    CPU suggestion?

This reminded me to report back! I got most everything up and running on a HP Z2 G5 SFF Workstation Core i7-10700 2.9GHz 32GB RAM following the tutorial i linked in the original post. Miraculously, despite it being well below the specs for 17 4k cameras it seems to handle all of them and the...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

OH!!! that might be it! 3 years ago I was using a mac. maybe the Microsoft rdp for mac isn't affected by it. I'm gonna go with that cause it's making me feel crazy if it was stuttering before and I just don't remember

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

knowledge is always in the last place you look:) THANK you. Unfortunately for me I've NEVER had a monitor attached so it's somewhat unnerving I never noticed the issue before. Oh well, onward and upward. Thanks all

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

yup, my bad. if you look at my original post, it was anything but light on details. Just an oversight on my part. I DID mention that the stutter seemed to be a 4 second delay, which now seems like a chechov's gun:)

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Yes, I'm sorry, it never occurred to me that the target PC would even be aware it was being remotely accessed. I'm still a little fuzzy on why 5-sec is the default, but happy to be back on track. At least i learned a lot on the way:)

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

That option was set to 5-second update, which is def what i was experiencing. I changed it to unrestricted and it seems to have solved my issue. Either I remembered wrong and it never worked or the option reset when I updated Blue Iris. I'm guessing good money is on the former. So what is the...

I will report back with the status of that option when I can access my configuration.

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

I am but I ALWAYS was. My Blue Iris PC doesn't even have a monitor. To be clear, and this is a topic i haven't gotten to in the help file so apologies if i'm not talking about this right, I am RDPing into the windows machine that is locally running blue iris, not remotely connecting to a blue...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Well....1) no section was actually advised, I was told to "think about what search terms I'd need", 2) because another suggestion was to simply "spend an afternoon with the help file" which really didn't seem like a terrible idea 3) because my phone had an incident at the pool yesterday so I...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

i'm about 20% of the way through the Help file, and I'm curious, does the wisdom of the crowd think it would probably be best for me to just reset my Blue Iris instance to factory default? I'm strongly leaning this way...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Thanks for checking. I was actually curious about that and hadn't thought to ping TO the cameras yet (did a bunch of testing of the BI PC when setting up the VLAN. glad they are alright. I also agree that the time stamps are most likely ok (they looked ok). Currently reading the the readme...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Sure. Seems fine pinging from the Blue Iris PC to the cameras but maybe i'm doing it wrong or missing something? Interesting suggestion. I actually removed that overlay cause I was worried it would slow down the stream. I can re-enable it and see if it syncs up with the times. thanks for the...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

That's wonderful to hear! Which page? what search term? I'm not trying to be flippant but more specificity stops me asking dumb questions, faster. Absolutely, I will do it tomorrow. Genuinely can't thank everyone enough for their help!

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

crap ok, so what do I do now to reverse my boneheadedness? I have this on my C:/ but during this reset up process i briefly redefined it on the HDD before realizing that was a bad idea and moved it back to the c/sdd drive Yes, but all of this is a remnant of the previous installation. I...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Boy this thread really escalated while I was AFK. Let me try to address everything I missed: I did a bunch of googling with the terms you said but mostly it seemed to be steering me to remote set up. I did do this though: I'm also fine disabling the Wndows Firewall for testing purposes...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Like just the injector into a cheaper switch? the one it's plugged into is a 1000 dollar switch, not super easy to just try another. However, i totally agree: that was the thing i messed with the most, i feel like it's gotta be firewall related. should I post some rules et al for the VLAN? feels...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

But if I have 1 camera enabled and that is H.264H, should I still suffer the issue? And I'm sorry but I dunno how to confirm if the BI Executables and storage folders are excluded from the virus... with some direction i'd be happy to provide that info (i'm sorry i don't deal with it ever)

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

I think they're actually set at 15FPS according to the actual Camera settings: But i read in the amazon description that it was 30fps so I simply set the max image size here at 30: I feel like that shouldn't have an actual impact but please correct me if i'm wrong

Ok but just need to figure that out (shouldn't take long)

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

Yes. though H.264H for the one where H.264 weren't available I don't think so. though, that was still the case 3 years ago when i'm near certain it worked. Currently no threats detected and no allowed threats added. Yes, like i said, i feel like this exact setup WAS more-or-less working...

toggling Hardware acceleration and restarting a single camera I've made the cbr changes to, doesn't seem to have changed the issue

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

was just coming back to say I'd found it (duh, sorry). I changed it to 40, the camera seems to have restarted but the skipping persists. I'll try to toggle hardware acceleration again

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

I've done the first 2 suggestions on 2 cameras (though one only had a H.264H option none w/o a suffix. I then went to turn off hardware acceleration but it was already off. So I toggled it to Intel, restarted the cameras (should this be done in the Unifi Switch UI or by right clicking the feed...

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

lol i write PC never spikes while posting a Task Manager screenshot where it spiked. I dunno what did that. All I did was open blue iris and enlarge one of the cameras from thumbnail to full screen then close it and screenshot Task Manager. I just tried reproducing that and there was no spike

Video stuttering, hardware probably underpowered but want to confirm configuration is fine

I am experiencing bad stuttering when trying to view the stream on any one of my cameras (about a 4 second delay in movement and then just a single frame at a time). This is the machine running blue iris: I have 16 Amcrest IP8M-T2499EW...

    CPU suggestion?

So basically, just tweaking sensitivity and masking areas? Probably oversimplied it but I assume that's basically what you mean? As I go through this tutorial, I'm at the stage where I'm now selecting "Hardware Accelerated Decode" in the Cameras Sub Menu. Would I still select "Intel + VPP"...
