    Sensor size - confused

This particular dog needs guidance. He would kill anyone including any member of my family except me, so he needs his 30 foot line so that when he has finished eating, he comes back to me instead of looking for a desert. :D

    Sensor size - confused

Thanks. I have seen good reviews of the Hikvision smart tracking, but I am not expecting amazing performance. It's a bit overkill for my needs. I have a smallholding (tiny farm). We have a nut case who keeps coming onto our land. We have also had some very oddly butchered sheep for a few years...

    DH-SD8A840WA-HNF - PICS

Just found this thread when researching what Hi-PoE is. Glad I checked! I am about to buy one of these (https://www.hikvision.com/uploadfile/image/10165_E%E5%B7%A5%E4%BD%9C%E6%96%87%E6%A1%A3%E5%B7%A5%E4%BD%9C20160606DF36X2.darkfighterDS2DF8223IAEL(W).pdf) - it has a W at the end of the model...

    Sensor size - confused

Thanks. I am still confused here. It looks like 1/1.9" is bigger than 1/25" going by that link you kindly gave me. I urgently need to decide which camera, and it's tricky to suss out. I want auto tracking of persons moving in the frame. Some pages I have read online suggest they both do it ,but...

    Sensor size - confused

I am considering buying a PTZ Hikvision camera. 1. DS-2DE5425IW-AE - 1/2.5" progressive scan CMOS 2. DS-2DF8223I-AEL(W) - 1/1.9”HD CMOS sensor Which is the bigger sensor, I don't understand these figures. Anyone know which camera is newer/better? thanks

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

    thanks. That settles that!

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

I keep seeing HiLook 'by Hikvision' - they look identical, but half the price. I don't usually try to cut corners, but since this is such an expensive exercise, does anyone know if these things are basically the same thing with different badge? If so, it would be crazy to spend double just for a...

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

I read the specs on both thoroughly earlier and the only differences I could see were the two you mentioned, plus the "B" which (allegedly) is a slightly newer algorithm on the intelligence/behaviour analysis stuff. I hear you on the last point too.

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

PS, for anyone in UK or EU - I did all the research and the cheapest price available from a reputable supplier is this one here @ £850 - Hikvision 16 Channel DeepinMind 12MP NVR H265+ with 16 PoE Ports iDS-7716NXI-I4/16S(B). in case that helps anyone. I won't be going for it, too expensive, but...

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

Yep, totally agree. And someone once told me why companies do this, not sure if its tax related or public liability/warranty related. There was a reason, a silly one though I think. It may just be so they can release firmware etc for model-specific items, so they dont have to make say a US...

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

I read this thread with interest. I was about to buy 2 or 3 Acusense cameras as I desperately need good alerts with very few false positives. A CCTV company nearly talked me into parting with a lot of cash for Acusense cameras, they didn't mention Acusense being on some of the NVRs. I asked...

Review of the New Accusense DS-2CD2T46G1-4I

I was about to buy a few Acusense cameras, then I found this - Hikvision DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/4S 16 Channel Network Video Recorder - No HDD included. Not sure if anyone here has tried the 'Acusense NVR' - but I am thinking I could save money by having non-Acusense cameras and just use this box...

Review of the New Accusense DS-2CD2T46G1-4I

PS just had a thought, maybe you would like to test it? I wonder what happens if someone was to sneak up behind the camera and put a cloth or a bag over it. I would expect the human/vehicle alerts not to detect that as worth of an alarm, but maybe it's intelligent enough? Would be interested to...

Review of the New Accusense DS-2CD2T46G1-4I

Sounds to me like an Acusense camera integrated with the implementation of a .410 webley scott = the most accurate motion detection system ever. :D

Review of the New Accusense DS-2CD2T46G1-4I

Ah yes you're right, Turret cam is what I meant. 8MP DS-2CD2386G2-IU AcuSense Turret Network Camera Hikvision I have had bullets for years and have huge problems with spiders and rain (my environment to blame more than cameras). I thought I would try the turrets this time. I had an idea for...

Review of the New Accusense DS-2CD2T46G1-4I

Useful thread, thanks. I am about to get some Acusense cameras, the flat dome type in the hope this may be a bit more resistant to rain on lens and mostly spiders/webs. I don't expect it to be much better though. Nature of the beast really. Do the microphones work reasonably well? I found...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Thanks, but none of that is very specific. What wheel am I trying to reinvent? I resarched heavily for 1-2 weeks (using a "real" computer, which is all I use). I am yet to find something on a par with Acusense cameras for accurate motion detection alerts with few to no false alerts. This is a...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

PS, just to clarify, my main needs are: Recording 4-6 cameras Alerts (app or email) when away from home Remote login to view cameras. If I could solve the alerts problem, bearing in mind the ONLY camera-based solution is Hikvision Acusense, based on my research (ignoring thermal due to...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Yeah, you're not the first to tell me that and I believe you. It's shocking. I am slowly cleaning my stuff up here, one machine at a time. But it's a big task for someone who doesnt have your level of experience/knowledge, and I guess that's just how "they" like it! I will get there slowly! (I...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

"The type one VPN is next to useless please take some time and look at this video." - Disagree completely. I know that video well, and his many others, and much more on that subject. If I was saying "I use VPN to be anonymous", then I would agree with you. But I didn't say what I use it for. It...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Thanks again Yankee. There isn't much difference between UK and US. I can use all the same routers, Asus etc. DVR/NVR - gotcha. Thanks. I had a DVR. Dumped. Going for NVR next as I want PoE for longer cable runs and more reliability/better signal. VPN - Yep, I use type 1 around the clock on all...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Thanks Yankee. That brings up a point I am often confused about, which may be showing my ignorance.... DVR or NVR? I 'assumed' (assumption being the mother of all fuck ups :D) that a DVR is a CCTV hard drive "box", and once connected to the web, it becomes an NVR. Sounds like I am wrong there...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Maybe a dumb question, but I want to confirm... When you said "Camera should not access the internet period." - Would you call my DVR "accessing the internet" if it was behind a VPN router? I assumed you meant never have cameras available over the internet for anyone, including me, in other...

Thanks. I do understand a bit about hacking. I know a few ethical hackers and net security people, but I don't know any near me who can help check/configure my system. I do understand your point though, yes any computer on any network, because a vulnerable exploit and potential botnet device or...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Oh and PS - In case it makes a difference..... I am not actually too concerned about hackers gaining access to my CCTV streams to VIEW. Obviously admin control would be a problem, but just viewing wouldn't. My cameras don't cover private home areas, just outside areas I wouldn't mind some...

Advice needed re new CCTV system.

Thanks for the quick reply, even if it was automated/pasted :). I am sure that makes things a lot more efficient I am aware of most of the info there, certainly not all, but most. The opsec side I am conversant with, its the technical side for accessing cameras remotely where I will struggle. I...
