My ISP does not allow VPN - what alternative is available?

thanks guys. I think I have made progress. My ISP provided modem/router has a DMZ option. I have put the ip address of my own 3rd party router into the DMZ setting of the ISPs router. Now I have a camera connected to my own router. When I enter the ip address of that camera in my browser, while...

So I've got a 2mp Starlight (5231R-Z), what camera is next?

Having read a lot here from knowledgeable folk, I went ahead and purchased two of 2MP Starlight HDW5231R-Z turrets. I have eventually had the time to set them up, and am quite happy with the purchase. So, I am looking for cameras number 3 and 4. Perhaps another outdoor and one for indoors...

cannot find network host (ip is 10.1.1.67)

an update on this - i have a second camera which is not yet mounted in its final position yet. I plugged the camera into a switch, and the switch into my laptop. The Smart PSS software found the camera, once again. However, this time, the IP of the camera was in the 192.168.x.xxx range. I went...

Has anybody built or bought a fan cooled cabinet for their NVR?

Thanks Nayr. I have not moved into the new house yet. Have the NVR beside me here, but haven't plugged it in yet! I know it will need to be dead quiet due to the location beside the bedroom, hence my question. I am always a bit apprehensive about Chinese products due to the poorly written...

Should I have gone with Blue Iris instead of NVR?

Seen as I will use my cell phone to access my IP camera system remotely, I think I have made a mistake in choosing a Dahua NVR instead of a PC server and BlueIRIS. Is there anything I can do to improve things?

Has anybody built or bought a fan cooled cabinet for their NVR?

Just trying to deal with the noise from my Dahua NVR and thought that I might try build an acoustically insulated closed cabinet, with super quiet fans, in order to try reduce the overall noise output from my NVR. Has anybody made a unit, or bought something off the shelf quite cheaply and...

The location is actually to the side of m bedroom. Attic is converted but there is remaining attic space at the eaves and this was the best place to home run this cat6 cable to. Weather here not never gets above 80F.
