Tapping into the Ethernet Cable to give Power to an IP Camera

Since active POE switches are very expensive, I use a passive POE injector which has fuses on each port + Meanwell power supply + cheapest switch. btw I recetly tried to split the power from one ethernet cable to power two cameras (data to a switch, power to cameras), to save a power adapter...

    Need advise installing 30 x 3MP camera

I think that one small gigabit switch/router connected to several 100mbit switches and PC/NVR should work fine. But as you experienced before, a saturated line can cause lags (it would be interesting to know the exact number of cameras which made the lag noticeable). So the safest thing would...

    Blue Iris Annual Fee?

I guess the author should have made a new separate mobile app for v4, which you would have to buy as well. I don't see any other way which would make gmaster1 happy. :)

BI changes Frame Rate settings on its own

I am pretty sure that when I had some weird framerate (yes, in the Video tab), my recordings were messed up, not always, probably only with some bad combinations of camera fps and BI Frame Rate, I will try to reproduce it and email to support...

Moving BI to a new PC - performance issues

2x higher load on i5 compared to i7 should be expected, but that does not mean that i7 would handle 2x more cameras. CPU usage is a lie when using i7 with HT, simply because the Windows performance monitoring thinks there are 2x more equal cores, which is not true. Although even if i7 may not...

BI changes Frame Rate settings on its own

Several times now I had to check every camera and set proper Frame Rate in BI, because it was changed on some cameras, e.g from 15 to 17,5, and from 6 to 7,5.... improper frame rate results in motion artifacts in recordings afaik. Does it happen to anyone else? DS-2CD2032F-I

    Database: Corrupt or disc error

BI Support answer: "The 00000020 error is a sharing violation, and maybe you need to exempt the DB folder from your antivirus etc." That checks out, I have Kaspersky Antivirus, unfortunatelly I do not have admin rights, but I will try to get it excluded...

    Pygmy goats live stream

And it seems to me that the video lags a little bit frequently, could it be caused by recording in 15 fps and reencoding to 30fps for youtube, or the 25ms latency between my PC with XSplit and the camera. or it looks fine to you? edit: I think it has something to do with the network, I saw...

    Pygmy goats live stream

I just found that I can use NVENC hardware encoder on NVIDIA GPU, it reduces CPU usage of XSplit to 10%. I could maybe buy a GT 720 to my BI PC and stream indefinitely. I currently use SSH reverse tunnel to my personal PC and stream from there... One thing I am not happy is the...

    Pygmy goats live stream

Camera: Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I Unfortunately, I will not be able to run this indefinitely, as it consumes about 25% of i5-3570k@4,5GHz + 30% of GTX770 (1920x1080 4096kbps 15fps). I need to find a way how to stream without re-encoding - to some provider...

    Direct to Disk not working?

I have 10 cameras, in total 3MP@85fps, 1MP@5fps; doing 3000 kB/s according to BI, everything recording, motion detection on 6 cams. It takes on average 110% CPU time when minimized on i5-4590@3.3-3.7GHz ~ 28% cpu usage in task manager. 130% CPU time when using the demo version ~ 32.5% cpu...

    Motion detection, CPU insanity?

Nope, BI will eat your cpu no matter what, motion detection is only a minor part of that... https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/3828-viewing-and-recording-different-quality-streams?p=46554&viewfull=1#post46554...

    Network setup question

I've just done this using EC2, works fine (I am using Blue Iris Android app). -I have an ssh connection from my PC to EC2, which opens a reverse tunnel for a BI web server, then I am just connecting to that using a BI app for Android on a public EC2 url.

    Network setup question

Do you have a public IP address? You need it in order to make port forwarding work, although I am not sure whether some providers are able to open one port on non-public IP and route it to you. Why is not port forwarding from the CG router an option? It should be easy to set port forwarding...

Synology NAS as BI storage + standby recorder?

I have a i5-4590 PC which works as a server for an automated cow milking station. It is totally overpowered, so I installed BI on it.
