Looking for feedback and testing of my Dahua Home Assistant integration (via HACS)

I usually start with the GUI editor especially for simpler tasks, the auto-complete helps. But then when it comes to tweaking and debugging, I do it straight in the YAML. Fortunately you can switch back and forth as needed.

Looking for feedback and testing of my Dahua Home Assistant integration (via HACS)

Yep agreed! This integration is sweet... I have my VTO in BI for 24/7 recording, as well as motion detection which sends me alerts. Then I also have it in the HA integration so I can have the feed on a dashboard page, and I have an automation that triggers on the button press - this then...

Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

So for the first point, though I haven't fully done this yet, my plan here is to use my HomeAssistant installation to pick up the door pressed event (does this now), to trigger a Shelly to close the old-school doorbell circuit. Will post back when that's done. Regarding Blue Iris - I have the...

Looking for feedback and testing of my Dahua Home Assistant integration (via HACS)

This is very cool, thanks for this!! I'm in the process of installing my VTO and stumbled on this, which is the glue I was looking for (integrate the button on the VTO with a shelly that will ring the old-school doorbell). One question - In the entities list, I have "DoorBell Button...

OMG I'm in over my head

I agree with this wholeheartedly! While the quality difference is something I considered, the fact that it's a minor difference (very slightly better for fixed) as well as slightly cheaper (again for fixed), I was already leaning towards just getting all varifocals, at least for the outside...

OMG I'm in over my head

Thanks @looney2ns. The indoor cameras, one will be facing the front door, and one facing the sliding glass doors that go out to the back. They're going to be mounted pretty much beside each other, but facing opposite ways. I don't really need to see most of the room, it's all about people...

OMG I'm in over my head

Thanks all - about to reach out to @EMPIRETECANDY and pull the trigger. I read through pages and pages of reviews, to keep it simple I'll just go with what seems to be the gold standard, Loryata (Dahua OEM) IPC-T5442T-ZE varifocal Turret. Just trying to decide if I should start with 1 or 4...

OMG I'm in over my head

Excellent, thank you both @Holbs and @sebastiontombs, appreciate it! I don't think I care about audio, and I'm up for saving a few bucks, the cabling, alarm system, irrigation, thermostats, light switches are all adding up... What about those "double camera" models I've seen? Are they worth...

OMG I'm in over my head

Ok so I'm trying to design a good surveillance system, for the new house we moved into (new to us, it was built in the late 80's). I've had a bunch of ethernet runs done (back home in Canada I would've done this myself but basements aren't a thing here in Central Florida so spent a bunch of $$...
