Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

Here's what I'll hopefully be working with when on overview. This picture has been cropped to reflect the angle of view based on IPVM. It's at a slight angle with cars going ~15mph on the street. I'm more interested in tracking people walking at night though, since our thief has been on...

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

Yep, it's either between this or the recessed PTZ nayr has. I want to see some autotracking and night footage at 150' away before I make a determination though. If I go recessed I'll of course need to add some external IR, but I'm not sure that's as good as having a more focused IR based on...

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

Would anybody be willing to do me a favor? I'm seriously looking at this PTZ or the recessed one but can't decide if having built in IR vs external will be worth it. I'm curious about a few things, and wondering if somebody might be able to post some samples showing: 1) Video and tracking...

Ordering from Overseas (Requesting Feedback and Ordering Experience, Thanks!)

Personally, I'd argue having @EMPIRETECANDY and @nayr makes this forum a win-win for everybody. Well, perhaps we're milking nayr a little too much, but that dude is an immense resource In a forum like this.

Ordering from Overseas (Requesting Feedback and Ordering Experience, Thanks!)

I hear ya, it was my first time ordering something from Aliexpress too. I've only bought a few things from overseas before, mainly Yongnuo flashes, DSLR camera stuff from Ebay. I used PayPal since I had some credit there, and @EMPIRETECANDY was awesome. I bought my turret when it was in stock...

Thanks man, that link was incredibly helpful. It should be stickied at the top of the Dahua forum IMO

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

@nayr @EMPIRETECANDY do either of you know the focal length when the aperture changes? For example, at 4.8mm it's obviously going to be f/1.6 letting in a ton of light. Is it f/1.6 from 4.8mm-20mm? 50mm? Is there a standard progression these Starlight cameras share? This one would be going...

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Oh man, I've thought of every possible thing I could do as a booby trap. They're an awful lot of fun to play out in my head. My favorite would be leaving the pet door off and putting a bear trap on the other side.

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Can you please explain how I'm to ID somebody wearing a mask, gloves, hoodie? FWIW I'm able to ID his jacket, shoes, and pants. I'm also not able to put a camera aiming at the door and also my truck, and the option of having 2 cameras in that location is unfeasible. If you couldn't ID this...

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

We do, that's the problem. He hasn't been back in our neighborhood since April after seeing my camera and flipping it the bird. If I thought I could do a stake out and bust him I'd do it in a heartbeat. The problem is I'm certain I know who it is, but everything is circumstantial with no hard...

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Yeah it's in about a 2 mile radius of our neighborhood. Problem is that it's about every 3 weeks or so and our town only has 2 officers assigned to it during the night. The guy I have on video has stolen at least 7 guns and lots of other things. I could go on and on about him, but nothing...

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Here's where I'm getting at.....2 nights ago we had this late 90's 4 door Saturn come into our neighborhood and break into a bunch of cars. I've been hit 4 times, ranging from my first stupid mistake of leaving my truck unlocked to having my kid's scooter being stolen out of the driveway...

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Please forgive my ignorance here on the intelligent PTZ's. Obviously from your videos it does a great job tracking. I'm curious about setting up the rules for tracking though. For example, I want it to basically be an overview cam except for 2 cases, when someone starts coming up my driveway...

What models have the ULTRA Starlight available?

It doesn't interest me as much as the little brother for $195, which is certainly cheap enough for me to pull the trigger on. If you remember where I put the 5231 from my videos I still feel like I need some more reach. This bullet will fit the bill nicely. I really didn't want to get a PTZ...

Dahua Ultra Starlight Varifocal Bullet (IPC-HFW8232E-Z)

Who really cares what everybody thinks about an HOA? The only thing I care about on here is what Nayr says about the latest cameras he's testing. He already sold me on a 5231, now he's wearing me down with this 8232....

Also, it helps to increase contrast as well when doing HDR to avoid a totally flat image. Experiment and see what works best for your situation as there is no hard and fast rule

Which 4MM 2MP+ with great IR performance?

nayr is right, if you don't believe him just check out the pics/video tests I did last night with that camera. They're located in the 5231 thread here

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

It's actually 102', but the nearly 20' drop in elevation makes it shorter. If this were golf I'd play it about 12' closer. :)

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Thanks yeah I love central NC. Perfect terrain and not too far to mountains or beach. My house sits 10' higher than the street, and the camera is under an eve 9' up. So, in total the camera is 19' above the street level at the base of the light post. The post is 100' from the camera and the...

Forgot to ask, do you want cars or people?
  29. D

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Sure thing. I'm planning on changing locations for this though b/c the angle is way too sharp to have much time to capture a car. I'm planning on having it shoot up the street more to give myself some more leeway with footage. I'll have to sacrifice distance but I think it'll be a good trade off.
