Cannot issue most basic ISAPI command through curl -- please help

@trempa92 I have python3-prettytable installed in my ubuntu server now. I'm running the script now using python3. How long will this take? Also I don't see anything at the bash prompt.

Cannot issue most basic ISAPI command through curl -- please help

@trempa92 -- Thanks! This looks very promising. How do I adjust the code below that I grabbed from the post you pointed me to if I know the camera's ip address and just want to probe that? import socket import select def send_udp_broadcast(packet, port, broadcast_ip, local_ip): # Create a...

Cannot issue most basic ISAPI command through curl -- please help

@SavaricTheSpear Thank you. I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. I'm much more of a newbie at this. I ran curl --digest -v "http://username:password@192.168.20.100/ISAPI/System/deviceInfo" And it spit out: * processing...

@sweet1 Can you please share the xml files that you use? I am having trouble getting this to work.

Cannot issue most basic ISAPI command through curl -- please help

I am trying to determine the capabilities of my Anpviz camera which I believe is just a Hikvision clone. So it should have the ISAPI built into it. Hikvision's documentation on the ISAPI indicates that /ISAPI/System/deviceInfo should give me details about my camera. I have a headless server...

    Drive-by shooting!

I spent most of the evening trying to calibrate the camera to capture license plates. Here's a clip at 1/2500 shutter speed and sharpness at 1. I did not change sharpness CNT, gamma, or illuminator strength. I think I need to adjust those and also improve the focus.

@samplenhold That's my project for this evening. Stay tuned.

    Drive-by shooting!

Success! @weigle2 had a very informative post on another thread. Essentially, I changed "installed mode" to "inverted" under "General -> System" settings tab. This camera is so awesome.

    Drive-by shooting!

@wittaj In the GUI, there is "View Angle Mode" and it is set to "Auto" and there are no other options in the drop down list. I believe I can override this using the Dahua http api to change the "FlipMode" from "Auto" to something else. The problem is I don't know what that should be. I've tried...

    Drive-by shooting!

There is a "View Angle Mode" in the Conditions -> Picture settings section. But there is only one option "Auto". I don't see anything like "Flip" any where. But I will keep looking.

    Drive-by shooting!

A big thank you to everyone who's offered advice on getting my Dahua PTZ1A225-HNR-XA camera from Andy to capture license plates. If you've been following this thread, you know that there was drive-by shooting in front of my house and that I installed this camera to capture license plates. The...

Help! Contractor broke my PTZ camera!

Good news! The T568B pinout worked. For the benefit of anyone else who might be dealing with a similar issue in the future. I put a male RJ45 connector on the cable. Originally there was a female connector (which is what the contractor broke). I've order the waterproof male-to-male coupler...

Help! Contractor broke my PTZ camera!

I cut open the broken RJ45 to look at the wiring scheme. It is pretty clear that the white/orange and orange go pins 1 and 2 indicating that the camera's layout is T568B. So I'm going to put a male connector on the remaining cable and see if I can get the camera working from the POE+ switch.

Help! Contractor broke my PTZ camera!

I'm seeing conflicting info on which pinout to use on the Dahua camera. Does anyone know which is correct? Given my camera's wires, I think it must be T568A or T568B. But I also read that 802.3at cameras have to be compatible with both POE+ mode A and mode B so that it might not matter.

Help! Contractor broke my PTZ camera!

My camera has the standard eight cat5/6 wires--see photo below. Am I correct in understanding that I need to use the T568A layout because this is a Dahua camera?

Help! Contractor broke my PTZ camera!

@wittaj Thank you for these helpful links. Is there a particular female connector that you recommend I use? This cable is kind of expensive, but I could cut the male connector off--ouch--and then solder the wires to the wire coming from the cable. This would give me a new female connector on my...

Help! Contractor broke my PTZ camera!

Hello ipcamtalk friends. I need your help. If you've been following my adventure with the Dahua PTZ1A225-HNR-XA over in my "drive-by shooting" thread, you are aware that I had mounted this camera incorrectly. Well, earlier this morning, one of the contractors working on my house broke the...

police visit my property because of my cameras

I back the blue. Cops have a very tough job and need more support and appreciation from the general public. Like any profession, there are going to be some bad characters. But it is wrong to conclude that all cops are bad, just because there are some that are. Without the police, my neighborhood...

police visit my property because of my cameras

Anyone have police visit your house asking about your cameras and whether they can get a copy of the recordings? My house is in a city with a reputation for violent crime--a reputation that no longer fits. But occasionally very bad stuff happens and then the police start going to houses with...

    Drive-by shooting!

@bigredfish -- Thank you. The advice I received from you and others here at ipcamtalk has been very helpful. I think the gain was set at its default, but I don't know the default value. Here's the video clip showing the car go by. The camera is at 30 fps. Again, the weird angle is the result of...

    Drive-by shooting!

While I wait for the wall mount to be stocked, I've been experimenting with the ability to capture license plates. Here is an example of what I am able to capture using this PTZ camera. Shutter speed at 1/2500; sharpness, sharpness CNT, and gamma at 2; far light illuminator at 100. Any...

    Drive-by shooting!

Thanks @eggsan. I traded messages with @EMPIRETECANDY who says he should have some of the wall mounts later this month. Until then I'll just leave my PTZ camera up in its awkward position.
