Firmware upgrade, empiretech cam - How? / Having Trouble connecting 180cam

No, didn’t know that existed. Overlay? How would I see it if I can’t get video from cam when it’s happening?

Firmware upgrade, empiretech cam - How? / Having Trouble connecting 180cam

I don’t exactly think a firmware update is going to fix my issue. It sure looks like I’m on a version of firmware that isn’t even listed —old. Kinda figure at this point what can it hurt. There certainly seem to be valuable improvements in the updated firmware over what I currently have. My...

Firmware upgrade, empiretech cam - How? / Having Trouble connecting 180cam

I’ve having trouble with a 180 camera and believe a firmware upgrade would be beneficial. What I don’t understand is how do I upgrade the firmware without exposing the camera to the internet. what’s the safe process? Is there a program I need to do this? Config tool? Do you put config tool on...

So this is starting to point more towards a camera issue... What I've done: New RJ45 ends, both sides cam and switch. Factory hard reset 3 times. Still can't connect, illumination lights on camera are on. No green light on port on switch. Switch ports on switch to a know good port. Remove a...

Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-PFW5849-A180-E2 - Dual Lens 180 Degree Full Color 4K (8MP Stitched) Camera

OK understood -- It did work for 7 or 8 hours today while I was at work. Is that typical of a wire issue, to go bad slowly? I can always pull the cam down again tomorrow and set it up on my test tombstone. Maybe I should change the other connector too -- On the switch end. I have no real way...

Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-PFW5849-A180-E2 - Dual Lens 180 Degree Full Color 4K (8MP Stitched) Camera

Tested how? From what I've read, cheap testers are just that, cheap and do nothing but continuity. It's new cable out of the box. I did install the ends. Yes I could have a bad end install, always possible. Why would I have lights on cam if bad cable?

Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-PFW5849-A180-E2 - Dual Lens 180 Degree Full Color 4K (8MP Stitched) Camera

I'm having an issue with a 180 cam -- I'll ask here because this thread just came back up Refurb from Andy, bought in January 2024, ran on test rig for a few days back when I got it. Just putting camera into service now. Had a tough time getting camera to start, did some diagnosing, pulled it...

POE switches (outdoor) to reduce cable runs

Jumping in with a question - Looped wire? Every wire I pull to a camera I pull an extra 10 feet. This is in my attic. I loop the extra wire, bang a staple into a rafter, and attach the loop of wire to the staple with a Velcro wire tie. I thought this was common practice. From what I read above...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

Do you have a 3rd ethernet connection on the lenovo? Your wiring schematic should have 1 camera switch plugged into the other camera switch, then only the 1 camera switch plugged into the 2nd NIC on the lenovo

New BI User, call me Overwhelmed

I wouldn’t say ”spun up”. I managed to get it set up, running and functional. Used the search function here a lot. There are a ton of things I have no idea what they do. I fit Tony’s description above. I do like to tinker.

New BI User, call me Overwhelmed

It’s not a terrible learning curve. I’m a ditch digger and I managed to at least be functional with BI. Buy it or use the evaluation period but you need to have a cam or 2 up and running and actually play with BI to learn it. At least I did. When you have an issue just ask. You will not be...

New Dahua GUI issue with day night

If the time and date are correct in the camera then it should run. Maybe try a power cycle on the camera just to reboot. I program mine with day, general, night. General is for the transitioning light at dusk and dawn. My time chart looks no different than yours other than the 3rd color. No...

Video from clients house hit by tornado last week

Look on the upper right side of the screen, near the gutter. Most likely aluminum trim coil. Starts out nice, looks like it was blasted by a shotgun by the end. Imagine all that small debris flying around, what it would do to a human.

Cat6, Fiber optics, or wireless bridge to shed

The vibratory plow "puller" is basically a knife blade with a sling attached for holding pipe or wire. Lower blade into ground, vibrate the blade, and drive slow. Pipe gets dragged underground behind the blade. Damage to ground is really dependent on soil conditions and pulling depth. Roots are...
