    Possible DJI Drone Ban?

LOL, considering that most of us have cameras that see clearly into neighbors' yards and windows and cars etc...y'all seem oddly anti-drone. What's up with that?

    Possible DJI Drone Ban?

Figured this forum may have some input on the pending legislation to supposedly ban DJI drones in the US. I say supposedly because that's the language that's being used on the forums and social media, but is it really a ban? Is this similar to what happened with Dahua, Hik, etc? H.R. 2864 is the...

Scaring racoons off the boat dock

Couple racoons were on my boat dock tonight. Turned on the lights remotely to scare them off, but they weren't bothered at all. So then I turned on an electric water pump and that did the trick. One ran for it and the other took a swim.

Awesome, found it and it now goes to -5°. Thank you!

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

The specs for this camera advertise a tilt range of -5° to +90° but it seems to actually be 0° to 90°. Am I the only one not getting the -5°?

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Unfortunately, I think you've nailed it. This morning I tried a new ethernet cable and even a different switch and get the exact same issues - no change whatsoever. If the water is smooth, I see minimal issues (especially after changing the iframe interval to 4* frame rate - at least with that...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Did a ping -n 1000 and here are the results: Packets: Sent = 1000, Received = 1000, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 2ms, Maximum = 19ms, Average = 5ms It's on a gigabit switch, but I don't know if it shows what speed the ports are working...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Interesting. Mine is different. When I do a manual check, it says I am using the latest version. System Version:2.821.0000006.1.RBuild Date:2023-03-16 PTZ Version:V2.401.0000001.47.RHNDG_220906_42754 No variation of compression, frame rate, or bitrate has made any real difference, unfortunately.

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Reterminating the cable was next on my list, just way too cold outside to mess with it right now. Maybe by mid next week. I've pinged it hundreds of times over the past few days, average 7 ms never over 18 ms maximum, no packet loss. This camera is connected via a P2P wireless bridge, but I...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Well, no matter what frame rate or bitrate I run, I still get the macroblocking. It's more noticeable (like in the video in OP or even a little worse) with a "busy" image like when the lake is choppy. A calm scene with little movement results in less noticeable macroblocking. I did a factory...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

So, after more tinkering I found that I could increase the bitrate one step at a time: 10240>12288>14336 with no issues. If I try to go from 10240>14336 it cycles the camera. And no matter how I do it, if I go to 16384 it cycles. So as of right now I've got it H264, 30FPS, CBR 14336. It's stable...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Cool, I had no idea that substreams were used for anything other than saving CPU load. So I enabled substream on all the cams now except for one and here's the data. Looking through the GUI, I can't find a factory reset option. Do ya know where it is?

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

I don't generally run substreams in BI just because I don't have any performance concerns running the main stream. Is there a reason to run substreams? I turned on the substream, and attached are my numbers from BI. I have not done a factory reset on this one. Is that something to do in the GUI...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Thanks. It was H264B for some reason - I would have sworn I had it set to H264 already. I try to run 20+ FPS and I've noticed something different with this camera I've never seen on my other 10+ various Dahua cameras. If I set the bitrate above 10240, I get a lost signal error in BI and it's...

    EmpireTech PTZ425DB glitchy background?

Here's a video from my new PTZ425DB. Watch the trees far in the background and you'll see some kind of glitch that happens every second. Any idea what's causing that? Seems very grainy compared to the rest and almost like that section of the picture is at 1 FPS while the rest of the image is 20...

    UTV

Yep, states all have different laws regarding mini trucks and even counties seem to do their own thing when deciding whether to register them or not. UTVs aren't street legal where I live, so it really didn't matter whether I could get my mini truck registered or not - I wanted it to do work on...

    UTV

That's not true at all. You can buy brand new mini trucks in the US, still with the plastic wrap on them. They're imported and sold as off road use vehicles, no different from a UTV. That gets them past the federal import laws NHTSA and EPA regs. Each state has regulations on them as far as...

    UTV

No issues so far. I haven't had anything fail on my 94 Suzuki Carry but I've replaced a lot of parts just to clean it up a bit. I've been able to get exact parts from Suzuki either from Japan or US resellers. Only thing that wasn't OEM was a few coolant hoses that I couldn't find so I just went...

    UTV

I sold my Honda Pioneer UTV and got a Japanese mini truck with a dump bed. Enclosed cab, A/C and heat, street legal where the Honda UTV was not (in my state, maybe different in yours), 4WD hi/low, diff lock, and the 2WD doesn't tear up the yard like some UTVs with solid rear diffs (like my...

Bluegill eats a minnow, underwater camera

That little minnow was swimming as hard as he could and unknowingly became the easiest meal of the day for a bluegill, lol.

    Crane eats a bass

Heard a splash on my camera the other night and saw a crane had caught a big (for a crane) bass off my boat dock. After the fish died, it took the crane about 30 minutes to get it down - he tried unsuccessfully several times, but eventually got it broken up enough (I assume that's what he's...

First day with my new Dahua underwater camera

Here's the design I modified for mine. How to build a low-cost underwater camera housing for aquatic research I don't have a lathe, so I just used 4" plexi disc inside a 4" PVC pipe whereas they used a 5" disc and trimmed it down to 4.5" to fit inside a PVC fitting that went over the 4" PVC...

First day with my new Dahua underwater camera

Super easy to build. I got the plexiglass discs off Etsy for about $5 and the rest from the local hardware store. I got the general design from a research group and from their videos it looks like they use their cameras to watch traps.

First day with my new Dahua underwater camera

No pylons - it's a floating dock. Next step is to mount the camera deep and point it up to hopefully catch some of the dock floats in the frame. Probably not the best perspective for fish watching, but worth checking out for a day or two. If that's no good, I may relocate the whole thing to the...

First day with my new Dahua underwater camera

Okay, the thread title is misleading. It's just an IPC-HDW2431T in a homemade underwater housing, not a specialty underwater camera from Dahua. With ideas from this forum and a few other websites, I made an underwater housing using 4" PVC pipe, a 1/2" thick plexiglass disc, and a brass fitting...

Installing camera in waterproof box for underwater use?

So I've got a rough idea of the housing I'm going to put together to house a camera. Now to decide which camera to use. I have a 5442 and a few 2431Ts laying around. The camera will be 5-20 feet deep in water with an average of 6-10' visibility, so not murky water, but not perfectly clear...

    Upgrading underwater camera

That's exactly what I'm wanting to do. I read through the other thread, but could you explain the actual build process for the housing the camera went in? Materials, sealants, cable passthrough, etc? Thanks!

Installing camera in waterproof box for underwater use?

Anyone ever installed an IP camera in some sort of waterproof housing for continuous use underwater? I'm imagining a plexiglass box just big enough to house a 5442 or similar with a waterproof passthrough for the ethernet cable. I'd like to be able to keep the box/camera submerged just under the...

    Solar powered remote ipcamera

No, I'm not looking for a cheap solar powered camera like you find at harbor freight. I want to do a custom build, and thought y'all may have some experience. I have about 3 acres between me and my mailbox, and a hill that blocks line of sight. Straight line distance is around 1,200'. I'm...
