    NVR Needed

If you are going to be recording 24x7 just use a cheap EyeSurv NVR... $99.99 on Amazon, or $89.99 from Nellys... if you want motion detection, then stick with a HikVision NVR or build a PC and do Blue Iris.

    Amazon/hikvision

I've purchased a few cameras from ExMAx with mixed results on quality and reliability, I ended up going back to Nellys.

    IP Cameras Throttling Bandwidth

First off, never never never run your cameras on the same physical ethernet switch as the rest of your network, UNLESS you are running enterprise grade equipment and can vlan off your cameras, but even then, some lower end enterprise grade equipment don't have enough bandwidth in their switching...

    LAN issues with security camera

that wasnt my question, does the camera require power over ethernet or does it have its own dedicated DC adapter?

Failed Motion Detection - Car broken into...

Those cameras are 20 feet away from eachother and are crossed over on their exposures, so if one detects motion, the other is just seeing the opposite side of that person.

IP Camera PoE vs. Std 1080P NVR phone streaming quality

You arent going to be able to stream full 1080p to a phone.. period. There isn't enough bandwidth on your mobile carrier to support fluid streaming. I'd certainly reccomend HikVision cameras, but regardless of which cameras you purchase, there isn't going to be one that will smoothly stream...

I'm not sure how to make adjustments to sensivity for day vs night? Can you offer any suggestions?

Failed Motion Detection - Car broken into...

yup, it triggers just fine during the day... literally if a lizard runs across the driveway it will go off. After this happening, I'm now tempted to just buy a big hard drive and record 24x7 and abandon the idea of motion detection all together. It's funny, but I've never felt unsafe up here...

Failed Motion Detection - Car broken into...

Here are the motion settings for both driveway cameras.. I have them set 20 feet apart and "cross beaming" eachother on the driveway so I can view both sides of my cars.

Failed Motion Detection - Car broken into...

all cameras were up and operational, otherwise I would have had watchdog alerts. This is the case of night vision motion didn't go.

Failed Motion Detection - Car broken into...

Well it happened to us night before last. I have 5 2332's on the network, recording with motion to BI. It appears between 2:51am and 3:11am, forwhateverreason the cameras didn't detect motion, and bingo bammo, someone broke into my across the street neighbors car and ransacked it. I live in...

    2332 Image all messed up

Order a new one, send back the old one, make her provide reimbursement for the cost of the return shipping and be done with it? Just my two cents worth.

    Hardware help.

Cameras with an NVR aren't as steep as you think they are, the PC adds a whole nother level of complexity.

    Hardware help.

avoid Hikvisions iVMS, as it is very unreliable. Spend the money on blue iris. its $60 one time and will save you a ton of frustration. Or if you don't have the PC to spare, a $99 eyesurv NVR from NellysSecurity.com might be a good solution as well.

Is anyone currently using an offsite storage provider to archive their BI data? If so whom, how much, and how? thanks in advance!

Rough estimate of daily storage requirement for 24-hours

External drives constantly have a problem of "disconnecting" from their host, as they really aren't made to be constantly written and read from, as a result you will get intermitten drops and framerate losses.

Very Disappointed - Lack Of Support

rudeness will get you no where man... Ken does an awesome job on this software, and if you aren't happy, then by all means, go buy something else... a ton more expensive, and then complain somewhere else about it, cuz Ken does an awesome job and we fully support him!
