Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

Kind of programmed obsolescence I guess, to avoid claims when they break... having said that, I am a photographer and I would have a right go at Nikon if my camera stopped working when the shutter reached the 200k cycles it's rated for... it just goes on until it eventually fails, often a whole...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

That's very good to hear! I read somewhere else that leaving a PTZ on touring presets like that may cause premature wear & tear, but your case seems to prove it may not always be the case. Probably will also be a function of how well the PTZ mechanisms are built.

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

Very nice @TRLcam !! - I just had a look on the youtube channel. Do you have the camera on a patrol routine moving around all the time? How long has it been going for?

Are browsers and platforms dropping support for Foscam cameras???

Just in case it's of any use, I have some older cameras, that will only open the GUI on Internet Explorer. After a lot of digging around, I found that this registry key, set this way, will allow IE to work on Windows 10...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

Just read a few more posts on the forum and it seems rain-x or similar products may have an adverse effect on the camera lens cover... I think I will investigate a little further

Maybe worth a try... I will probably try something like that on the more accessible cameras before even starting with the roof :)

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

I was actually thinking of something so the water doesn't "stick" so to speak to the lens cover, not so much for the purpose of viewing during rain, but because of the dirt that's left over when it dries... recently we've had lots of storms carrying sand/dirt and the view from the camera goes...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

I have an additional thing to deal with here... even the tiniest hole / gap anywhere, insects nest in... I have had cameras where the screw holes were completely sealed up with mud and the likes... outdoor maintenance of any equipment is non-stop... I wonder if one of those sprays for...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

Yes... my routine for outdoor cameras includes going round and wiping them after it rains sand/dirt... this is one of the things that was putting me off for roof top cameras...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

Just had a look at it, it's definitely nice! I need to figure out a total budget for this, including cameras, pole extension, extra POE switch, cable runs, junction boxes etc. If/when I get it done I will also share the setup and some pics

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

I'm glad I'm not the only one entertaining the idea... ;) Thanks for the turret mount form factor suggestion. Is there any particular 180 brand/model you were looking at? If you ever get round to setting that many up, I'd love to see what it looks like I would be happy with even 4 separate...

Is there a way to schedule daily camera restart?

In BI, under camera -> schedule -> events schedule -> you can add events that are scheduled and/or based on sunrise / sunset and the functions include both reset and restart... I think at one time I had it enabled for some old Foscam cameras that misbehaved when changing from night to day at...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

I live in a rural area, around 3,500ft elevation, mountainy region. Weather can change very rapidly, winds can be high (so it can rain and snow almost horizontally at times...) I was considering installing camera(s) on the roof, taking advantage of a TV/weather station mast I already have up...

    Lightning strikes

I just came across this post as I was looking for something else. I live in a mountain area and get lots of thunderstorms... I have three outdoor spots where a sealed junction box houses a POE switch, and the lightning was frying ports all the time, used to buy a switch every few months. The...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

It's working!!!! v2.2.4 Only tiny issue I can see is BI thinks it is on a different version of CP AI but who cares!!!

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

I'm trying to download it now, it's painfully slow for some reason. I will update here as soon as I check if it works

How to install PoE camera with limited attic access?

a PTP radio link with Ubiquiti, if setup properly, will work really well. I have 3 such links to cover areas of my garden where I have cameras located and where I do not care to reach with a long ethernet cable. For short distances, the cheaper units will do fine, I have three 4-5mp cameras on...

Stream from (cheap) camera unstable at higher bitrate?

Many thanks for your comprehensive and fast response - totally aligned with you. I just thought that increasing the bitrate while leaving the framerate lowish would actually improve performance on the camera side, but of course I do not know the details of the components used and their ratings...

Stream from (cheap) camera unstable at higher bitrate?

I submit this to the collective wisdom here, as it doesn't make much sense to me... I would assume that a higher bitrate setting on a camera implies less compression and therefore less processor load on the camera side. This test I ran on some cheap cameras, I have not tried the same on my...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

According to what I read on the CP AI forum, there are still issues even with 2.2.3 but they're being worked on, on the BI side too.

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Yes, on the list of things to do. Can't quite yet. I am running BI and other servers in a rack, and have an old VGA monitor connected via KVM for when remote desktop doesn't work. I need to get a VGA adapter so I can use one of the ports on the GTX1060, since all other servers are also connected...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Thanks. Thought so. So I just tested as you suggested. So the .net directML version uses GPU0 (my onboard intel) and the 6.2 uses GPU1 (the GTX1060) I guess there is no way of making the .net use GPU1 - I thought I read somewhere that performance was improved when using directML vs CUDA...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Mike, yes was reading about that on the CP AI forum. But there still is also the issue of BI not detecting CP AI is running, and that the config for auto start/stop for the service, or selection of the custom models doesn't work. Nonetheless, with CP AI running and having selected the custom...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Do you find 6GB is not enough memory? With these issues I have been unable to see what kind of CPU/GPU usage I'd get in challenging conditions (think garden when it's windy). I'm currently running 10 cameras via AI ranging between 5mp and 3mp (most of them are 4, two are 5) at 15fps and using...
