    Backyard trees and darkness

I do have that box checked. I unchecked it. Thank you. I am not using a SC card. My cameras don't seem to be dropping signal. I was adjusting settings in the GUI and posted a screen shot of BI status. It showed one camera at 7fps. Here is where the FPS normally stays. Sometimes a few...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I bought it because you had it :) I tried to avoid electrical wiring but near impossible going across the house. I reset the Blue Iris Status. Hopefully the log will show the FPS history, it is mostly close to 15fps then sometimes goes down to mid 13fps or up to 16fps.

    Backyard trees and darkness

I'm thinking TP-Link because it has separate LAN for networking plus expansion of system, and plenty of power. Also, I have a whole house surge protector. I know that sometimes certain hardware does not like that. Amazon.com: TP-Link TL-SG1008MP V2 | 8 Port Gigabit PoE Switch | 8 PoE+ Ports...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I ran Truecable pure copper CMR. I used passthrough connectors that came with the crimping tool, but it didn't crimp that well on some. I had to use a neighbor's crimping tool to finish the job. We weren't sure if it was the passthrough connectors or the crimping tool giving issues. I tested...

I think I started BI Saturday. Switch is Steamo I think. Amazon.com: 8 Port Gigabit PoE Switch with 2 Gigabit Uplink,802.3af/at Compliant,100W Built-in Power,Unmanaged Metal Plug and Play : Electronics So the camera in question was not giving me a substream in BI. I did troubleshooting then...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I need to adjust the field of view, I got it close, but not perfect. Got some overhang from soffit I want to get rid of. And my leveling isn't perfect. Dual NIC Powering via POE switch Part of log that says signal restored.

    Backyard trees and darkness

I found @wittaj 's camera settings advice* going through each one to set the basic settings first. During playback of triggers, I noticed some video issues and the BI status shows cameras having NoSignal at some points. It was too windy yesterday to get on a ladder to dial the cameras in...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I'll post once everything is zeroed in. I'm new to BI so watching youtube and reading but need a break. I saw a rabbit go across the driveway and couldn't figure out how to go back to show my kid. I'll get there.

Figures. It's my fault, murphy's law hit me last night and continues this morning! More coffee will fix it. Appreciate it!

    deepstack website issues

Just curious if it's just me. Anytime I try to go to https://www.deepstack.cc I get ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED , which I believe is a DNs/firewall issue. However, every other website I tried works. I just had setup dual NIC and was attempting to download deepstack on it and thought something...

If anyone needs me to test one for a "review" I'll be happy to :lmao:

    Backyard trees and darkness

That makes complete sense and what I thought was the case. I'm glad I double checked. I do not see a 2mp HNR sold by Andy atm so I'd go with the more expensive 4mp with the larger sensor. However, I need to think about it more. When I tested the 5442s in the back they were b/w but I did not...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I haven't gone away, just ran the last set of wires for everything planned for the soffit. I have spray foam insulation, so the largest pain was getting the wire as it ended up behind the insulation somewhere. Lots of digging into it to find it and pull it through but no drag or catching on...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I understand and have read about the quality of the 5442s on the forum. However, before investing money into a complete system for good measure on my end I had to test against a competitor - myself. Trust but verify.

    Backyard trees and darkness

I understand, my side views have been adjusted and zoomed in to capture faces. I'll have 7 cameras to get setup soon. They should get faces, except for the pool one that is for safety reason. I have a couple ideas for the backyard including a HNR with two spotters but I need to get started on...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I just read that forum, I actually didn't watch the hookup. I was trying to do my own research based on what Amazon was throwing at me. I converted the reolink to PNG. Still don't have pictures of myself or the other views. I had both zoomed out all the way as I couldn't find a conversion to...

It said the file format was not acceptable or something. And I don't believe everything I read on the internet, so I had to try it out. Free return so no loss.

    Backyard trees and darkness

I went around and tested everything with the T5442T-ZE and just zoomed in to get rid of the walls and moved the camera positions to where I'd get my goal of seeing someone going through the corridors. I then decided to compare the T5442T-ZE to another camera that had great reviews. I wanted to...

    Backyard trees and darkness

It's $30 difference now! I read the comparison of it verse a fixed lens and it said the fixed lens has better night vision. The ability to zoom is awesome. I was thinking of getting a ZE for the driveway as the lights are always on and it's a long driveway. I was just looking for the 2mp that...

    Backyard trees and darkness

For the record, I did read the comment about testing for 24 hours with the 2x4 several times! ;) I just haven't figured out a practical way to do it without having a window or sliding door open. Wife wants them shut for the alarm! Power adapter and SD card is the only thing I can think of.

    Backyard trees and darkness

I appreciate that suggestion! I'll try that when testing to see what happens. I know the window will be a problem but it's hard to make your neighbor stay on the ladder as you give directions left, right, no back left, up, no the other up. I was somewhat limited on time. Every position is...

    Backyard trees and darkness

Okay here is the back. The issue is covering the width between the trees. I can attach cameras lower to the screen enclosure (files marked by low) and probably get a 2.8mm lens instead of the 3.6mm but then I really have to worry about the cameras' safety or use a less expensive camera and...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I got the 5442 in a 3.6mm lens and was able to test viewing angles today with my neighbor's help. I'm still waiting on a part for the computer to set it all up. Then I just need to order the cameras and install them. The backyard needs some thought, so I'll post everything then post what I...

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

I read the entire thread. Thank you everyone! The few questions I have before attempting dual NIC setup on the machine coming Friday is... 1) Do we need to do anything with IPv6 such as disabling it during the first step when we click on IPv4 and properties? My router shows activity on IPv6...

Why we harp about NEVER using CCA ethernet cable.

$119 after free shipping, taxes, and coupons! I thought I needed shielded, but I really never used that in the past and never had issues. But my historical experience is for computer runs.

Why we harp about NEVER using CCA ethernet cable.

I said I was returning it! No one wants to sell cat5e anymore because everyone needs cat6! I'll check out those other vendors. I was just heading out the store to an electric distribution company that sells directly to electricians to see what they carry figuring I might save on the "free...

Why we harp about NEVER using CCA ethernet cable.

I know this post is older, but I've spent countless hours trying to find decent cable. It seems every company has the "cable you need," but when you search the reviews for POE you see it doesn't work. Whether that's because the person didn't know what they're doing (most the people who leave...

    Backyard trees and darkness

I'm leaning towards the 4x4 option. I've been trying to find a switch on ebay and used desktop computer on amazon (my old laptop has one ethernet port, and a 256gig SSD). Then I was searching for cable I can bury. If I mount any higher then I have trees in the way and I don't see the PTZ...
