Fence line - Bullet vs Vertical Turret

This is a capture from my 2MP B52IR-X3 that has 3.6mm, 12mm, and 25mm lenses all pointed at the same spot about 40-45ft away. All of the FOVs can see the guy on the lawnmower, but: One can Detect and Observe. One can Recognize. One can Identify. Pick the capture that best describes what you...

    Camera placement for new house

In hindsight, I probably wouldn't have ran everything on home runs, but being able to patch whatever, wherever is nice. So maybe consider running power and 2 ethernet to certain areas for a POE switch, and then you can branch other runs out from there. If the WAF allows it, I would go with a...

    Camera placement for new house

There's no kill like overkill, but you will want to check some of those positions with a camera before committing, just to make sure they are good. For looking at the doors, my thought is it is so you can see what happened, if something happened. Say you answer the door and have an altercation...

I bet a lot of you belong to the "HVAC crapped out at the worst time" club.

I've had good luck ordering parts from SupplyHouse.com. I thought my inducer motor went out, so I ordered one. It ended up just being some water in the housing. I drained it, and it's been good to go. I kept the new one because it was cheap enough to have, just in case. A couple months later, in...

I screwed up...broke the plastic part that accepts the rj45 jack

When terminating an RJ45, you want the insulation/sheathing to end in the connector so that it can crimp down on it.

    Camera placement for new house

My first thoughts. Front Door - Add an additional camera under the cover, pointed at the door. Guest Suite Door - Add an additional camera under the cover, pointed at the door. Covered Patio - Add an additional camera under the cover, pointed at the door. Garage - The crossing FOVs is nice. I...

Which resolution should I use for Dahua 4MP camera?

2688x1520 is full 4MP resolution at near 16:9 aspect ratio. I found this thread when doing a quick search. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/can-somebody-explain-the-resolution-modes-to-me.5961/

    Website for camera placement

It is around, but now requires a ridiculous subscription cost. There are others, but I can't remember what they are right now.

Have you considered Reolink? I bet they offer something like that.

I need help with the IPC-Color4K-T180

No, where it is installed. Keep everything the same, but swap the camera, to rule out everything in between. And then the same with the trouble 180 where the other camera was.

What happens if you temporarily swap the problem camera with a different camera?

    Nosey neighbor?

I just had a conversation like this with my neighbor across the street. Our families were on vacation and visited a water park at a lodge. They had a mix of smaller Hik/Dahua type domes and the large SURVEILLANCE type housings (which I think were mostly just visual deterrents, left there after...

    Camera Recommendations

These are in my post linked above, but wanted to add them here as well. My T54IR is not meant for reading plates, but I have saved some images just to show license plate captures at distances. T54IR-ZE at 12mm 40' 75' And this is the B52IR-Z12E. I don't know what the focal length is set...

    Camera Recommendations

If you are able to get it close enough to the road, the T54IR-ZE could work, but most either use the B54IR-Z4E or B52IR-Z12E. The Z4 is 4MP, but only gets to 32mm. The Z12E is 2MP, but reaches out at 60mm.

    Camera Recommendations

T54IR-ZE will get you to 12mm and allow you to adjust for length of the 9' width to the property line. This will be the most recommended camera by 90% of the forum. A varifocal bullet that zooms more than the T54IR-ZE will be above your budget, but the B54IR-Z4E is what would be recommended...

Tips for a successful termination with RJ-45 connector

The wire order jumping when inserted is why I do it the way I do. Leaving them long allows you to straighten them out and get them into proper order more easily. Getting them into order before trimming to length helps keep them in order after they are trimmed. If you follow those steps, it...

Tips for a successful termination with RJ-45 connector

This is a reply I gave in another post. I have used a lot of the IDEAL connectors from Lowes, but got connectors from TrueCable when I made my last order. Both work well. Also, a continuity tester is a must when making your own cables, especially when using a patch panel. It's saved my butt so...

I need more hobbies.. Working on a PVC post discrete camera housing... (a better birdhouse)

Yep, did all of that. Even with a wide brim it curled. I may give it another go at some point. I was using Bambu ASA.

Tried ASA, but gave up. I settled on PETG and will see how it holds up. The signs are PETG as well.

B52IR-Z12E out of focus 10 seconds after switching over to Night

It may have just needed to have its handle jiggled. I have some cams that get stuck in color or B/W, for no reason. A switch from Night/Day or Day/Night usually will fix it.

Not with AI SSA, I only run SSA.

B52IR-Z12E out of focus 10 seconds after switching over to Night

It's usually "expected" that B/W will need a different focus. I believe it is due to the IR filter dropping in front of the lens and changing the focus, slightly. Some will run their LPR in full time B/W for this reason.
