Will a HP Z230 Workstation Intel i7-4770 suffice?

I intend to use a Scythe Big Shuriken 3 for the CPU and pack everything in a Thermaltake Core V21.

Will a HP Z230 Workstation Intel i7-4770 suffice?

I have decided to put together a new, budget friendly system by myself. In the end the difference was only about 90 euro's because I have a used 250Gb SSD on the shelf. This is what it would look like: Asrock B365M Pro4 (Micro ATX) Intel Core i7-9700 3GHz Kingston HyperX DDR4, 16GB, 2666 Mhz...

Will a HP Z230 Workstation Intel i7-4770 suffice?

Thanx for the feedback @mat200 and @SouthernYankee. I will let the HP Z230 pass me by and take your advice into account while looking further.

Will a HP Z230 Workstation Intel i7-4770 suffice?

While still struggling with a VM test setup, I am also searching for an affordable dedicated PC. My current intention is to hook up about 8 camera's eventually. I yet have to figure out which ones though. Also, since forum members have warned me one might get addicted, those 8 initial camera's...

Can not remotely access Blue Iris running in a VM

Thanx for pitching in @IAmATeaf I am not sure what you mean here. The FRITZ!Box is the router. It can be pinged from within the BI VM client It can not be pinged from the laptop host, because that's on a completely separate network. It can not be pinged from the outside either because it is...

Can not remotely access Blue Iris running in a VM

Not a clue. My knowledge and experience ends here. As far as I know, that's what the "Port Sharing" is for. I agree. If I only knew what they are. I simply don't know what's wrong with the setup.

Can not remotely access Blue Iris running in a VM

I guess my diagram was not sufficiently clear. Each of the routers address a different subnet. If you look at the laptop host and VMware client, you can see that. I don't quite understand. I have two routers, configured for different WAN IP addresses, each addressing a different subnet. The...

Can not remotely access Blue Iris running in a VM

Thanx for the response @jmhmcse. I'm quite sure you are right and the problem is not BI. If it was, I would not be able to conenct to from my laptop, the VM host, either. I do know a bit about networking principles, but am hardly an expert. There's a lot I often struggle with. But I'm familiar...

Can not remotely access Blue Iris running in a VM

I am in the process of setting up my first ever surveillance camera. On the advice of @Sphinxicus, backed by several other helpful forum members, I decided to start with one camera, an IPC-T5442T-ZE to be exact, to get acquainted and test, play and experiment. This should help with the selection...

IPC-T5442T-ZE how do I change the ONVIF admin password?

@EMPIRETECANDY I did as you suggested. First a hard reset. I then first tried the ODM (Onvif Device Manager) but it could not find the camera yet. So I ran the default setup procedure using the Web GUI, which asks me for a admin password. After ths setup I tried the ODM again, using the default...

Maybe @EMPIRETECANDY can shed some light on this?

IPC-T5442T-ZE how do I change the ONVIF admin password?

After some other struggles, having to hardware reset my IPC-T5442T-ZE, I now face a new challenge: change the ONVIF admin password. I tried every possiibility I could think of, but the Web GUI won't let me change it. I did manage to change the regular admin user password. I also managed to add a...

    IPC-T5442T-ZE how to hardware reset?

That was not as hard as I thought. The IPC-T5442T-ZE has a small cover on the ball, with two screws on each side and the text "RESET" I opened it, pushed the reset button for about 30 seconds and was able to perform the setup procedure all over again.

    IPC-T5442T-ZE how to hardware reset?

Yesterday I received my first surveillance camera ever, a IPC-T5442T-ZE. Today I tried to set it up, following the setup instructions in the Cliff Notes. Unfortunately, after having changed the admin password, I can not login anymore. I use a password manager and am pretty sure I entered and...

No clue about security camera's and what have you

Didn't realize that. I considered motion activated, because the area's I'm thinking of only need light at night if trespassers are detected. It feels like a waste of energy, no matter how little. Also, the idea that my house looks like a windows display all night, does not appeal to me. I'll...

No clue about security camera's and what have you

I have had good experience with Netgear in the past as well. I will start with a Netgear GS308PP. @samplenhold Thanx for pitching in. Planning is on its way. As soon as the camera is in, we will start testing and experimenting. As you can see I'm from the Netherlands. In my opening post, I...

No clue about security camera's and what have you

@Old Timer Lot's of useful suggestions. Thanx. I took the bull by the horns and ordered a IPC-T5442T-ZE from @EMPIRETECANDY. Like all of you suggest, I will use it to determine what I want & need. I don't think I will ever need more than about 8 camera's, but I will not let the storage system...

No clue about security camera's and what have you

Being a software developer, I have a computer background fortunately. Although I don't like system administration and always get stressed out when a computer fails, I do have some experience. So as far as the software is concerned, I'm confident to get the hang of it quite fast. All the other...

So at the end of the day, it's all about a "set it and forget it" VMS, I guess :D

No clue about security camera's and what have you

Thanx @sebastiantombs. And thanx @Old Timer. I very much lean towards the "set it and forget it" approach. One of the reasons I considered the UniFi combo.

No clue about security camera's and what have you

The reason is two fold: I have enough computers running as it is and I'm not much of a system administrator (understatement). A dedicated PC means another investment.

No clue about security camera's and what have you

I appreciate your advice about testing first with a descent varifocal camera. And indeed, the IPC-T5442T-ZE has quite friendly reviews. Even on a respected Dutch forum. Unfortunately I can not find it anywhere in a Dutch web shop, which I very much prefer. I see it offered in EmpireTech-Andy's...

Thank you very much for your swift and elaborate response. I will definitely take your advice to heart. But if I understand you correctly, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are not very realistic if I want to make a well founded decision :)

Hi, New here and no clue about security camera's and what have you. So please be gentle. Like so many on this forum, I could use some objective advice and help with selection of a set of cameras and accompanying software. At first glance this forum seems to have a lot of...
