    Cams offline.

I think you’re absolutely correct. I’m here now troubleshooting and I’ve done precisely what you said and a few cams came back up. The one connected directly to the NVR is actually the one I’m currently struggling with.

    Cams offline.

Question guys and I’m sure this has been answered here a dozen times already ad nauseam. However, my question is, or better yet my problem is, I installed 15 cameras on an apartment complex two years ago. And what’s happening is 3 cameras go offline. I have multiple switches and wireless bridges...

    Port issue???

I’m thinking you’re absolutely correct. When I was out there getting the NVR connected to the new Cox modem, there was no internet connection. There’s definitely some intermittent connectivity problems.

    Port issue???

Just checked and now the cameras are on the cell phone. I’m convinced that there’s something intermittent with this particular router.
  5. L

    Port issue???

Yes, P2P and the DMSS app. Again, with the previous router/ISP this issue wasn’t present.
  6. L

    Port issue???

Yes, NVR is directly plugged into newly installed gateway via Ethernet cable. The NVR was recently provided and installed by me. The previous ISP/router didn’t have this issue.

    Port issue???

Good morning. I was wondering if anyone has an answer to this issue I’m facing. I installed some IP cams at an apartment complex. Owner lives in California but property is in Phoenix Arizona. Everything was working fine he was able to see the cameras on his phone without issue. They recently...

    SDD

Yeah, I’ve educated him on why he’ll be just fine with a normal HDD and he’s essentially ignoring all of that and he’s still insisting on the SSD over the HDD. It’s strange. He doesn’t even really seem to have any reputable knowledge, he just knows SSDs are a “newer” technology and THATS what he...

Thanks a lot. Yeah, I explained everything you’ve mentioned to him and he’s just so adamant

    SDD

Good morning/Afternoon guys. I have a question: I have a customer that I’ll be installing a Dahua NVR with a few Dahua IP cameras for. However, he is adamant on having an SSD instead of the HDD. Is there a suitable SDD (3 terabyte) for a Dahua NVR? Everything I search online the SDD either looks...

    Stupid question

That’s my concern as well. I don’t want to add a complicated software to their system and they call me two days later because they can’t remember the instructions. I wish there was a more similar solution.

It It’s an NVR. A cheap one too. LOREX.

    Stupid question

I have a stupid, possibly rudimentary question: I have a client that has a surveillance sytem at a dance studio, I think a total of 8 cameras. He wants to split the cameras on two different monitors/TVs. Simple, just use a good quality HDMI splitter. However, it’s not that simple, he wants to be...

    Stupid question

So, update on yesterday’s installation. I was overthinking the entire installation for one, moreover, I was able to re-route the four existing lines as the customer ended up wanting the NVR in the kitchen over the top cabinet as posted in above photo. I had him purchase a wireless mouse and I...

    Stupid question

What I’m also considering is using this switch all together: there are two uplinks on this POE switch; can I run a CAT6 from the lan on the NVR on one and a line from the router to the second and run the other four remaining lines to the on-q and connect all cams to this POE switch?
  20. L

    Stupid question

So, if I’m understanding correctly, you’re suggesting I get a line from the gateway to the POE switch, but also, from the LAN port on the NVR to the Poe switch as well? will I still be able to connect 4 cams to the NVR as well as four to the switch and still get everything working properly?

    Stupid question

So this was the best image I could find online to depict what I’m trying to pull off. I’m planning to run four new lines to the NVR in the master which is where the gateway is. Then I was going to connect the NVR to the gateway via the LAN port and from another open port on the gateway I was...

    Stupid question

Yeah, it’s an 8 port Poe NVR. I may have to change my installation design. I guess I can go from router to NVR then router to POE switch in panel? I’d still have to run a few lines, but not re-route 4 lines. Eh, I think I’ll come up with something. I’ll post tomorrow

    Stupid question

I have a rudimentary question: I’m installing an 8 channel Dahua NVR with 8 IP cameras. 4 of them are the TIOC/active deterrent cams and the other 4 are just some 5MP turrets with built in mic. My customer’s home was pre-wired with CAT6 with four pre-wires for surveillance cams. Those lines run...

    Newbie question

Nice!! That’s what I’m considering doing: adding a netgear extender and plugging the NVR directly in the extender.

    Dumb newbie question.

you’re absolutely right. I’ll just bite the bullet in this situation and run the damn line. Lol. thanks man, I really appreciate your advice.

    Dumb newbie question.

I’m talking about a WiFi range extender that has Ethernet ports. But I’ve heard those are hit or miss. The home is 4000 sq feet. The ISP gateway is in an add-on portion of the house; like an office area on the first floor. The NVR is going in the kitchen. However, I’ll be fishing the lines for...

    Newbie question

So, I’m new to this forum and relatively new to the IT side of CCTV. I’ll make the question as succinct as I possibly can. I’m installing a system for a client of mine and his Router is in a location that makes it nearly impossible to hardwire his NVR . Is there a work-around for this? What have...
