Hello, I'm looking for the Dahua firmware for the IP8M-T2499E(W/B)-28MM

Yeah I'm going to test it out with the current build that I have and get one of the WD purples so I'm not just using the 4tb that's inside the NVR my cameras came with.

Most of the cost of the build is 4 14tb WD purple drives. Plus with the cameras I have now it seems that it would already be close to what the 9900k can do since it's 10 4k cameras.

So you think I should just go with a 9900k or another intel cpu? For the info on AMD I was looking at this post and this one

By the way thank you very much for all the explanations and help! :)

First time setting up security system

Okay okay. I think I understand it a lot more now. If I'm understanding this it seems like I might not need something more powerful than the 9900k or maybe if I'm lucky I won't need a 9900k at all. I was sitting here while waiting for your replies and doing research on what you were telling me...

So with this "Blue Iris always records the main stream to the disk. No extra CPU is required for this as there is no decoding involved. " If I'm not actively viewing the cameras than the cpu usage would not be much of an issue or do I misunderstand?

So, just to clerify. With the substream it wouldn't be recording at 4k until it detected motion and once it detected motion it would start recording in 4k? Or would it always be recording in 4k but just wouldn't show the 4k on the monitor unless motion is detected?

O Ohhhhhh. Okay. That makes a whole lot more sense.

First time setting up security system

So I will need the I9-9900k than is what you are saying correct? If a 9900k ended up not being enough what would I want to go with? I can't seem to find anything that tells me roughly how much a CPU would be able to handle for cameras. Also what does the substream do? I looked around a bit but...

The amcrest ones. I am replacing the existing 10 arlos.

Well currently I only have 8 of the cameras and the other two should be on their way. After looking around my house I am thinking I will only need 2 more cameras of the same type and one decentish one. So 12 of the 8mp ones.

First time setting up security system

Well 10 of the cameras I have right now are 8mp.

I was just going to use the 980ti to output to a 4k monitor when I end up getting one to view the footage from that pc.

Yeah I already have that computer. It's the spare parts from my old gaming pc.

I do have this second computer that I could use first before building the new one. Second build 2.0 So with the "Choosing Hardware for Blue Iris" would you not recommend the bit at the bottom about what cpu to use?

Somewhat understand what the 1/1.8'' sensor is now. I'd rather just build a new pc and get everything up and running ASAP since when looking I didn't see any decent used PC's in my area.

I looked over the second link before but never saw the first so I'm reading that now. Thanks!

First time setting up security system

I have no idea what a 1/1.8'' sensor is to be honest. The reason that I picked that CPU/Build would be because This guide at the end says "Add up the total megapixels per second (MP/s) you intend to run. Example: For two 8MP cameras each at 15 FPS you have 2 (cameras) * 8 (MP) * 15 (FPS) = 240...

First time setting up security system

Hello, I am replacing my arlo cameras and this is my first time setting up a proper secuirty system and I wanted to make sure I do it right. I currently have 10 alro cameras and am going to be replacing all of them with this camera from amcrest and I am planning on adding another 2-4 of the...
