    Bitrate issues

They are hardwired, however I originally ordered cca wire so I’m using that for testing and have good solid copper for the actual install. My switch is off brand as well, I intend to replace it with a ubiquity edge switch in the near future.

    Bitrate issues

i should’ve checked the FPS from direct web feed, I’ll definitely do that if it becomes an issue again. The bottom screenshot is from BI status window, I just added cam labels and lines. I think it was a BI related bug, I am on 5.3.1.0 may go to 5.3.1.1 or 5.3.0.3. It was working perfectly, then...

    Bitrate issues

Yeah it could be a bug I suppose. It was working great, updated the firmware and it started happening. Raising the bitrate up still couldn’t pull 20fps, but had no issue at the lowest setting. I think it stopped doing that now. Just had to do a fresh install of BI because my timeline vanished...

    Bitrate issues

I found setting that give me 20fps, but i am getting dropped frames. What typically gives better results VBR or CBR, I am not concerned with disk space so i assume CBR would be better? I have two amcrest cams setup like below, for reference cam #2 and #3: \ Cam #1 is a 5831r-ze Cam #4 is a...

    Bitrate issues

I dont think I fully understand the bitrate settings, but on my 5831r-ze any bitrate setting above 4096Kb/s significantly drops the frame rate. It cannot reach 15-20fps. Shouldn’t a higher bitrate increase fps? Also the resolution is higher than my other cameras, and all other aspects (fps...

IPC-HDW5231R-ZE Rhea V2.800.0000016.0.R.200430 Latest new firmware

I have a couple questions. Regarding traffic, I am running a duel NIC setup, since my cams are segregated on a different lan port should I only be concerned with traffic on that port? Running wireshark without adjusting anything only shows traffic between cams and an ip on the same subnet. On my...

    IPC-HDW5442TM-AS Discontinued

Anyone have any insight into why the IPC-HDW5442TM-AS was discontinued and replaced with IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE?

Blue Iris & OpenVPN iOS 14

So far it looks like BI and OpenVPN are working flawlessly on iOS 14. I think some of the vpn bugs may have been worked out in the new version as well. A new feature I think is pretty cool is that apps cannot just connect to your local network, they must be granted permission. OpenVPN did not...

Andy’s Empire Tech Ali store down?

I just went to browse Andy’s aliexpress store, but it’s empty now. Is this something that happens on occasion, maybe updating listings or something of the sort?

Couple questions regarding NTP settings, and some other basic settings

I should clarify, I’ve made no changes to the firewall on the router. I have allowed everything for BI through the windows firewall, and even tried shutting down all firewalls. My second NIC (KillerLan) has always been buggy, it took a while to get the driver to function. There are some...

Couple questions regarding NTP settings, and some other basic settings

Yeah I followed the duel NIC setup guide exactly. My cams are not detected at all that I can see on the router side. I cannot access the cams from my iPhone using the cams ip. I believe that’s all as it should be. However when on the WiFi network with my phone I should be able to access the BI...

Couple questions regarding NTP settings, and some other basic settings

I do have a DDNS setup and it looks to be added into the OpenVPN setup file. I have not done anything with certificates, is that something i should do? here is an image of my VPN settings if it helps.

Couple questions regarding NTP settings, and some other basic settings

Thank you, that is nice and straight forward. Okay so time sync should now be a non-issue in connecting for me. I have my OpenVPN server setup on my router and phone, but i am only able to access my camera feeds on my BI pc. On my iphone i cannot access the cam feed when on cellular network...

Couple questions regarding NTP settings, and some other basic settings

Hello everyone i have a couple questions i am hoping to get guidance on. For background i am running a simple setup, just modem to router to BI server PC, then 2nd NIC from BI PC to switch and then cams. So i am wondering what the recommended method is to handle NTP settings. I do not want it as...

Am I on the right track?

Alright I believe i have the 2 NICs setup correctly, adjusted camera IP, added to Blue Iris okay. tapping out for the night i will play with the VPN aspect tomorrow. I do have one question, is it possible to use the BI ios app with this configuration (no port forwarding), is the app decent, or...

Am I on the right track?

Okay so I can now detect the cameras. They have ip 10.122.15.x I need to change them to static IP 192.168.2.x (NIC2 subnet). I am assuming mask is the std 255.255.255.0, but what do I put for the gateway? Any IP on the same subnet, or the same as my ipv4 ip?

Am I on the right track?

Okay thanks I was planning on hooking up a couple at once now that I know the/a issue

Am I on the right track?

It was actually a store bought cable that was the issue ironically. It’s an old one that was laying around though and I dropped my switch the other day and caught it by the cable, think that may have done it in.

Am I on the right track?

Well I certainly appreciate all of the assistance and you guys bearing with me. I am pretty sure I have a bad cable, got a cam to show up for a second while applying pressure to the cable. I’m going to throw together a couple new cables and see what I get. When the camera showed i also had my...

Am I on the right track?

Yeah i switched the NIC1 back to its default, and NIC2 to what i believe is the initial subnet the cams use. l am still not able to discover any cams with the Dahua IP config tool when searching 192.168.2.x

Am I on the right track?

i just mean my BI PC NIC1 is wired to the router with rj45, everything else runs on wifi. and the POE switch is connected to the BI PC through NIC2.

Am I on the right track?

so mine just goes modem -> router -> lan line to BI PC nic 1 -> bi pc to poe switch. that should be fine right?

Am I on the right track?

Yeah my switch has providing power and status light blinking so it may not be that. first/main NIC: ipv4: 10.122.15.192 DHCP/gateway: 10.122.15.26 2nd NIC: IPv4: 10.204.32. router: Wan ip: 173.45.189.x LAN ip: 10.122.15.26 cameras I am unable to find an ip for. They do not show up when...

Am I on the right track?

You say it’s pretty straight forward, buttt I’m having some issues and can not determine the cause yet. Second NIC doesn’t see anything. Tried hooking my switch to my router and using the amcrest view pro app, p2p connection (same network) and still can’t find anything. I just dug out a power...

Am I on the right track?

Yeah after reading the sensor section that became clear to me. When I first found the site i thought it was odd everyone bought from a member here so just glanced over it, but I ended up going through his posts and others and plan to buy my starlights from Andy. As long as I can figure out how...

Am I on the right track?

Yeah I have a better understanding now and am going through wopi82’s write up in the wiki now. One more question I have is there a list of preferred vendors for dahua starlight turret cams? I typically use amazon due to prime, but they’re not available. I’ve seen alibaba or whatever mentioned a...

Am I on the right track?

I know turning down frame rate and resolution won’t help low light performance I just meant to save disk space and resources if it was necessary. It’s not that I am determined to use 4K, I was just confused why anyone would spend 2x as much for a camera that is 1/2 the resolution when the only...
