    Motion Detection

Is there a size option I am missing for sensitivity? Something per say instead of 50% of my wife required it is only 25%. Or is this merely where all the multiple detectors come in?

That helps. I may extend into an area I don’t care about to get the detection in the area I want while that extra area does t actually trip

    Motion Detection

Just want to follow up with a question on ivs. I set a trip wire and was watching it live as my wife passed over it, but it didn’t trigger till half her body was over the line. Just want to understand the strategy of improving this.

    Unreliable IVS Intrusion setup

I’m just exploring Ivs over blue deep stack, but if the door is above the trash can, I say make the detection box larger.

    Motion Detection

Dang. I just looked through the linked thread. I didn’t realize how smart these cameras are on their own. not to mention the tripwires and areas configuration seems way cleaner than it is in BI. It was an aspect I never messed with as it was never clear to me. Guess I’ll be messing with this a bit.

    Motion Detection

I can see the load issue if it was local. For me I have deep stack in a docket container. Not that that changes the strategy overall, but it is the point that other than saving stills, it adds minimal load to my system.

oh, your car is gone? sorry, my camera has nothing as I am not peeping on you all day, sorry.

    Motion Detection

It seems things are constantly evolving and changing, so keeping up is sometimes hard. With image and motion detection, I am trying to understand something. When I began my camera journey, I read about deepstack, and that what my direction. Then the improvement of camera detection followed so...

    FOV and camera config

ok, getting things a little more dialed in. took the soffit down to locate a more permanent mount point other that a 2x4 leaning against the house. Only direction I could go is 6-10 inches left, but I doubt that buys me anything given the current state. If anything some tilting and rotating...

    5442 ip reset

you only have one untagged vlan and that is usually default. If you have a security vlan you have to set the port profile to it as opposed to all. Reason being, the camera does not appear to support vlan tagging/trunking so the port has to be the profile of the subnet/vlan it is on.

    FOV and camera config

points noted. There is no thin man and if I have a camera pointing the other direction towards this one, it captures the bit in question. Anything much farther down the drive will detect and capture an object, but not enough to identify. About the only thing it may identify is the amazon...

    FOV and camera config

good point, they are usually off. but after reading here, I thought we like color night photos, so I was planning a automated power on off the lights when the camera detects motion... Perhaps I cancel that project :)

    FOV and camera config

This is the bit I am struggling to learn. I feel if I cut the carriage lights then I create a blind spot by cutting left. However, at the same time, if the Garage is closed, I would not technically miss anything except whatever is against the garage door. Putting a camera in the garage itself...

It is. Probably the only reason i would need it in the shot is if I want to play vigilante? Here is what it looks like

    FOV and camera config

whats the strategy here? flip to portrait for a taller image that gets across the whole front of the garage or stay landscape for the wider image? landscape captures more to the left and less to the bottom right. The goal is another camera at the other end of the garage facing this direction...

    5442 ip reset

Not sure what is happening, but when I change the ip, my camera becomes inaccessible. log into 1.108, set password, set up, save. once complete I am not able to access the camera. My router shows the new ip of the device as set, but I cannot reach it on the ip I set. I am setting my computer...

    Mounting above a light

Glad to hear I’m doing it right. I agree with what seems like better depth of field. Looking down your street things are quite clear, it’s pretty amazing.

    Mounting above a light

Ah yes, this is where I go confused. I searched 5442NI and saw the dome version, but now I see it is both dome and bullet. Is the benefit to the bullet the fact that you get longer ranges? Or is there more to it? I came to accept this as my "standard", IPC-T5442T-ZE, be it the right or wrong...

Looks good. This is precisely what I was after. About the only difference, I might be slightly closer to the light and using a 5442. what cameras are those and if I may, why did you go with those. I’m still green in this space and currently my first camera was a 5442 and now my second is too...

Yikes. Your attic looks no bueno. Mine shrinks to nothing at the edge, but other than that it’s just the heat and my own crap that get in my way

Yes. I can see daylight. See it all the time. Use the attic space for storage, so have space up there.

    Mounting above a light

Got it. Time to build a test rig as it is the only way to know for sure. one other thing. I’ve never gone digging in a soffit like this. Is there anything to worry about up there?
