Hi All Got my Dahua NVR4208-8P. Still not moved into new house so I have some time to go yet. I will be installing my NVR in attic space which is actually beside my bedroom, so I am concerned about the fan noise. I have read about a mod where the fan can be replaced with a lower volt model, but...

Testing CAT6 with a cheap tester

So my builder will route my cat6 for me around my house, both for my IP cameras and internet function. However, he will not terminate with RJ45 connectors, that'll be up to me. I have a cheap 2 piece cable tester. As the CAT6 cable will be already on installed in the walls etc, can I plug in...

Should I buy the Dahua NVR 4208?

Hi All Currently setting up my first system, have two Dahua HDW5231R-Z Starlight cameras on the way. Need a DVR, and was thinking of the NVR4208, which appears to be 8 channel POE. One reservation I have is that somebody referred to it as sounding as loud as a jet engine! Any alternative Dahua...

    Network cable tester opinions

Great thanks. I would have not guessed that it was so hard to terminate correctly, even for a new person who takes their time. Clearly I dont want to spend big bucks, any budget model recommended or will any type work just fine? On a similar note, which tools are recommended to terminate for...

Please recommend a NVR - I have two Dahua 2mp IP starlights

Cool, I completely mis-read in that case. So what I think I need to do is: Once I move to my renovated house, I will choose the best upload/download deal that an ISP in my area can provide. The router they provide will likely be quite basic, so I think I will get a VPN server capable router. I...

Please recommend a NVR - I have two Dahua 2mp IP starlights

Great post. I've read it. I am convinced I should go with a VPN. However, one requirement is that I need to access my camera feed remotely from my android device, such device being connected to a mobile cellular network. Unless I am misunderstanding, it appears that this may not be possible..

Hey all I have ordered a pair of Dahua 2MP IP starlight cameras, POE. I am new to this, and am looking for recommendations on a Dahua NVR, as there appears to be quite a few options. Beginner - I have selected, the camera, what else (DVR, NVR ? etc)

Hi all From another thread, Dahua was recommended to me for outdoor security cameras at my house. Currently renovating and thought it would be a good opportunity. I am routing CAT6 cable so I can run the cameras (probably 2, maybe 3 external camers) PoE. Here is the camera I am going for, a...

Thanks again. I'm continuing my research and found somebody say that Hisun might be good, but for new entrants , there might a lot of time spent in AE? What does AE mean? I'm happy to get my hands dirty and learn as I go along, but at the same time, with a young family, I don't have hors upon...
