ONVIF Compatible, POE, 2k or 4k Doorbell?

I have the Reolink wireless - but I have it wired & powered via an adapter. I need to find my notes to recall how and why ... OK ... I bypassed the PS leads because the actual doorbell side required 24v. Since the NVR autodetects POE and the POE lines are disconnected - it should be OK...

    EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

It seems that some labels may have changed over time "Camera Registration Screen" doesn't show up anywhere in the NVR app and "realtime monitoring status" appears to be unknown to the Search feature of the NVR. Is this the correct screenshot? (I'll be working on the other camera problem...

    EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

Been there. The new camera, that I just connected, behaves fine there. I'm become suspicious of the cable. I ran some tests a little earlier. I'm going to replace the inside connector as pin 8 hints at intermittent.

    EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

It doesn't appear to be showing anywere. Not in Remote Device, etc. I did just connect my newest EmpireTech camera and it works (see pic of PoE page). Interestingly, adding the second camera caused the wattage to the first to increase.

    EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

Yup. Unmounted the camera, killed the black & white spider, opened the compartment, then leaned on the microswitch for 30 seconds. Tried 2x, in case I didn't have good contact with the micro-switch. Nada. I noticed that it was in "Not Auto Connected" and deleted it there. Tried again ... Nada...

    EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

OK, well, the password I thought I'd set for admin ... isn't. (I've always accessed via a user account I created.) It timed out after I tried a few. Dahua wants email, SSN, etc just to reset the password. Nope. Is there a mechanical way (e.g. pinhole press?) to cause a factory reset? Just found...

    EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

I have our EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI setup and and working and it does display already-networked cameras OK. We have a Loryta 4mp Starlight about 80' from the NVR (it was powered via a remote POE then data via a remote router in switch mode). It is just now directly connected via a CAT7 cable -...

Dahua NVR, DMSS and P2P - How are they connected?

Can you bypass the potential privacy and security concerns by firewalling the NVR IP and only accessing the NVR via VPN - using a web browser (on your phone) and not the app?

    Drone swarms in the northeast?

Charlie Kirk is young ... he routinely gets things out of context, or simply wrong. I don't know Steven Greer's credentials - but this has persuaded me to not rely on him for good intel.

Need good SFF PC for Blue Iris and HA

Does BI require the use of the MS version of windows #11? Or, does it work with the far more hardware-efficient, and spyware-free, Linux OS? Also, apart from the forever-bloated MS hardware demands, is a BI user likely to observe the difference between a 7th or 8th generation Intel CPU - when...

Need good SFF PC for Blue Iris and HA

Our son just posted a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7050 SFF that should be more than adequate. 64g ram, i5-7500 3.40ghz, 140g SSD (for the OS & apps), 1TB HDD for storage. He has it packaged with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse - for local pickup. Even using pirateship .com I'm not sure what the pc...

    EmpireTech NV41AI-8P-4KH or NVR8CH-AI

I'm sure but once learned, and set up - at least for the basics, it should require minimal attention ... until I decide to tinker with additional features. I suppose I can ... just wanted to be sure I could justify it for the budget. Would you say that the 5 series NVR is a better choice (features and minimal maintenance) than software on a PC?

    EmpireTech NV41AI-8P-4KH or NVR8CH-AI

Is a 5-series NVR preferred to a software solution such as BlueIris? (I've read that they may be easier to setup, and less time-consuming to maintain.)
