FEMA is Worthless and the US Government is a Fucking Joke

Hard to imagine the US government has such incredible distain for its own citizens. It’s not just incompetence, it’s clearly deliberate. One can only imagine the chaos that will come from the election in November.

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

OPNsense and Pfsense are definitely related. Pfsense came first but then OPNsense forked off and created their own version. Pfsense is basically run by Netgate while OPNsense is owned by Decisio. Today they look quite different and both are very capable but I prefer OPNsense because IMHO the...

Definitely a big fan of OPNsense, very customizable and easy to navigate.

How to find the IP address of my Dahua camera

The camera is on a different subnet, change your computer to also be on the 192.168.15.x subnet and you should be able to access it and set the static IP on the camera so it works. If you are on windows then go to Network & Internet, then Ethernet, then edit IP assignment and select manual then...

HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

I've had alot of experience with Ubiquiti stuff and I've yet to see a complete failure on anything I deployed. There have been some reported issues on the cloudkey plus with (swelling) batteries and (failed) HD drives in them but again it's all been second hand, never seen any myself. Too bad...

How to find the IP address of my Dahua camera

Reset the camera to default first then make sure your computer is set to the right subnet (factory IP for Dahua is 192.168.1.108 so your computer needs to be 192.168.1.x). If all is good there then try the default address for the camera and see if it works. If not then download Advanced IP...

Another vote for fiber in PVC here too. Plenty of speed, reliable and lightening proof.

    Smart Electrical Panels, Yes?

No way I’d ever be using a smart panel, overpriced (plenty of 3rd party solutions for this) and no control plus you have another potential security point to look after.

WD Purple as Windows system drive?

Not a good idea. Whatever you choose, make sure it will fit a 3.5” purple for data and an SSD for your OS and BI install.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Makes sense. I don’t think Reolink has any on board AI, does it?

Question IP camera and IP public.

You'd want to use something like Wiregard, OpenVPN or similar to create a private VPN tunnel between the two sites, this would also require routers on both ends that can handle this configuration and create the tunnel. Definitely doable but need to have the right setup to pull it off.

ipcamtalk store support ? need help with Blue Iris Key

Ahhhh, that explains alot, did not know that. I've been trying to get camera support help for a while but never got a DM response back from @Mike since mid June.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

So you had the camera for 6 months and no issues until this formware update? I would say it's definitely worth a call to Reolink for tech support and possible warranty.

    Tree sap on sensor

Honestly if that sap is like pine tree sap then you’ll have to use something like WD-40 to soften and remove it. That will leave an oily residue so you’ll need to use a degreaser like Windex after to make sure then lens is perfectly clean again.

    Unable to connect on WAN

I had trouble with ZT where I had to keep logging into my online account and reauthorizing the machine. It would work for a while then stop again and I’d have to repeat the process. Eventually I got tired of it and switched over to another VPN.

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

No worries, I just misunderstood. I think it was post #17 that threw me off where you mentioned accessing the cameras and the controller was out of the picture. Makes perfect sense how you have it configured because it would be a pain to pull off all that VLAN routing without it. Sounds like...

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

I appreciate the response. The BI setting obviously is network related (or we’d all have this problem) but my actual question was why would some folks have issues and others not? What circumstances or situations create this issue? We already know what the fix is but none of those threads...

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

Mike is there a reason why not having that box checked caused a problem in this case? I don’t have it checked at all and using Ubiquiti equipment I never had any issues like that. Is this something specific to TP-link equipment? I know Sonnie mentioned that these cameras weren’t on the Omada...

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

To me the test would be to take a camera out of the controller and see how it works during a power failure situation. If you get the same issue, then it's not the controller (likely a BI config issue) but if it does work on that camera while others have issues then it's likely the controller...

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

That’s what I was thinking too but wasn’t sure if the cameras were also left at the original IP and the controller was having to renegotiate all the IPs at startup. If not then I don’t know how you would shut that situation down (assuming Mike’s suggestion didn’t work nor did setting static IPs...

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

Sounds like the BI machine is coming online faster than the controller can negotiate the cameras and is causing issues. So I would unplug one of your cameras, plug it into just a stand alone dumb switch, then plug a PC/laptop into the switch and login to the camera directly. If the camera is...

Blue Iris not retaining IP address after power loss

Every device should have a static IP (cameras, NICs, switches, router, controller, etc) and those static addresses should all be set on each of the devices not in the controller. This ensures anytime you lose power the device requests the same IP again before it reconnects to your network. The...

Compact indoor wall camera powered from lighting circuit?

If it’s too hard to run ethernet then I would try to get some way to simplify things. Seems like dealing with the light is a headache so I would just convert to an outlet then use this to get your data over to the BI PC. Then again you can use either wifi or hardwired, whatever you prefer...

Compact indoor wall camera powered from lighting circuit?

If you’re already running BI, why not just run a POE cable right to that location so you don’t have any limitations on what cameras you can use at all?
