How to handle saturation at night due to headlights?

Well it looks like 1/120 exposure time with 50 gain is about as good as it gets for my particular application. Just thought I would share for anyone else needing to do something similar. If 1/120 is too dark also try 1/60 or adjust gain. Typically exposure time is quite a bit higher for night...

How to handle saturation at night due to headlights?

It seems the main settings to mess with are "exposure time" and gain. In my test without trying to tune anything else 1/2000 exposure with 0 gain actually did the best with the light test in that it came closest to being able to make out the details of the bright light itself and the...

How to handle saturation at night due to headlights?

It doesn't look like BLC will do it as it is too small of an area to have an effect. It only allows me to specify a general area like center, top, bottom, etc and that doesn't work well enough. If I could custom draw say a box it would probably work. Let's look at this a different way maybe...

How to handle saturation at night due to headlights?

I definitely will but ugh, I got rid of the Windows 10 laptop I had so now I'll have to figure out a way to change the settings on it again. It probably means having to use Virtualbox or something. So annoying to have to install a second OS just to change some settings on a video camera. I...

How to handle saturation at night due to headlights?

Hmm. I had not considered that. It allows me to set BLC for just a certain area so I could just set it for that area where I mainly want to see. Does it adjust fast enough though??

How to handle saturation at night due to headlights?

Hi I have a DS-2CD2432F-IW. I want to be able to see people through the windshield of cars as they approach but at night the headlights pretty much make this impossible as when the lights shine even somewhat in the direction of the camera everything is "whited out" due to the headlights...

    Reducing Daytime noise (DS-2CD2432F-IW 2.8mm)

You're probably right but it is decent enough to be used for monitoring. When subjects come closer to the house it's also good enough to see faces during the day. That isn't the case for the sidewalk but oh well. It's just a rental so mounting outside cameras unfortunately isn't possible or...

    Reducing Daytime noise (DS-2CD2432F-IW 2.8mm)

Yep I've learned a lot since making my first purchase and reading around here. At first I thought the resolution was the main thing that mattered! Now I'm seeing that, no, there is a lot more to it than that. Thankfully at least the 2.8 mm gives me a very wide field of view and I'll take that...

    Reducing Daytime noise (DS-2CD2432F-IW 2.8mm)

Hmmm. Tried I-frame interval 2 and 50. Frame rate unchanged at 10fps. No difference for me with the "pulsating pixels".

    Reducing Daytime noise (DS-2CD2432F-IW 2.8mm)

Thanks for introducing me to the term. I found this rather entertaining thread: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/6854-Hikvision-Noise-Quality-Problem-50-Reward! Which seems to probably be near what I am seeing (he deleted the video so I cannot be sure). I haven't read the whole thing...

    Reducing Daytime noise (DS-2CD2432F-IW 2.8mm)

Thanks for the response. I just turned WDR off both with Digital Noise Reduction ON at current level 25 and 100. Doing that with WDR OFF and DNR level 100 seems to help a bit but I still see a lot of "motion type noise" when zooming in 2x and even a bit at actual resolution. The best way to...

    Reducing Daytime noise (DS-2CD2432F-IW 2.8mm)

Hardware: DS-2CD2432F-IW V5.3.0 build 150513 (2.8mm lens) Hello does anyone have any tips for reducing the daytime noise I am seeing with my Hikvision camera. I have it on the highest resolution and frankly it has been a bit of a disappointment due to the noise (movement type noise where it...

    DS-2CD2432F-IW V5.3.0 build 150513 + Linux

Just for anyone else seeing this in search I since created a virtualbox guest install of Windows and everything worked fine with saving the configuration settings so the issue was almost definitely the lack of the webcomponents plugin in Linux.

    DS-2CD2432F-IW V5.3.0 build 150513 + Linux

Hello thanks for the reply. That is totally new to me and I researching now to see if it is possible. I'll see what I can figure out. I also see that it allows one to load an existing configuration from a file using the web interface so I was thinking it might also perhaps be possible to do...

    DS-2CD2432F-IW V5.3.0 build 150513 + Linux

Hi all. I just bought a DS-2CD2432F-IW which identifies with the following firmware: Firmware Version V5.3.0 build 150513 Encoding Version V5.0 build 150327 It mostly works okay for me. I am using it with zoneminder to monitor for motion and to view the live stream and that is...
