Dahua nvr5216-16p-4ks2e defaults random camera names after reboot

Didn't work for me either, except I can't even edit the overlay page. The channel title options are all greyed out.

Dahua nvr5216-16p-4ks2e defaults random camera names after reboot

I had the same issue, the camera channel names don't save for non-Dahua cameras. Unable to rename 3rd party/Onvif cameras on Dahua XVR/NVR

How much bandwidth does a particular camera use - How do I calculate it?

Well I think most modern systems made in the last few years already have h.265 encoding. In my experience, the difference between the two has always been substantial, especially with the higher resolutions where you'll see a big difference.

How much bandwidth does a particular camera use - How do I calculate it?

Is the calculator programmed for h.264 or h.265?

    SmartPSS stuttering image

Changing the video decoding in SmartPSS doesn't solve the issue. For some reason the bitrate jumps up to 15-20k then back down even though it's set at 2048 in the XVR.

The user avspin said you are “opening yourself up” by using P2P, but if you do so over OpenVPN you’re magically immune from compromise. It’s just a ridiculous assumption that by transferring your trust from one set of code to another you’re somehow enhancing your security. OpenVPN can certainly...

No need to. Maybe when you figure out what security theater is we can have a nuanced discussion. The person above you was actually on the right track.

Plenty of reasons not to use a VPN. https://openvpn.net/security-advisories/

There’s no reason to not use P2P unless you’re in government or on a corporate network. Simply changing the default credentials will deter 99% of threats. If you want to go through the headache of setting up and using a VPN for security theater that’s your decision.

Dahua NVR Multiple IP Cameras on POE Switch on POE Switchport

I don't understand your 2nd question. The NVR you listed says the LAN port is gigabit.

XVR vs NVR for IP cam only

I prefer NVR's when dealing only with IP cameras. They're designed specifically for IP cameras and usually have a higher network capability and better camera compatibility overall.

    Cat 6 in conduit/water

Cat5e is the minimum. Cat6a is the standard going forward. There’s no reason to ever use basic CAT5 today.

Unable to rename 3rd party/Onvif cameras on Dahua XVR/NVR

edit: Found a working firmware for anyone else having this problem DH_NVR4XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V3.216.0000002.0.R.190102.bin V3 to V4 is when the GUI changed.

    SmartPSS stuttering image

The problem doesn’t occur on DMSS, either over P2P or LAN, so it doesn’t appear to be network related. I will try the hardware acceleration option and report back.

Using IE with plugins installed. The camera device name reflects the changes made, the NVR does not.

Unable to rename 3rd party/Onvif cameras on Dahua XVR/NVR

This is a fairly recent issue with I've been having with Dahua that I've found no solution for. So in essence, there seems to be no way to rename the channels for 3rd party cameras (Herospeed firmware) on either XVR's or NVR's. Every time you attempt to rename the channels either through...
