    New Doorbell advice

I agree, but getting cat 6/5 to where it is needed sometimes is not feasible

    New Doorbell advice

not a lot have cat5 to the doorbell without a lot of work. With that. Is the 5ghz version of the reolink technically the same ? have a ezviz but it is 2.4 and 3mp. Was thinking the reolink with 5ghz and 5mp would be a good upgrade.

    Local recording

Also. Is video detection then also its own setting? Video detection, smart detection and ivs. or is video detection the default requiredfor the rest below it?

Thanks. I’ll play with it and see

    Local recording

Got it. Is one better that the other? I see lots of ivs setup so I assume it, but still just asking. Or is it a per application choice

    Local recording

Yeah. One thing I noticed is that it appears the camera is triggering on some shadow movements where as deep stack ignores this. at the same time. Deep stack missed the 5am Amazon delivery on my 5442 but triggered on my ezviz doorbell in literally the same location.

Good call. It is a 5442 from Andy. So Dahua, technically?

    Local recording

Added as cards to my cameras and they started to record locally. Quite a bit actually. To the point I cannot compare it to BI. Is there a way to have it indicate the trigger, smart detection vs ivs? Not seeing it.

Seeking some guidance choosing first home camera setup

Bi only runs on windows joke or not, windows is not malware, far from it. It isn’t 1995 anymore

    What doorbell camera in 2022?

I have an easy viz it is dying a short death. It takes direct sun and now after 18 months I have to power cycle it to get it online. Then it stops. it still works the chime but as a camera it is dead. Need to warranty it out. one major reason I can’t even look at the new UniFi as it is...

    Image tearing/streaking

I am sure of it too, it is just sometimes difficult to identify where in the guide to look for certain issues and it can be easier to ask in the forum which I have found super helpful to date.

    Image tearing/streaking

I was just laughing about it. It is not a negative, this was a me thing I did stumble upon what seems to be a useful setting. The group settings in UI3. Guess it has its own "Dynamic Max Resolution" This was set to 1440. So I slid it to the max and things improved drastically. See...

    Image tearing/streaking

@DanDenver yeah, that is crazy, this images look great and tell me this is a me issue, it is just a matter of sorting the why. similar to the streaking because of the encoding, maybe this too is another setting I am missing somewhere. As for the mutated thread, I am good with it. It is all...

    Image tearing/streaking

@wittaj Thanks for the recommendation. I never realized I can go beyond the the 1024 max setting, but seems custom lets me go way higher if desired. I guess one thing I am seeing now that is on is a BI multi view issue. For instance, if I am viewing the video of my 3 cameras, the time stamp...

    Image tearing/streaking

I’ll mess with those settings from a improvement perspective, but the tearing issue I had appears resolved changing to generic. now I seek being able to see the main feed in bi, which I think is only possible if I create a duplicate camera that doesn’t record and only has the main configured...

    Image tearing/streaking

But when you look at live view is it displaying the main stream or the sub?

    Image tearing/streaking

An interesting question. In BI, all my feeds are the secondary stream, so the quality is low till triggered. I assume this is in my setup. Is the strategy to always record the primary or make the switch when triggered? With that, if I record the secondary 24/7, in BI is the strategy to have...

    Image tearing/streaking

yes, the 5442. I had it at 30/30, 15/15 and even 30/60, all did the same and with daylight. Bit rate was already set to max and CBR. I need to wait till tomorrow, but I stumbled upon a post this event (albeit a little older) and it talked about smart codec/encoding strategy. It was set to...

    Image tearing/streaking

There are a few threads on this topic without real resolution so figured to have my own. middle of the day and might see the pixelated blob behind a person walking through the frame. first off, when this happens, is it a bi issue, bi computer issue, browser view or camera issue? that’s just...

    SD cards

thanks. I know for slr and other rpi duties the evo cards are durable. not industrial, but lots and lots of write durability. I have a cheapo maybe 8GB in a doorbell camera, whats a good capacity target? I like to suspect that since I am not looking for 24/7 recording and instead just...

    SD cards

Probably a stupid question and I think I know the answer with prices these days. do you guys put so cards in the camera as a fail safe to the BI system going down or not firing?

    Motion Detection

Got it. I will play with it. I think the key from reading above is the idea of multiple layers if needed. A single box or trip wire might be ok. But other layers on it improve from good to better to best.
