    Portrait mode for HFW5442E-ZE

Yes sorry you're right, I meant 90 degrees. I'll experiment with how it looks rotated and then decide I guess. Thanks all! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

OK well at least I now know I'm not missing something.

    Portrait mode for HFW5442E-ZE

Right, but then with this particular camera not being uniform all the way round it'll look strange rotated 180 degrees...not that there is anything I can do about it!

    Portrait mode for HFW5442E-ZE

Hi all, I've just installed a HFW5442E-ZE at the side of my house where it is looking down a long but narrow stretch of area. I was advised here that I could put this camera into "portrait" mode to best cover this area but I'm not sure quite how to do that. Physically, the camera is installed...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Interesting, I didn't think of that! The other cam is more accessible than the one I took down today so I might still remove it but if it is indeed wired in reverse and again cable is limited, I might go with your suggestion! Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

OK so I only had time today to take one of the cameras down but when I did, I found the problem instantly. The wiring at the camera end was back to front, i.e. he had attempted to follow T-568B but had wired it in reverse order!! What an absolute tool! To make matters worse, despite my repeated...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

I'm using T-568B. The camera cable at the switch end is wired to this standard. When I take the cameras off I'll check the wiring on that end is also to this standard. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Yes definitely I have a tester so will check the cables when I remove the cameras. Sorry I did mean other PoE ports...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Yea looks like it. I haven't tried every PoE switch but the one I'm trying is the one I had the previously setup cam connected to so I highly doubt there is an issue with the port. I'll try nonetheless. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

No I didn't - it wasn't done by me. The electrician doing all the other wiring did it. He also did the wall socket so although I know that's no guarantee he did the camera cable wrong it's lower down my list of possible causes, particularly because both cameras are experiencing this issue...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Yes into one of the PoE ports. The right light comes on and stays solid. The left light does not come on at all. But I would have thought that is because until the camera is initialized and ready there won't be any data flowing through the link...? Correct into one of the non-POE ports. The...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

    1) what is the IP address of your laptop ? 192.168.1.2 (that's when I manually set it to try and connect to the camera. Otherwise it is assigned an IP address by my router using DHCP and my home network subnet is 192.168.0.X) 2) What is the Ip address of your router ? 192.168.0.1 3) What is the...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

The one I did before I did test because I had the time then. These two new ones were installed as part of a bigger project of work as mentioned before, so I didn't have the time to test before mounting. I'll take them down tomorrow and figure out that way and report back. Sent from my...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Oh OK so they are already connected like that. Cable from cam into poe port on switch. Another cable connects my laptop to the same switch. I followed this exact process for the cam I setup before so I don't get why its not now working but I think I need to get the cams down now... Sent from...

They are on the same physical switch though...both connected to it via cable. What am I missing here...? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Keeping just one cam connected to the switch, shutting down, rebooting both my main router and switch and then re-attempting connection still didn't work. Guess I'll have to take them both down and bring them in. I have got my laptop connected directly to the switch, and the camera connected...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Ah yes I did think that so I disconnected the second one from the switch and left just one camera connected. Rebooted the switch and then tried again but no luck - although thinking about it now maybe I should have rebooted my router rather than the switch? And yes, the other cam which I setup...

Can't connect to or find Dahua cams

Hi all, I've recently had two Dahua IPC-HFW5442E-ZE cams installed and connected to CAT6, however I'm having no luck connecting to them via the web interface or discovering them using the Dahua ConfigTool. A few months back I setup a T5442TM-AS using the same process and had no issues. The...

    Camera disappeared from my network!

Yea so I've started a spreadsheet to capture the MAC addresses of all my devices and then which ones I've reserved IP addresses for and which ones are left to the DHCP. Apart from knowing which ones are reserved, it also helps because not all devices have a name or even one you can easily tell...

    Camera disappeared from my network!

You were absolutely right, it was an IP address conflict :) I identified the device which had taken the same IP address and then assigned it a fixed separate IP address (it's a Nest Protect so I prefer it to have a fixed IP anyway). I then rebooted it and then unplugged and replugged the camera...

    Camera disappeared from my network!

    1. Ah ok thanks I will look for the MAC on the box which I think I still have. 2. Right ok so in your example if I started the DHCP range from 100, I then reserve say 192.168.1.99 for the MAC address of the camera? But the fact that 99 isn't in the DHCP range of the router means that once I...

    Camera disappeared from my network!

How do I find out the hardware MAC address of the camera? Is this approach of MAC address IP reservation an alternative to assigning cameras an IP address outside the DHCP range of the router? When you say "reserve it in the switch" do you mean by logging onto the administration console of the...

    Camera disappeared from my network!

The IP address I gave the camera was 192.168.0.60. This isn't within the block of reserved addresses which my DHCP router cannot assign and I don't know why I did that actually. I must have misunderstood the IP addressing guidance although I understand more about it now. It's an unmanaged...

    Camera disappeared from my network!

Hi all, I had a Dahua T5442TM-AS cam initialised, setup and working on my network with a new IP address assigned to it as per the usual setup instructions. I haven't yet got a PC or storage sorted out for it yet so I was just using tinyCam to view the feed. However, the tinyCam connection...

Forgot to say, I'm actually in the UK so I wonder if anyone on here can advise of the best type of putty seal people here use...I've looked for duct seal but doesn't look like we get it here either.

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

Perfect - that's exactly what I'll do. My wall isn't rendered or anything but I'll fill it with putty seal once the cables are in and then the camera will cover the hole anyway. I'll also make sure I seal around the camera rim on the outside...thanks for giving me the reassurance :) Sent from...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

Thanks. I've managed to find some pics of turret style cameras mounted directly onto a wall and it doesn't look as bad as I first thought - because this will be at the front of my house I'd rather keep it as simple as possible hence preferring to mount directly rather than use the arm mount. All...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

Great thanks, that's good to know. I would prefer directly on the wall but I'd have to make the hole in the wall bigger to shove the camera pigtail into it so will have to look into that. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Hi everyone, is the PFB204W the only way to mount this camera if my cable is coming out of a brick wall? And are there any photo examples of how people have wall mounted it? I was planning to mount this on the under side of my soffit but things changed and my cable is now coming out of the...
