    Am I asking for trouble?

New cable is a Monoprice Cat 6 advertised as 24AWG Pure Copper so I can sleep good at night knowing a crap cable isn't going to destroy my new cam. Running a 100ft cable in the attic was no fun tho.

    Am I asking for trouble?

Just replaced my backyard cam with a Dahua IPC-PDW3849-A180-AS-PV 180 degree view camera. The cable runs thru the attic and is probably 100ft long. it's an el cheapo Amazon Basics flat cable. Camera is connected to a POE+ HP switch. It works just fine but I'm concerned that the cable won't be...

    Mini-Review - 5442-ZE-S3 AKA T54IR-ZE-S3 - Replacement to 5442-ZE

Yea, that's exactly what it did but I have no zoom control except in the camera web page. How can I control the zoom via UI3, or can I?

Can someone recommend a cam for my dark backyard?

I actually have one of these doing duty on the inside. Think I'll move it to the backyard and save some money. I have another I can use in it's place.

Can someone recommend a cam for my dark backyard?

Currently I'm using a Dahua OEM SD1A203T-GN and it sucks after it gets dark. I get nothing but a gray screen. I'm wondering if a Dahua Starlight cam would do any better and if so, how much. I have one in the front but there's a streetlight and neighborhood porch lights there so no problem. In...

Can't get BI to connect to Dahua DH-IPC-HDW2449T-s-il

Took me awhile but I finally got it installed and working. A pro could have done it in a fraction of the time but what the heck, I have plenty of time these days. And yea, it's in Vivid mode. :p

Can't get BI to connect to Dahua DH-IPC-HDW2449T-s-il

Thanks Tony. Problem turned out to be me. I use a separate subnet for the cams, 192.168.5.XX and my main subnet, which routes to the Internet is 192.168.10.xx. I put in 10 where it should have been 5. Sometimes problems can be so simple they're hard to spot.

Can't get BI to connect to Dahua DH-IPC-HDW2449T-s-il

None of my cameras are listed in BI so I wasn't surprised to find that this one wasn't either. I've tried all the different possible setting and I've gotten nowhere. Camera works just fine via it's web page but BI can't connect. Any help much appreciated. TIA NM, brain fart on my part.

Need a recommendation for a camera

Just added him to my ignore list also. :p I have 2 Dahau cams. One is a IPC-T54IR-ZE. and the other is a PTZ425DB-AT. The first one is a wide view which is good, the other is a PTZ and it's a narrow view. I figure since it's a PTZ it doesn't need to be wide view. I've searched thru the menu...

Just used distilled water and it did the trick. My backyard cam had gotten so hazy I thought I would have to replace it, but not anymore. Thanks all.

Need a recommendation for a camera

POE camera installation - how are you guys running wires?

My home is single story so most of the cabling is in the attic and I don't care how it look up there. For non attic runs I bought an assortment of tools. A 6 ft drill bit from Amazon and a fiberglass rod set and a cable pulling reel of wire from Harbor Freight. In wall runs are the most...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Just checked mine and no black dots yet. I will say this, last time I cleaned the bubble it most definitely needed it but you could see it looking directly at it. But after cleaning they were gone. But I have noticed that light has a tenancy to bounce around causing stray reflections. but this...
