continue to be misunderstood by many. That's their prerogative...

After several years, I've never found a need to make any changes I can't already make. Blue Iris runs on windows, which means I not only have to pay for it, I have to buy a windows based computer, maintain and power it. Sounds like a lot of expense for something that I've historically had no...

Thanks, but I'll stick mainly to words. I know of several abbreviations, the exact same letters, with totally different meanings, which merely leads to confusion.

Same. I've had cameras for years. Only came here when I stubbed my toe, but, eventually figured it out via youtube videos and tech support. I'm sure they are tired of me. ;) What's YMMV?

Question: From what I've been able to grasp, doesn't Blue Iris run on a computer? Or phone? Or could it replace the program that came with the Camius recorder? The only way I can access the cameras is via the recorder, watched on the tv.

Yes, but, there is SO much I don't understand. It's like a person who rides a bicycle, doesn't necessarily know how to ride a motorcycle. A person who can drive car, doesn't necessarily know how to drive a semi. While I have driven all those things, when it comes to technology, I'm still on...

Laptop with Linux Mint, which doesn't have an ethernet port, hence, why I have to have wifi. The only things that use the wifi are my laptop, an iPad, and a wireless printer. Everything else is hardwired. I've found hard wiring is easier to connect, more reliable, and faster, so it's my...

    Ethernet in PVC conduit

Sounds like a fantastic house to me! That said, I've put all my cabling in conduit from the get go, for the simple reason of it's a cheap way to make the cables much more secure from tampering. What I'd add is, if you're deciding between two sizes of conduit, get one size up from the larger...

Thank you for the welcomes. Wellll..... I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but I don't see Blue Iris in my future. For one thing, I've read and looked, but I fail to see how I could use it. I've also read about security recommendations. I have my own type of secure system. All...
