    I got lucky - and need to get lucky - here's why . . .

Good, good, good stuff. Between me, myself, and I, I should be able to pick one to stay inside and 1 to go out side and walk around. If not, then i'll resort to someone else, somebody else, or even ask a strange favor of a stranger, for the outside job, that is. I know my posts may get...

    I got lucky - and need to get lucky - here's why . . .

Justified preface. NO I DO NOT WANT to do with SimpliSafe, Reolink, etc, etc. I enjoy tweaking and I believe since starting this project that Blue Iris, this forum, and quality cameras will not make my learning such a battle. I enjoy making the right choices. That is why I had to really evaluate...

    I got lucky - and need to get lucky - here's why . . .

Wow. This will take some brain work. Ouch. I thought I could just push a button, a little man would pop out with a new green hat, go to work, and when done trot on back to Ireland. I have no idea why I think everything in this world should be easy. I guess its part of my paralysis through...

    IVS Surveillance HDD's

Oke Doke, got it. Thanks. Here's the article I was talking about. Article -AND- Section 2.2 states here where I got the SMR data for the purple 4TB I guess what I'm doing is trying to cut corners rather than becoming a Wiki on most stuff. Just want to get up and running. Got all my cameras...

    IVS Surveillance HDD's

No reluctance; just not understanding the full gamut and jumped at a terminology I knew little about but thought it was pertinent somehow. So now I have to study CMR. However, I did read an article that said something about SMR being inefficient in the way it operates. But, don't ask me what...

    IVS Surveillance HDD's

My reasoning was to not inject new component discussion in a camera based thread. The only mistake was forgetting to go back and delete the one in the camera thread. My apologies to the forum. Unintentional and totally my bad. MarvinK

    IVS Surveillance HDD's

In researching the Western Digital (which I am partial to WD) 4TB 256 cache I noticed it utilizes SMR technology vs IVS. That, I don't like. Is there another brand you might suggest looney2ns or anyone else? I realize WD was not suggested but I used that terminology in my question anyway. MarvinK

Nope Nope and Nope. Too much going through my head. Ouuuuuuch it hurts . . . My head that is. The 2tb does have 256 cache. Western Digital 2TB WD Purple Surveillance Internal Hard Drive HDD - SATA 6 Gb/s, 256 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD22PURZ 2 each. Amcrest 5MP Turret POE Camera, UltraHD Outdoor...

Hi there, me again. I'm ordering my camera's today. I am going over budget for sure, but must do so to to keep in line and on the same pages with IPCAMTALK and participants. One thing I am not too well versed on is HDD and cache for finishing up the BI server Friday. On Amazon there are two...

Yes I have 2 Samsung Pro Endurance 128GB MicroSDXC / UHS-1 / U3 / V30 but have never used them yet. Sometimes wondering if 128GB is enough for this purpose. (hint hint :idk: ) Hey looney2ns (clever) I just read your tag lines at the bottom of your posts. Great tip(s). I just went to Wiki and...

Looks like I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the EmpireTec IPC-T5442T-ZE Black. Question - When using Blue Iris 5 with that camera is it necessary to also load a mini SDCard into the camera?

Also, what do you think about Blue Iris Cloud based storage. Can it be as thorough and benficial function and feature wise as a Blue Iris Server which I am now building and may stop regarding your answers. Is the cloud safe and secure? I've always been kinda leery of anything cloud based but...

    I got lucky - and need to get lucky - here's why . . .

Hi thread helpers. I'm still absorbing all the data and input give previous to this post above. I am getting closer to, but, still on the fence about the Empire Tec IPC-T5442T-2E black. That said, I was surfing on AMAZON this morning finding all the Dahua cameras and briefly looking at them. I...

    Camera placement and vendor/model suggestions

I wanted to reply to your post the other day but things got moving so fast I forgot. There's no question that the forum has pointed out my incorrect beginnings by expecting 2 cameras to supply me with a lot of information. If I understand you correctly you have four cameras on the front of your...

Okay folks, so here's my issue. Yes, I know its for me to solve but would kinda appreciate some input. H1 shows a portion of the front of my house. On the left end of the garage is one of my Reolinks. On the right of the picture you can see a portion of a window. Further to the right is a...

wittaj - I want to talk to Andy but can't find a phone number. Anyway, Is there a way to personal message you? I just want to ask a few simple questions about the first camera you suggested to me. It's growing on me LOL. If not, no problem, I'll just do more on this thread so others can see it...

wittaj - I looked at the camera on Amazon and the pictures from some of the reviewers. How on freakin' earth does that camera produce such excellent 4mp pictures? I was stunned!!!! Thanks for the tip.
